The first country to ever attack Taiwan with warship was the US in 1867. and the country that supported japan invading Taiwan during the mudan incident , was the US in 1874. the country that sold weapons to japan during the first Sino- Japanese war, 1894 1895 leading to china's defeat , forcing china to cede Taiwan to japan, was the US from 1894 to 1895. the country that actively pushes for Japanese containment of china, in Taiwanese containment of mainland china is the US from the 19th century until today . So can we really say that the US is our friend ? i mean we are being used to serve US imperialist interests . these recent events show us that so-called Taiwan separatism is not true independence , but it further embroils Taiwan into serving US imperialist interests . True independence means independence from this sort of hegemonic , unequal relationship where you don't even have dignity as a human being and where each one are equal citizens with equal rights and have to our voices heard as equal citizens and not subjects of the western empire.. ..

If this is truly a personal trip by Pelosi, she should have travelled on commercial jets with no entourage. In fact US also dispatched fighter jets and aircraft carrier fleet to escort her to ensure her safety. This is of course a service to her as the Speaker of the House, not as a US citizen. When Newt Gingrich visited TW in 1997, China actually gave the green light on the compromise that she would not fly directly from China to TW. Gingrich also had close door meetings and no press conference. So to a certain extent, he was very careful in his handling of the trip. In comparison, Pelosi made her visit high profile with all sorts of agenda. Is she aware that BJ will react - of course she does. Does she give a fxxk - absolutely not. So she is clearly the culprit who has created this mess for US, China and TW

Blinken: We've seen how Beijing has attempted to change the status quo for some time. For example, more than doubling the number of aircraft flown over the centerline that separates China and Taiwan for the past 2 years.
The truth: We've seen how the US has attempted to change the status quo of the Taiwan question for some time. For example, sailing warships through Chinese territory of the Taiwan strait that separates China's Taiwan from Mainland China, and sending high-level delegates into Chinese territory of China's Taiwan without Chinese government's approval.
Yes, China is more than doubling the number of aircraft flown over the Chinese territories' centerline that separates China's Taiwan Province and Fujian Province on Mainland China. Yes, China is just flying over its own territory. There is just a centerline that separates two different provinces of China. It's just a provincial border, not a border between different independent countries.

Actually the Taiwanese straight for the most part is international waters. The US the British and whoever else feels like sailing their ships through there have every right to do so. China is a bully and a land grabber as has been proven by the multiple islands in the South China and Philippine Seas that they have stolen and have no right to and militarized. So what do you think Japan the Philippines, South Korea are going to stand by while China encroaches on their territory militarizing these islands they have no right to? Just like the days of Russia bullying everybody is over with the same goes for China and they know it that's why they're throwing their little temper tantrums in reality there's nothing they can do about it. The Taiwanese people don't want a war with China they just want to be left alone and be free they don't want to be controlled under a brutal dictatorship and communist system and they have every right to be free of that. But if China wants War then that's what they'll get, no one in the west is intimidated by China.

Apple is a corporation who cares about profits, they likely had their arm twisted. They have no say in any political matter. You didn't say anything that supports your claim or argues against the Taiwanese position.
Alaska and Hawaii aren't comparable because they weren't separately governed and unintegrated for the entirety of the US government's existence. It's a poor analogy. In any case, although there would be resistance to splitting, people are not generally vehemently against the idea of say, California splitting off (which some of them propose doing). And we can talk about the idea without treating it as sacrilege and getting all offended. If California forcefully split away for 50 years or so, it would be right to think of them as independent IMO--assuming their people wanted to remain separate. Even if there was originally no legitimate right for them to separate, if they manage themselves separately for generations, separation becomes legitimate. And FYI states are intended to be nearly like separate countries with unique governance, so it matters less here.
Also there are repeated referendums by the Scottish people to leave the UK (~2 per decade I think). It would be taken very badly if the UK said they would punish people for even discussing Scottish independence or would make Scotland stay through military force, etc.

    Why talk ?
    A country with no honour,
Drills just continue...cut all talk and communications.

“Peace” isn’t achieved through war, it’s achieved through mutual understanding and agreement.

I like how small territories are more important to everyone than the planet they exist on. Its like spending all your time getting a splinter out of your foot while cancer is raging through your body. Could we please cool our heads and keep our priorities straight here?

Well, my fellow human citizens around the world….we’ve had a good run. At least we all go out together. This only escalates to one outcome. It’s too bad. I would have liked to see human kind make further advances in space exploration

Americans consume about double the amount of co2 compared to germans or chinese per capita. For water consumption americans are double the chinese, about 8 times of germans per capita. According to statista. Similar results for plastic waste and energy usage. China rightfully suspended climate talks, americans should lower their pollution and energy consumption to at least european level or even chinese level first.

Have to agree with China: it's a waste of time talking to the US and a treaty or agreement signed by the US is not worth the paper it's written on tomorrow.
