Just a quick video showing how easy it is to replace the rear brake pads on a 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK 430. You really only need a small punch or something to drive out the brake caliper pin and metal pad retainer, and some screwdrivers or something similar to push the caliper pistons back in. I realized after filming this video, that I didn't apply any brake grease or sil-glyde to the back side of the pads and edges of the metal backing plate. The brake grease will help keep the brake noise down and will also help prevent the pads from getting stuck in the caliper.
I also made a video of how to replace the front brake pads and rotors on this same vehicle:

Great video
Very good video with detail and clear explanation. You made it look so easy and effortless, starting to wonder why shop charges so much to work on benz.
Thank you
Is this the same on a 2002 Mercedes clk320
Hello Dan the fix it man. I have a S S430 Mercedes Benz , & the lights are coming on to replace rear pads. 1st question. Do I have to purchase the pads from a Mercedes dealership OR can I buy some from Auto zone? 2nd question is it has a air ride system & it rises in the air. Does that need to be turned off before they start to work on my car?or does it matter?
You should be able to buy the part from Autozone and they usually come with a warranty. Much more affordable...
It won’t matter if the suspensions rise when lifted as long as they are able to get the wheel out of the wheel well to get to the brake calipers
next time just loosen the bleeder screw.
