The right Ford for your family? Ford Everest 2023 review: Trend Bi-Turbo 4x4 seven-seater test

- The Ford Everest SUV range has plenty of choices, but is the Trend 4x4 seven-seater the best one?
It stacks up really well, according to our family reviewer, Ash Leung, who spent two weeks with this mid-range 4x4 version of the ute-based SUV, which competes against the Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Prado.
The plusses are plenty - the big media screen, spacious cabin with good room in the second and third row seats, a nice easy drive experience and heaps of standard tech and safety equipment. The only issue, really, could be the fact that it's a diesel, and that mightn't suit everyone's ideals.
Watch Ash's review for much more detail and information.

Much better than prado or fortuner.
Awesome exterior and interior. Can't wait to get mine.
Has it broke down yet?
Really love the improved interior but the exterior is the real highlight this car will stand out in any parking lot and every highway…
Great to have you join the team Ash.
Great review! Love this car! Thanks so much
Fantastic review thanks.
Straight to the point. Nice.
This really is the right car for my family. My sister bought 2007 model Ford Everest 4x2. The only major problem is the reverse not function. Mechanic overhaul the transmission and now still running. I love this new gen 2023 Ford Everest Trend base model. Sadly no money to buy.😄😄😄😄😄😄
Awesome review, thank you.
What a great review. Good practical everyday observations Would have been good to see you do the Platinum model.
Very nice. Would like that with a powerful V6 though.
Had my Everest Platinum for over a month now. Drives quite well for its size, well sprung and planted. You won't be able to tell it has a solid axle at the back most of the time. Downside is the weight and the lack of power. Even with the V6 there is barely any acceleration. The touch screen isn't the most responsive/accurate and the software has a few glitches but is mostly ok. The DPF light comes on quite often - definitely don't buy this for city driving. Can't wait for someone to figure out now to tune this engine so I can give it some grunt. Averaging about 14L/100km for 80% city driving.
Do you think a throttle controller could help cut out the lag? Nice to see some honest opinions.
Lol on V6.. Did you drive the V6 version. Even the 2.0 version is fine and smooth to drive.
@@ArkiDeos Platinum is V6
How noisy is the diesel?
Ford is way on the bottom in terms of reliability, they keep on recalling their cars, whether it’s engine problem, rusted chassis or electrical problem! Too many issues for a car manufacturer that has been in business since the 50s.
Had it been in India it would have been the best seller in it's segment.
She is gorgeous and I rate her presentation 9 out of 10. 😊
I Love it in White ❤
What was the drive away price for that particular car with the options and paint?
Probably the most unbiased review 👍
Yes, I agree. Having no idea about cars certainly helps take away any bias.
only saying mindless positive things will do that
I would have to say the Everest has the Same issue as the Ranger with not having a 230V Power Outlet and no Gas Struts for the Bonnet. If you are Shorter then the Bonnet will be an issue.
that is a strong looking exterior
So is the woeful acceleration a factor of the vehicle or the Bi-Turbo engine? We live in semi rural SEQ and often have to overtake trucks and bloody annoying tourists hauling caravans....so getting out, around and back into the lane is important.
Wish the sport came as a 5 seater
Does anyone else think this would be a good fit in the USA? I think this looks somewhat like a bigger Subaru Ascent and would fit perfectly between the Ford Explorer and Expedition.
"My oh my, isn't it big"...I hear those words from time to time...
00:03 That's what she said
We are of the same height, do we need to step on the side step to get in and out?
You can just fall out .
wow the best
Best suv
Driving only short trips isn't just bad for diesels, it isn't good for any car.
Absolutely correct 💯
That wouldn't stop me buying this handsome feature packed Suv
Can you please ELI5 why?
That’s why we have a tesla along with X5 V8. We use the Tesla for short trip.
Diesels have a DPF - filtering the soot, the soot can only burn off once it reaches temp so shorter drives means building up of soot and eventually clogging of the DPF which will put the car into limp mode. Happened regularly to me with our 2014 Subaru outback diesel but my 2018 ford ranger diesel suffers the same short trips but has yet to throw a DPF issue. Not sure if I’ve been lucky or if ford got it right. I’m thinking ford got it right. If they got it right in 2018 I’d wager this being right too and short trips a non issue but worth looking out for feedback from others on this. (there are ways to design the DPF with catalytic converter that results in quicker heating of DPF ie get to temp in min time to burn off soot. In my 2018 ranger experience, no issues with 5-10 min drives over and over without a long drive to burn off)
@gezza3573 sorry to ask a dumb question as I've never driven a diesel car, only diesel trucks that use Adblue or a DPF/Burner which has a manual burn button. Do diesel cars not have this feature?
UNREAL! Ford Everest has A PETROL OPTION!!!
No... they don't.
With parking spots getting smaller Fix Or Repair Daily comes out with bigger and bigger vehicles.
don't buy a RAM buddy
Thank you mama
I think wagons are so much user friendly
That maybe but you can count with one hand who makes wagers now days. Although and suv is a wagon!!! just a bit taller people……!
Pre-order this in Thailand. Been 1 month pass already without a car and without a date when it will arrive.
I’m not sure about this car but many cars are 12-18 month waits in Australia.
Ford South Africa only just started making this car public sales on Friday or so. So orders may take a while.
@@zapher007 thx. Feel so much better now lol.
@@manutzsong I just hope it won’t be that long for you!!
So you don't have Ford explorer in Australia!?
No we don’t
Approximately what price is the ford everest 2023?
FORD have a website, good luck
I like the typical American beasty look of the car.
She said her favourite feature is the powered tail gate, but her claim that she can stay within her lane must be near the top of her list, surely. 🚙
Lol
is this Everest built in Australia or Thailand?
Cars aren't manufactured in Australia.
U704 are built in Thailand and in South Africa.
Australians cant build cars and cant play rugby.
13 Liters / 1KM 😮
In my contry, The Everest 2022 has a gas option
That's because your country would be big on gas, not petrol.
Dayem no cup holders in the boot.
It’d be awesome if people could drive them properly.
It will cost close to 1 million rand. Madness
😂😂it’s almost 900k brother
Miss, what is so wrong about there being no Petrol engine? I mean just cause there's no petrol engine would you and your family actually not buy this car? Its the best Ford Everest so far, you know!
It may be a thing about preference, about the way gas engine works.
Also, not sure if modern diesel cars sold in Australia also require to tank diesel exhaust fluid (Adblue)?
Depending on car model, it could be quite messy.
Then there's dpf, but recent gas cars are also equipped with this (or at least some of them).
Here in South Africa it competes directly with Toyota Fortuner.
I’m really looking forward to seeing them hit the streets…
Great vehicle. Value for money....? No vehicle is value for money. So stop saying that, its Bs.
No 4x4 demonstration?
The fact that a car this size is considered “enough” for a family of 4 is insane. Why do you need to be that lifted? There is no visibility to small children
It has 360 deg cameras. It is the off roader like Prado.
@@EastWood2004 you shouldn’t need a 360 camera to see I kid in front of you. Also why you looking at a camera when driving forward?
Also, why is this considered a normal family car for people in the city? These vehicles have their place but I hate the fact that it’s the normal is insane
@@djdeckstarit has a forward camera so when you approach a down hill slope you can see what's ahead of the car. It has 360 cameras for parking to avoid hitting low objects. This vehicle is designed fkr off road use as well as highway use.....a prime example is where I live. I'm in semi rural Gold Coast Hinterland in south east Queensland Australia. Out here we have mountain ranges, farm properties, long rural high speed roads and are really within minutes of freeways and major city hubs. I can go from a paddock to a three lane freeway in 20 minutes. This vehicle suits my family needs....3 young kids. We need the boot space just to do a fortnight's food shopping trip....and we havnt even begun to do the bike rides along the beach and sports teams on a Saturday morning thing yet with all their sports gear.
@@olivedrabgarage6243 besides farm/off road use (where a vehicle is a tool), all those tasks can be done by a wagon, and in many instances a wagon would be better. I am glad you have a vehicle could meet all your needs but my guess is that people buying cars like these are just doing it to feel "safe" in urban areas
@@djdeckstar
what’s wrong with feeling safe though? And if you can afford it, what’s the problem?
Fortuner is nothing infront of it.
Big enough for a baby and a toddler.🙄🤦♂️🤦♂️
No I recommend the F250 I feel that would be better.
F250 isn’t available everywhere this is a good option
6ft4 folks, and for that reason sorry Ford
Actually sorry to you.
NOT IN THE UNITED STATES
I reckon KIA Sorento Still abit better ! beside their servicing $$$ interval : (
Lol, this will go off-road 😂
@@PaulP580 yes and Sorento will go off the road Lol
Sorento is crap in every way possible compared to this vehicle.
You are kidding, right?
Not much of a review, more like reading the spec sheet.
You very hard to please I think she did great.
Pricy car. Is it really worth $80k?
Trend is not $80k it is only $65k
@@tinaswain1566 80k driveaway
@@komapaiim No, its $65k drive away. Platinum is $80k.
@@Josh92SA that’s not what the ford dealers are saying
If you think 80k is pricy then compare with the GLE 53 amg which is 190K driveaway in Australia.
Cons: It's a Ford.
Spied my first one of these on the road the other day, ugly as.
There is never a Right Ford cause they suck in reliability!
Same with Toyota 😂
Palisade or this?? The Palisade seems much bigger and luxurious...
overpriced do Americans think we are fools ?
Yes
