Kia Sorento review: 2022 GT-Line seven-seater SUV - it has a surprise high tech car park trick!

  • The Kia Sorento GT-Line has a terrific family-friendly party trick - and it's a godsend for a pregnant mum. This car can park itself just by using the remote key fob, and that might sound like a naff idea, but for a seven-month-pregnant woman, it could be the difference between getting out of the car comfortably, or not.
For example - park too close to a wall in a car that doesn't have a remote parking system like this, and you could struggle to get out. But with the Kia Remote Parking Assistant, you can get out of the car and use the key to make it park itself in the tight spot. So, no struggles.
Aside from that, the top-spec Sorento GT-Line offers heaps to like. With seven seats, plenty of space, lots of great technology and amenities, and a nice drive experience, you might wonder if there's anything it doesn't do right.
Well, there's one big omission that could rule it out for you - depending on what you need from you family SUV, and whether you plan to populate all three rows of seats all the time. Watch the review for Ash Leung's take on the Kia Sorento 2022 GT-Line.

The Sorento has come a long way in its fit and finish and as brand leader. Its a very good car with just a few ticks away from being a great car. If I had a wish list:
    1) Delete all piano black from existence.
    2) Provide a cover for the cup holders (empty bins always collect dust and dirt when not in use)
    3) Change 12v to household plug.
    4) Update USB A to USB C.
    5) Add padding to center console sides for knees.
    6) Add a few mm larger door bins and cell phone charger.
I like the wheels on this one, but wish they offered a black edition similar to what's offered by Toyota on the RAV4 and other manufactures. The fin is odd, but wouldn't be so bad in black. Not a big fan of all the chrome except maybe the single strip at the rocker panel.
BTW, I would guess the Tiger nose refers to the downward slope of the hood with the grills being the nostrils.

It is an excellent vehicle. The Petrol is fine for the Burbs & a few odd long trips, , but the GT Line diesel is the definite all round pick. The hybrid will be a better option again for city based families , leaving the standard petrol almost redundant & it should save you a couple of $$$ yrly in fuel, but the fact the hybrid will be $80k before on roads, might put people off , & particularly in th e fact that the payback period for it is likely to be lengthy . I did note that the claimed economy for the PHEV is 1.6l/100km, but that's wishful thinking . Appears that a few other motoring reports have it at 6.1l/100 km or the same as the diesel , which is a lot more realistic

Hi Steve thanks for sharing. Just wondering if you have any ideas about how many KMs I can get with a Diesel GT Line between refills?

    • @Coastmac2001
      @Coastmac2001 Před 2 lety +2

@@scwong6349 the diesel should be able to easily achieve its 6.1l/100km economy, & quite often under , so you'd be looking at probably a bit over 1000km or so out of a tank , but I'd think that 900 -950 would be more realistic, though it will depend on driving style, traffic conditions & possibly other factors as well. The diesel is far better suited for long distance running & more if you do 25,000km + annually. The hybrid is the best option for 95% urban running & the petrol if you only do occasional long trips & some urban cycles .

@@Coastmac2001 thanks for all the details mate, really insightful! My current petrol car costs $40 a week eventhough I only drive the kids to and from school (3km per single trip on school days, 10k a year at most) so am quite keen to replace it with something more fuel efficient. Having read the numbers you shared I think I'll go for Sport+ diesel as the phev price tag is a bit out of reach for me at this stage :)

@@scwong6349 Kia's are a terrific quality vehicle. Virtually no issues with them . The diesels particularly never or rarely have issues of reliability . They never get DPF issues. They do contain a heating probe within the DPF & that compensates for short town runs heating it to temp before the engine does. The long warranty , servicing should give confidence

Somehow Kia manages to get great reviews from these Channels. But trust me, it's a very average car. Not too bad, but not too good as these channels claim. Within 2 weeks, my Kia Cerato is making lot of vibration kinda noise, worse even the mild engine fan noise is audible to driver.. and yeah, the FM starts playing suddenly when Apple Carplay is on.. most annoying - the sensors aren't no where near accurate, and alerts when it isn't supposed to... It's like, those Oppo, Vivo, kinda smart phones that offer everything yet some of the features aren't as reliable as one would expect.
