I think getting insulted by any of the Top Gear lads is a badge of honour.
It's much better than them trying to find something nice to say about you, because this would probably mean they felt sorry for you..
Perfect 😂
@@jeffhopkins5704 Yea, that's how I first discovered this channel!
he dared to do something different with a car and he succeeded; I can't say that slowcoach May has inspired me to fix cars on my driveway like Mat has...so he can jog off a cliff onto jagged rocks tbf
If the cap fits (knob) lol
true, they are gold of their words, ofc they have different taste also, think jeremy wouldve like it even more :D
I think the fact May called Matt a knob is actually a term of affection... he calls his closest friends it lol.
Well now I’m confused he’s got some?
@@hemtet5500 Well James is very popular...probably more now than ever since he left Top Gear....Food tribe,James Gin,Model railway world record ,Cars STANARD.....
@@andyhunt457 agreed I'd say he's laid better foundations for a future doing only things he enjoys for a living than his colleagues
Yes but they are knobs. Old ones
May is clever. If you're going to roast CZcamsrs pick the popular ones and watch the views on your own channel (and hence the ad revenue income) soar.
Your a funny guy Mat, very entertaining. I've only recently found your channels but I'm loving it all. Thanks for doing it and keep up the good work.
And a knob!
I'm absolutely hooked on your videos and infectious attitude! Here in the US we have several famous car restorers on TV and CZcams. Matt your approach is the best and has me ignoring the state side channels. I'm not into lowering nor wide body look, but watching you transform the Masterati was very enjoyable. Keep up the great work, you are truly awesome!
You know Matt’s doing well when his biggest problem in life is getting his Maserati to start.
have u seen the trunk?
You’ve got a great sense of humour, Mat! Not afraid to take the P out of yourself! Makes you all the better! Well done!
he's not silly he knows all this is going to get him more subscribers, which he deserves
I only just started following you, Mat, and I love every minute of it. You are so real and does things the way everyone else would, by trial and error. In regards to the Maserati, I think it is fantastic. I kinda don't like the widebody kit as I think the car is beautiful in the stock version but it looks like a fun car that I would love to drive. So hats of to you for a good job.
You definitely delt with it in the best way! Like water of a ducks back! I think the maserati looks brilliant, your videos are entertaining and fun to watch! Keep up the good work mate!
I will hold my hands up Mat & say that I have very little interest in the type of cars you rebuild on your channel, however the way you present, your learn as you go attitude & the feel good format of the videos has me coming back every new episode.
Keep up the good work fella.
My Thoughts exactly. Never interested, never got... it agreed with May...not now though. keep it up Matt, great work, you are not just fixing dead motors, you are shifting perspectives and winning audiences.
This is exactly how I feel
@@jonnygeez what agreed with May? And why are you ellipsing?
Same, I only have a provisional. Prefer mountain bikes.
I couldn’t give a toss about cars generally, but Matt makes it interesting
Nice to see that you are man enough to show exactly how it was. Funniest thing I’ve seen a long time, keep it up mate😂
just found this channel from your gt3 vid! its the bolt channels on the bodykit that kill it, if it was a smooth look it would have been amazing. still a great piece of work!
I love you're response to this. Most people would get offended but you sir have taken this on with a smile and played it very smoothly. smoooooth operator
Love the way you have a go at any task in a very humble way. Keep doing what you're doing, who cares what anyone else thinks 👍
It's hard to evolve without critics and competition, by having them comment on your work means you're on the right path. Great spirit, keep up the good work!
i love the car. only thing i can't get past is the kit, its so wavy in reflections. its hard to get that straight on fiberglass but it really really shows on that dark color. i actually just found you threw the purchase of Lz's gt3. great vids, keep it up
Love it Mat. It's taken it to an all new level, on the up and up. Like you say, at the time of the shoot, all it needs is acceleration that matches the looks. By now, you probably have that covered.
Epic reaction, and I enjoyed the short cuts that shows the first start 😂
The beauty with cars is that you can adapt them to suit what you want. What you want will be infinitely different to someone else (Mr May). I'd much rather appreciate our differences and celebrate the fact we can take the same stock car and transform it to match different people.
In a world filled with the need to create labels, focus on differences in a negative light, this is a good reason to celebrate differences and diversity.
tl:dr nice car mate 😂
I’ve been following you for years and I love this build. It’s absolutely stunning! Okay it’s not the most nimble or fastest. But it’s one hell of a cruiser
It’s the first time I’ve seen it and I really like it. You just don’t see them very often and I’ve seen a few at work and they always feel special inside and sound amazing, better than most Ferraris. Great Video Mat!
Love your personality and always enjoy your videos. Wish I had a neighbour like you 😂, have so many issues with my car and can’t seem to find a trustworthy mechanic…
Great entertaining piece again Mat, keep it up, Merry Christmas and hope you have a succesful new year.
Merry Christmas mate really glad you enjoyed it 🙌
I think we all know that James does all this stuff a bit tongue in cheek and your tongue in cheek response was absolutely perfect 😂
You do you - we all love it.
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year from Oakleigh x
Love it, the sound the colour the wheels the interior, and the new steering wheel.
Honestly I just respect people who build cars the way they want to build them and not for others approval. World needs more authenticity, we all got something unique and special to offer, embrace it & have fun.
I love what you did with your Masterati. Your car, your style. Keep up the great work, love watching all your vids :D
Thanks a ton!
Love seeing any new content for the Maserati. It’s like nostalgia 🥲
"i dont want to put me hand in warta wiff electric " i know i will wrap a rag around it
Seen the Masarati before but only just watched this... I love it Mat. I'm fully up to date on all your builds and now I'm catching up on your older vids 👍
Mat, you're absolutely bonkers but that's the point and why people like you. Your heart is also in right place too which helps. Absolute respect! BTW there might be a temporary stand in job at top gear!!!
He's bonkers? It's a productive kind of bonkers.
Waited for this Video. Hope James May will respond or better come to see and drive the car by himself. Would be very cool. The beginning of this video shows absolute perfect the spirit of the channel by showing that not everything works perfect as so it is as usaual at any person. That makes you so outstanding of many others. I like the way you show the problems you have with the cars and then also show how you handle with it and fix it.
Wish you a happy christmas and some quiet days with your friends and family. Greetings from southern Germany.
Watching from cali and ur videos are sick boss💧🔥
Iv only been following you a couple of months started watching while in hospital with a broken back the content is awesome thankyou 🎉
Love where you have come from and love where your channel is going. Keep them videos coming matt.
I appreciate that!
Love 💘you Matt and it's the 19th of December
I like the liberty walk.. it's extreme but that's what sets it apart. Keep up the good work! This channel is the best on CZcams right now!
Glad you enjoy it!
First time I've seen it. I like it! James is flattering you. You're part of the banter in this one.
I loved the maserati build and I still think it looks fantastic. I'm glade you've kept hold of it
I love your content it’s. Helped my get through some hard times allways enjoy coming home to watch ur videos on repeat we also met in person when you was at highcross I’d love to spend the day with you learning stuff about rebuilding cars (I can only hope ) thank you for the cool videos matt keep it up merry Christmas ❤️
Nice one mate, your name isn't Stan is it? 😉
Matt never worry about what everyone else thinks
Your heart will lead you the right way
tops vids mate, you have become my number one channel to watch at breakfast time here in Chiang Mai Thailand.
only just found you and im no car man to me they just get you from a to b but your cars are the nuts i must say and now i watch every one of your videos and cant wait for the next one great work keep it going
Matt, just do what you're like to do that's what makes this channel great and get ya the things you have now. 👍Still a nice car
Mat, we all know that you do what you want and it makes you happy! Seeing you enjoy yourself, makes us lot happy. James May’s time has past and you’re the next generation with a new look on the car scene. Keep up the good work and keep doing what you want.
Spot on bud, I'm old n fkn miserable hate sport cars but I love the Maserati 👌 probably because of mats's enthusiasm time this kid had his own TV slot get rid of that annoying sloth Mike Brewer. Keep Ed China tho be good to see him collaborating with mat. Ps I know Ed seen the light 😉
@@peterbalac1915 I’ve never liked Mike Brewer, he’s too fake. Ed China is fantastic and as real as they come. Mat definitely deserves his own TV show!
We should get Mat to take over wheeler dealers and get him to join up with Ed China. That would be a show I would binge watch
@@Theunderratedlawyerother way round, Edd is a massive bellend, Mike is irritating but genuine.
Mate there's no need to say things like "James May's time has passed." That's just childish.
The ' thinnest bolt you'll ever see' is really a nut !
Gotta love James and his blunt sense of humour
what sense of humor. he reminds me of mop that has no bucket.
@@alrightythen821 the blokes a boring person. Never liked James may.
@@Audifans555 he's absolutely brilliant
Hi Mat. For slim nuts like that, you can grind an old socket which should allow you to grip the nut. The problem with sockets is they have an internal radius which needs to be removed for slim nuts like this. Try grinding a few mm off it using a grinder or belt sander.
Matt - Answer to your question!
I believe that component on the steering wheel is a circlip, you can get a tool which goes into the holes and opens it up! Pretty common component in the engineering world
Mat: "This Granturismo is really slow and heavy"
Me: **Cries in 1.2 Seat Ibiza**
Your doing it to satisfy yourself not for the views and not for anyone else. Can see the passion you have for doing these cars. I absolutely love watching your videos check daily incase you uploaded
You're*
And, in case*
Pretty new to your channel but loving it - love that you’re prepared to laugh at yourself and don’t take life too seriously! It’s a fun watch and takes my mind of things! 👍 I’ve subscribed and am awaiting the next raffle lol 😊
Matt! New to the Chanel and kudos! Living the dream 🤘however, my pet hate and what I drum into guys when I train them up in the workshop is.. nuts and bolts ! A nut holds the steering wheel on .. not a bolt! Hence the the problem is normally the big nut behind the wheel !
Love what you’re doing so keep it up you legend !
I think it looks pretty awesome! Sounds amazing too even if it’s not so good on the road, definitely has a place in a car collection 😊
I'm with James on this one, but I love your vids! keep up the good work
Those wheels and arches are heinous.
@@jamesrobert4106
It's a maserati, who cares.
I think it looks nice, think it would look better if you blended the bodykit in with filler or something though so it doesnt look like its a bolt on
Have you seen any Rocketbunny kits before?
@@AdminAbuse I have yeah, i just think the look of them without the bolt on look, looks better
Mat you are the man! I know you already know but I know it’s nice to hear it! Please keep up the great work
Looks good matt , first time I’ve seen it , if there is one thing I’m not keen on it would be the colour, but I could live with that , I’ll swap you my Abarth 595 Comp 😂
This build is definitely not for everyone's taste but it does have it's own meaning! The car is one of a kind and by the means of it, you either love it or hate it! You should send it to the US, there you'll find plenty of people who would die for it! Oooops, too bad, steering on the wrong side XD keep it up Mat, you do an incredible job!
Hi Mat, this car is the reason I'm now a massive fan of yours. I thought I'd buy a cheap granturismo a put a Liberty Walk kit on and had a look online to see if anyone had done it before 😁 I love your car, the colour is amazing 👌👌
Mat, I think the look is definitely “mental”. I’ve never been a fan of Maserati, but I dig this build. Loving the wide body kit. It’s different and different is cool (sometimes).
Your an absolute legend mate. Loving the content. Don’t fret about Captain Slow. Haha.
As a guy of James May’s generation I can see why he thinks you’re a knob, but as someone who manages young teams to me you’re a legend- I love your work! Keep it up!
The car hardly runs, the air ride fills up the whole trunk and makes it scrape on the ground, the bodykit ruins the beautiful body (best part of the car), it leaks water and fries the electrical, probably from the added on spoiler. He calls a nut a bolt as he beats it with a hammer?!? Proper knob. He might as well have a $500 Honda civic with $50k of modzzz, it would take this abuse better. This is not a generational divide, this is appreciating cars vs look at my sick rimzzz bro.
@@apodski I love the body kit. The Maser was never a pretty car anyway.
You made your passion your day job. F all the rest! Well done mate!
I'm a new fan from SA. I'm not fond of the wide body look, however, other than that, your Maserati is an awesome car. Sounds great, very nice leather interior, like the way it lifts up for the speed bumps. Would definitely need that here!
Love the look of the Mazz.. Wheels are immense... and I mean, why not, if we can.. We do!! Loving your work
Mat, that's not very nice to what he called you! To be totally honest I think that it's the other way around 💯💯👍
probably didn't mean it but may isnt a knob
@@longbar2344 fair play but not a nice thing to say buddy!!!...
@@badboyalan agreed brother, May's times up,past and Mat is the new breed of fun,and he is bloody funny and kewl to watch!👊👍💪💪💪👌
That's a classic saying so funny 🤣🤣🤣😯
No James May was absolutely right about it, he is a nob and that’s being polite
Matty boy , you are the new future of motoring videos and it’s time James May hung up his car keys mate
i honestly love this Maserati, this looks AWSOME, i don't care how fast it is, the way it looks and the way it sounds is just THE BEST
Awesome video and I def dig the masarati its a sweet ride and looks awesome with the wide body libertywalk kit on it ! James calling ya a knob is a term of endearment lmao haha 😄
He’s kinda right you somehow made it look more like a Honda/Toyota than a massi
that Masterati is so insanely beautiful. it is perfect in my eyes !! James may GO HOME
Agree
That 'May' watches your vids is high praise in deed. I bet your subs went up :-)
First time seeing the massarati and if lottery numbers come up I'd try to buy it from you.its stunningly beautiful matt..I discovered your channel 2mnth ago and I'm trying to watch every build so don't stop m8,your doing a fantastic job.
I'll keep it warm for you matt lol. Send it my way.
Who in their right mind wouldn’t subscribe? The smiles just keep coming. Love your drive and determination Mat. Anyway, who is James May? 😊
You're a class act Mat. Respect.
Sayin his car is not pants as he jump starting it 😂 KNOB
It’s a car, not the Mona Lisa. That’s one of the beauties of car ownership. Personalization. Enjoy, Matt!👍👍👍
Smashed it matt. We do cars to be individual and not follow the mind dead sheep that believe the sales brochure. Top man carry on
My dad has an old mg b roadster he’s had it for 33 years it sits on the drive through winter and always starts up first time it’s an absolute trooper
Big up matt the car looks mega and to even get that reaction of james is hilarious you know captain slow isdying to take it for a spin
Hey matt think u should deffo get ot mapped stage 3 fully forge it would be crazy and also good content..I think it look sick always have lol
Banging Mat keep up the good work & love your nrg & always smiling know matter what.
Stafe Marc xxx
Mat, to solve your issue with the flat nut. All you need to do is grind down your socket to take the bevel out of the ID to make it flush. Cheers!!! Love your videos. My son and I are about setup to start our car channel
"Absolute Spanner like myself", love the honesty, could do a Video with James May
Loved it mate, great work on the car, it looks spectacular for what it is
Great vid man. Agreed about not taking everything soooooo serious 😂
Love it! Looks stunning mate.
First time discovering your pants Maserati. I'm working with my psychologist to accept that I can modify cars to my taste instead of keeping them stock. You are already there. Well done Mat.
I think this Maserati build is bad ass especially with the Liberty Walk widebody 👌👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just got tuned into your videos thanks so much. You can make the socket you needed for the steering wheel by zip cutting the end of the socket so that it is not a chamfered end.
Having a Top Gear lad insult you is like Weird Al doing one of your songs ; You've made it.
A couple of things so you won't appear to be a knob... 1. Never charge a dead battery with your alternator, you could damage the alternator. Remove it and charge it properly with a charger. 2. If you have a water leak fix it or the entire interior will be covered in mold very shortly. 3. Never let anyone see you use a crescent wrench. Ever. 4. Taping over a bad connection is not a proper fix. Repair the connection then use heat shrink! Ok, I'm done.
Such a dope car!! First time seeing it. Very nice mat! U have good taste in all ur builds
It's not about what I, May or anyone else thinks. It's what you think. And if you like it then there is no discussion. I personally wouldn't have gone down this road with a Granturismo but at the same time I can appreciate it. Normally I would hate the color but it just fits this car.
I literally just started watching you channel after I saw you on Schmee. You have this genuine and down to earth vibe about you. Keep it up. As a matter of fact I just subscribed. Interested to see how the M5 turns out.
man, those wheels look good on that scion FR-S
I would agree with James. The grand torismo is a bit pants in standard form but I love what you’ve done to yours. And there’s more to a car than 0-60 times. That engine sounds stunning! I’d take a golf r32 over a gti any day. It’s slower, not as good on fuel and doesn’t take corners as well but the soundtrack 😎 sound over top speed any day
I think it's a very cool ride..but I love Maserati and I got to see Poseidon in Bologna holding the inspiration for the Marque) very cool
First time seeing it, not my color but the build is absolutely insane, straight outta NfS.
I love it! You do you! I love your energy and your approach to life, keep it up!
Actually has anyone ever thought that Matt should be the next presenter of Top Gear 😮
That build is fire 🔥🔥🔥 💪🏽💯
Had a GranTurismo for 3 years and used a trickle charger. The car was bullet proof and never went wrong all the time I had it. Apart from usual standard dealer servicing it was a great GT and we drove it across Europe a few times.
