    Features I like best about this radio:
    FM Stereo with headphones sounds fantastic. So many radios in this price category are not including this.
    AM Selectivity is good, my local AM broadcasts come in crystal clear and sound great on the external speaker.
    Short Wave reception is very good with the included wire attached, it was performing just as well as my Tecsun 380 and 310s.
    Analog goodness.
    The build quality is nice, I like the brushed metal dial. Great touch.
    Warranty through Kaito, this is important because the radios that you buy direct from China do not have one here in the states.
    Carrying pouch included, along with headphones.
    Price
    The color combo is nice, its a light pink with a grey back.
    Dedicated On/Off switch.
    Band select switch is made well.
    Manual written in English.
    Things I noticed that I did not like, others may not even be bothered by them.
    Background hiss when using headphones at low volume. Most radios in this price range suffer from this.
    The Chinese writing mixed with the English...its a small thing, but I would be happy with all English printing on the device.
    The Dial has the FM/AM going in the normal direction, while the shortwave bands go in reverse.
    Overall, this would be my go to pick for an inexpensive, analog tuning, World Band Receiver. Sure the Tecsun R9012 and R909 are good, but the FM stereo on this radio made it a winner for me.

    Impressed with this set particularly on the higher bands. I was listening to R.Saudi International this morning on 21670kHz. I think this set may be the "baby brother" of the R-9700DX" although it lacks the 60m 75m bands. There is also a digital clock version the R-9702 - I've just ordered one of these from Anon-Co to see how it performs.

    I have the R9700DX. Nice radio. The only advantage of dual conversion is less Image problems on the higher SW bands.

    Excellent little radio ‼️
    Bought mine through Kaitousa.com .
    Easy . I called, they took the money right off of my debit card. Got shipment within a week.
    Got it to replace my WRX-911.
    Dual Conversion ❗️
    No splatter from strong stations or having a station run all across the dial🙂👍.
    Doesn’t overload when hooked to my external antenna.
    I like it (even if it is pink).

    Excellent review. Your Videos are very well done. Now you made me go and buy another radio the Tecsun R9710. I am a broadcaster with a daily syndicated morning radio show on terrestrial radio (live broadcast) here in Hawaii and on the mainland. I will give your channel a plug on air. Good job!

      Thank you Mr. Morris, I listen to KBIG and KPOA. I have them on my Ocean Digital Wifi radio. Brings back memories of our 09 honeymoon there on the Big Island.

    Hello everybody... What if you cannot get the FM performance?.. mine just get the stations with lots of noise, when others like PL310 simply excels... Do you think it's somethng wrong with the electronics? Any suggestion, guys? Thanks.

    You got yourself a nice non-DSP gem here, great review! Hey do you have a Facebook page or anything like that? I couldn't find you but I'll be happy to send support your way on any platform I'm on. You've been a great help in finding out what's a good buy and what's not and I thank you for that.

    What do you think about this versus the R911? Seems like you gain one more band on the 911 but gain dual conversion on this model.

      @todderbert  Před 6 lety +2

      Hmm, good question, I'm not all about the shortwave, so I would have to pick this one, because I like the FM stereo. If I remember correctly this was one of my better performing small analog SW radios also. This radio impressed me more for sure, and the extra $10 or so is well spent.

      @NickB Před 6 lety +1

      The R-911 (or at least the WRX911 that I own) suffers image breakthrough from strong stations on SW because it's only single conversion. I noticed this on 60m with R. Romania International on 49m.

      This has “dual conversion “ which means more filters so less bleed over/image rejection.

    Good review, looks like a good one to add to the collection... How would you compare it to the other tecsun radios???

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  Před 4 lety +1

      On the budget side of things, the dual conversion is very noticeable on Shortwave when comparing it to say the R9012 and others in the same price bracket.

    Sir, I live in India. How can I order R9710 in India? Please help. I want to gift it to my father.
