Just another quick video showing how I replaced the front brake pads and Brake Rotors on a 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK 430.
Tools needed:
T45 Torx Bit or 'Star Tool' socket with socket wrench
A couple small screwdrivers or pry bars to get the caliper off
Caliper compression tool or C-Clamp
5mm Allen key tool to remove the rotor
18mm Socket and or wrench or breaker bar
I forgot to add brake grease to the backs of the pads and the edges that make contact with the caliper support bracket.

I'm considering buying a 02 CLK 430 but trying to get an idea of what I can and cannot do myself. This makes me much more confident and is helping me make the decision to purchase the car. Great video, Thanks!!!!
nice video doing all mine right now. 01 clk 430
Great vid, thanks for sharing
Excellent. Thanks.
Very informative, helped out a lot! Where did you get your torque specs from? I'm currently replacing upper/lower control arms and am having trouble finding information on my w208.
Please make more vids about this 🚗
Thank you sir
You're welcome.
Thanks for watching!

Would an 03 CLK 430 be the same process or are there any differences. Been doing brake jobs for friends and this would be my first Mercedes.
Hi Chris,
I think it would be the same for that year. Best of luck to you!

okay i ran into an issue. the little bolt in the rotor that you took off, you said it was a 5mm? But you’re using a T27 right, had to look up the conversion rate. I think mine rusted out i tried using a t25 (that’s all i had) just to feel for something and it’s just rust falling out. i see the bolt in the back, i’m afraid i have to drill it out. Just wanted to be sure it was a T27 before i go about removing it as a broken bolt.
ok i watched it back and realized you said a 5mm allen bolt. So that’s what you used to take it off. Have to do an autozone run but i may have solved this myself haha
@@MattTavenner I was just watching it as well to refresh my memory on the size, but yes, it looks like it was just a 5mm allen. Best of luck to you!
Just loosen the bleeder screw to compress the piston
Then you'll have to bleed the brakes when it's not really necessary if you just push the pistons back in
How much did all the parts cost?
Bill it will depend on if you go oem from dealership or third party. I did my rear brake pads and they cost $20 from auto zone no joke but $100 something at the dealership
