so if you run software a few times it will increase over all deep on the cut? so for example if you can make a cut 1mm with 1 run doing 5 runs will do 5mm or there are some hardware limitations?

I bought one of these but I’m having trouble on getting a clean finish on white gold, rose gold and some in silver. Is there a spread sheet of parameters for each material? On steel I get a clean uniform finish, but in gold, and specially on the inside of rings, I get a blurry and inconsistent finish. Thanks in advance for your feedback

My biggest problem with open air lasers like this that not a single company cares to address...is the off gassing and the harmful effects it causes. This literally will kill you. But not a single one has a simple carbon ventilation system on them.
You can install a fully enclosed enclosure. Then connect an air purifier

what's the size of the surface it can cover? I saw range is 30 cm, it that right? do I have to move the metal manually?
This machine can install a different lens to mark different areas, max 30cm*30cm.
I'm brand new to laser engraving and just picked up a 40w CNC Fiber Laser myself. Using factory settings I can engrave any of those black laser cards for sale on Amazon fine but on any other metals - nearly nothing! What could I be doing wrong? I've looked for a depth setting in EzCad which it came with and didn't find anything, I tried all different random MhZ and power settings and still no change. I can see a very slight marking if I set it to loop 10x for instance but not much beyond that yet the manufacturer shows it cutting deep into firearm slides and such. Of course out of China I'm getting no support so just wondered if any of you experienced engravers might know what I'm doing wrong?

@@rockman49er It turned out my issue was with the distance of the laser head from the object being engraved. Too close or too far away it won't work, there's an exact measurement between laser head and object that has to be maintained and differes according to type of metal so for the most point you have to listen to the sound of the laswer working to get the proper cut. It's a long road ahead I can see but I'll eventually get better.

@@Tankwiper Appreciate the tip. My machine is one of those big sit-down machines similar to the one in this video that has a big arm with a ruler on it. I only recently learned about the importance of changing the height of the laser and how just a little too high or low can make a world of difference but yes, I did mark mine with a permanent marker on that ruler. I'm learning, just slowly thanks to tips from people like you and those making these videos.

I'm wondering if I can engrave deeply on stainless steel, around 2cm in depth, can this machine do it?
2cm is too much for this machine. But the CNC moulding the machine can finish very well.
Wouldnt it be possible to deep engrave the part in several phases, changing the laser focus depth before start of new phase?
say we want 20mm overall ebgrave depth and we know
the machine can engrave 2mm?
now we start the machine with laser at zero, then make one pass.
now we lower the laser head 2mm and send same file to engrave, and so on and so on, ten passes...until we achieve the required depth.
is any of this relevant?
@@randomtux1234 Unrealistic. Engraving this depth can be considered using a CNC molding machine.
for that depth - definitely go cnc - faster.

Thank you for your advice, but for some specific shapes with very high accuracy couldn’t be obtained by CNC, though I’m obliged to use laser engraving 👍

What Parameters is used to engrave 2mm in the aluminium and .5mm in the steel?

Yes.
Can it cut 2mm allumunium sheet?
Needs the very very long time for very small design, this machine is not suitable for cutting.

Yes. But it needs a very long time.
actually you would need a DIFFERENT type of fiber laser that uses a different frequency. this is good for silver/ aluminum. for gold color or gold material, rose gold color, rose gold material you would need a different type of laser frequency. beware!
