  • ►The rear brakes on the Mercedes W203 are typically overlooked when compared to the front brakes. However, it's just as important to replace the rear brakes as it is the fronts. If you're experiencing any pulsating, grinding, squeaking, or it has been over 50,000-miles since your last brake service, it's time to replace those old rear brake pads and brake discs.
    In this DIY, Michael Hidalgo walks you through the steps needed to tackle this job on your own on a Mercedes C280.

    Your instructions are precise

    Perfect set of instructions - thanks! One thought: the hole for the pin in front is small - 3 mm - and most punches bottom out before the pin is all the way through. If you don't have long punches, take a long nail (something like 3 inches or 75 mm) and use that as a punch. You may want to grind the point flat; you may also need to grind down the diameter because most nails of this length are pretty thick.
    You took 13 minutes start to end for this. I took 1 1/2 hours because there is always some tool missing or something isn't coming off. This time the wheel seemed welded on and it was almost an hour before I got it loose.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 2 lety

      Hi Sam, be sure to use some of the tips for break inspection noted at the beginning of the video. If your brake disc is showing any symptoms of wear, we would advise replacing them.

      @@Elpipiton im a little late but the video only focused on chaning the brake disc and cleaning out the parking brake, they didnt need to remove the brake caliper which has the brake fluid.

    Hello, can anybody tell me the exact name or how to find the sensor, the part that is on the Caliper not the pad wear sensor, the sensor pointed out at 7mn55sc in this video
    Thank you

      @fcpeuro  Před rokem +1

      Hi Sid, that would be an ABS/Speed sensor, available on FCPEuro.com if you select your vehicle using the My Garage tool.

    Not professional at all. You must un-adjust the parking brake first, these are painted rotors and you need to sand the parking brake surface on the new rotor and after you install the rotor you need to tighten the parking brake adjuster until rotor won't move, back off a half a turn and do three times, Usually 1/2 a turn is about right should feel a slight drag, but not tight. The adjuster is inside the rotor and is a star wheel.
    You can damage the parking brake shoes if you use his method, if you do what your suppose to do first the rotor will slide right off and these guys need to invest in some tools as well. Usually we clean all the threads
    as well including the bolts and lugs. They make male wire brushes you can put on an electric drill.
