I have the R-9700DX which seems to be an upgrade to the 9012, or at least a larger version if not an intended "upgrade." I also have a PL-380, and a PL-330, but it's still fun doing non-muting manual analog tuning with the 9700DX and the bigger speaker and longer antenna give me better reception and sound without having to attach a long wire. The 9700DX does have an external antenna jack, so that is a nice option as well.
Nice video! I just bought it online for less than USD11 (in Malaysia). Can't wait to have it soon. As alternative to my 2 digital SW radios - XHDATA D-808 and Tecsun PL-310et. And to learn SW stations the "old school" way..
Tip: lift up the external antenna even on AM for better reception (no need to extend it), as it interferes somewhat with the internal AM antenna. Same as the DR920c...

Here's hoping all the videos in this series have Paul as co-presenter! Cheers 👍🏼
I think Paul wants that radio! It's not bad for a cheap portable.
We are totally cool with Paul the cat, appearing on the video👍

Yes, Tecsun offers really great radios. 73s Ralf
Its Paul`s perfect little analoge world receiver. Do not mess with Paul the "DX" cat! :)
Thanks for informative and entertaining video . The best one I,ve seen! Purrs!
I opted for the R-9710, just because of the “dual-conversion “.
But it’s pretty hard to go wrong with any Tecsun radio.
📻🙂
Left in the video, you can see his whiskers. Nice.
Good and informative. I love this R9012, 73! and greetings to the cat🙏
Good boy Paul! Thank you for posting.
I like the cat. He must like radios too.
Radio cat is a good buddy
Paul just wants cat-alogue more station frequencies. ;-)

Some heavy cat interference on the bands today LOL
A man and a cat reviewing shortwave radios
I can't believe that's a sentence
Looks like Paul is interested in starting his own CZcams channel :-)
Nice radio, even the cat agrees.
I think Paul wants his radio back. 😜
Gotta love the cat.
Did Mr. Paul give his paw of approval?
he approves everything before I can talk about it
Had a small Panasonic that operates like this one. RF 085.
Is fm strong enough? What about mw and sw reception?
You have 10 of these?
LOL ! yes where are the 9 others , thought it was a top ten....
22us dollars isn’t cheap. Its price in China is about 7 US dollars for a brand new 9012.
Is the moggie hearing the birdies?
Does this model have an alarm clock?

good for BBC, ABC, Voice of America the whole day 24 hours?
Stereo FM through headphones is NOT available on this radio.
I am from the Philippines, how can I order it... on line?
Tevsun r909 it doesn t have 25 meter band!from 12.10 to 14.95 this is a big minus
Why did you waste this video if it's a decent radio why didn't you let us hear it unbelievable
