I love the creativity of grinding the flange! Brilliant! I wouldn't even have thought to check the run out on the rotors..that's a great heads up for all future brake projects!

Awesome upgrade.
Could always use Explorer rear brake kit for 9” ….internal small drum brake for e brake works really well without dragging issues, rotors can be ordered in any bolt circle. You’re welcome.
I like the drum e brake in the disk like the jk has.

I recently bought some Dana44 axles from a 2006 JK for my 4.0L TJ.
Not exactly what I was looking for but I got both axles for $300. Apparently they have no brake parts. I didn't know this when I bought them.
I was planning to truss them and re-gear. I'm planning to run 35" tires but might go up to 37's if I get crazy.
Do you think these axles are worth it?
Under cover fab makes a backet to hook up a mater cylinder to the factory parking brake handle
I have seen this, pretty slick. gets kinda expensive with the bracket and buying a master cylinder. I have been looking at the $25 eBay hydraulic e-brake handle. I have a few friends that use them and have had no problems with them👊🏻

Just parted out a 79 for a "Free" axle. These videos are a great help as I tear the axle down. One question is why you did not run hard lines right to the calipers then have a single flexible line?
You wouldn't be able to remove the caliper to change pads without also unhooking the brakeline.

Yea, it should, it is just the same parts that come with most kits, it’s just cheaper if you buy them separately. They just usually don’t reveal exactly what parts they use👍🏻

I always thought about putting a line lock for the rear for a ebrake
I will be doing that later down the road. They make e brake handles with a line lock built into it, which is what I will be trying out.
I have a lever line lock, I wondered if I'd trust it parked on a hill for a long time. I think it was intended for a forklift.
couldn't you run a line lock for a parking brake press brake activate and there locked until you deactivate
Yep, the Jeep already has one, but it hasn’t worked since I have owned it. They make ebrake handles with a line lock built into it, I am probably going to go with one of those👍🏻

Hey Kelly, Im looking for a set of axles for a swap right now. Im hoping to find a HPD44 from an early 70s f150. Is your 9" from the same truck that you got the D44 from or is there a more desirable housing?
The front d44 will be the tougher one to find. I have the most sought after one from a 76. The 9” I have came from a 1980 f150. Much easier to find those. I used this as my guide for the d44. Hope it helps. www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Dana44.shtml
How much stronger is that 9in. than the 8.8 it is replacing?

Does that disc setup stop better than the drum setup?
Not sure, I haven’t had a drum setup on this Jeep. But drum brakes work just fine as long as they are clean and adjusted properly.

Think I'm running ford explorer disc breaks on my currie 9".
That is an option, but they are like $500, unless you can get everything from a junkyard and piece it together.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 by everything, it's just all the parts on the explorer 8.8 right? No adapters, no Frankenstein, just 8.8 backing plates, brakes etc?
Depends on which 9” axle you have, I believe the 8.8 backing plate works with the “new style” 9” big bearing ends only.
