    Thank you Sir for your video, learnt a lot from it. I still have a question though: how did you find your initial focus lenght of 465? I have a 30W Raycus with a 175x175 lenses that focuses at 160mm, then I add the hight of my rotary + cup & adjust my tower accordingly with DRO but still not working... Any thoughts on solving this problem? Tia

    How would you compare this to a standard co2 laser for tumblers? Which would be best for engraving in bulk?

      I don't have a CO2 engraver so I can't comment. I know with some of the more difficult coatings, my fiber laser has no issues cutting through with no cleaning afterwards.

    I think you would benefit from casting an epoxy mandrel for the various cups that you mark. It would save you most of the time you spend handling the workpieces. like 90%.

  • @DistinguishedRuffianTV

    So this setting works pretty well for me but between each split there is a roughly .5 mm space that is not engraved. Any thoughts on how to eliminate these? I've had this thing for a year now and these have been the best setting so far but the image is still not coming out at a level of quality that I feel could be sold to my club members.

    • @elephantengravingco.8833
      @elephantengravingco.8833  Před 3 lety

      i actually don't adjust the height of my galvo when i switch cups. everything is really +/- 5mm (20oz, 30oz, bottles, etc.). the red dot pointer is set for 110mm lens and i'm using a 300mm lens. i've disabled the red light pointer for focus and i actually test each lens for the optimum "height above material" focus distance and i keep records of that and adjust accordingly.

  • @igetcha69

    I’m the opposite, if I use a split mark such as 3mm then every 3mm it leaves a tiny gap in the engraving. But if I set the split mark to the same size as my line size (for example 0.02) then it engraves perfectly! Lol

    You should open the chuck more and then place your mug on the first actual notch of the jaws. Then your mug can be placed up against the face as intended and it will be concentric with the rotary. The way you are doing it you have to cross your fingers that it is concentric. If it isn't concentric then your surface will move away from your focal point and cause an inferior engraving for no reason.

      Hi Robert. This video is designed for people who already have an understanding of EZCAD2. Generally, people won't start with the rotary until they have a basic understanding of using their fiber laser with EZCAD2 to engrave flat objects. While I may create an EZCAD2 beginners video in the future, there are several other videos that cover this topic on CZcams.
