Here are the next 3 episodes in my TNG run! This time it is Family and both parts of Redemption! Yes, I know I should have watched Yesterday's Enterprise before hand and I am sorry that I didn't but people have explained that episode to me in the comments (after I filmed this) so I do know more about what actually happened before Redemption. Next episodes are Unification parts 1 and 2!
I hope you enjoyed the reactions! Have a great day! :)

Everyone is saying that "Yesterday's Enterprise" would have provided more context before watching "Redemption", which is true, and it's a good episode... but honestly, the whole Yar/Sela storyline is rather banal.
The episodes that provide the necessary context for the Klingon arc leading up to "Redemption" are "Sins of the Father" and "Reunion". That's a MUCH more interesting storyline.

Worf was introduced to prune juice in the second season. His intial reaction was "A warrior's drink".
Sela's connection to Tasha Yar is explained in the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise". Easily one of the top ten TNG episodes of all time. Maybe even top ten of all Trek. What happened to Tasha Yar is explained in " The Skin of Evil".
BTW Romulans are an offshoot of Vulcans. The upcoming "Reunification" explains some of that. "Reunification" actually sets up the 2009 Star Trek movie.

Worf's son Alexander (named by his mother) is the son of Worf & Keylahr. Keylahr was half human. She was also a diplomat and, as a diplomat, crossed paths with Duras. To keep his secret, he murdered Keylahr. Worf found out, was furious, & exacted vengeance right -- dueled Duras to the death.
    Ka'pla translates as victory.
Klingons are direct. They detest "beating around the bush" or smalltalk as signs of weakness.
Following the Khitomer Accords (treaty between Klingon Empire & Federation), a Klingon military outpost was established on the planet to keep an eye on the Romulans. Mogh was sent there with his wife. Because Kurn was still a toddler, he was left with a trusted friend; so Mogh, wife & little Worf went to settle Khitomer.
The Romulans attacked, destroying the colony. The first starship to respond to their distress call was a Starfleet vessel on which Sergei Rozenko served. Only 2 survivors were found: a little boy clinging to his father's Bat'leH; & an old woman. When no family was found of Worf, Sergei & his wife adopted the boy, & raised him with opportunities to learn his Klingon culture.
Fun fact: Mogh is the son of Colonel Worv, who defended Kirk & McCoy in ST: The Undiscovered Country.
The background of Sela is that an act by Picard created an alternate timeline, in which the Federation is losing an all-out war. Alternate Picard still has Alternate Tasha Yar as security chief. Into this mess arrived the Enterprise-C, thus ensuring the current war. So many crew had died that Alternate Tasha joined the crew to return to the battle with the Romulans.
You're right to distrust Gowron. During war with the Cardassian Empire (ST:DS9), an officer named Martok rose in popularity until Gowron felt threatened by him. The Klingon tactics then change to put Martok & his crew into life-threatening situations. Gowron throws away Klingon lives.
We eventually see a duel between Worf & Gowron!
Sela is played by Denise Crosby, the same actress. After writing Tasha out of the show, everyone regretted it. Denise even wanted back, provided she's offered a meatier role. The Romulan commander Sela was the result.
Sela's hairstyle is the Romulan hairstyle. You can tell Romulans apart from Vulcans because of the peaked bangs, and the pronounced brow ridge. The bangs accentuate the brow ridge.

It is great to see you getting so hooked on this show. Over the 7 seasons of TNG and 7 seasons of Deep Space 9, all that you were excited about (and more) is explored in greater depth. The issues of Data being an android and its implications, how close can an artificial life form get to the biological version, Klingon, Romulan, Borg, and other important species' politics, wars, and interactions with the Federation, family issues of the crew, and so forth. Gowron does return from time to time, which should be no spoiler considering his position. Not only does Star Trek have time travel, they had alternate timelines and loops before JJ did his thing in 2009. There were endless possibilities, many thrashed out for dramatic and even comedic gold. And I am not even talking about Voyager and Enterprise. They did similar things in totally different circumstances.
The Star Trek universe is chock full of great, thought provoking entertainment. This little glimpse is getting you primed for the next movies, and well so, but I am sure as you venture into the rest of the material at your own pace, you will find much treasure.

The three characters have experienced loss in different ways.
Worf lost his parents in a Romulan attack but gained his human family when he was rescued. Worf's father was accused of giving away the shield codes and that, to a Klingon, is the highest dishonour. Worf accepted discommedation (basically banishment for him and all his family) and it took his Human parents to say "you're not alone in this".
Wesley lost his Father and had trouble dealing with it but he had his mother. Picard became something of a father figure to him.
Picard lost himself and it took Robert to help find himself again.

Q'pla ! means To victory! in Klingonese.
Yes Romulans are former Vulcans who fled Vulcan's Awakening (Quest for Logic era led by Surak) and founded the Romulan Empire 2000 years before TNG. They always try to either reunify with Vulcan (aka by invading it) or destabilize either the Federation or the Klingon Empire which are the dominant powers in the Quadrant. As the Romulans don't have superior ships in speed or in numbers, at least they didn't until early 24th Century, they use ruse and strategic plots to gain territory and influence without a fight, they also invented the cloaking shield tech that the Klingons use also. Ambassador Nankus in ST VI was a Romulan (although at that time, they didn't show the ridges on their foreheads) so yes, the Romulans were involved in the plot of Undiscovered Country just as they are in Redemption. Work's father was killed during a Romulan attack that ended their alliance and later the Duras family who participated in that attack blamed Worf's family for the treason (shields were sabotaged to get the Klingons easily destroyed), Worf was found by a Starfleet rescue party led by Serguei Rozhenko who adopted him.
The previous Chancelor, K'empec was assassinated most likely with the help of Romulans (via poison in the wine, K'empec knew that but it was way too late to get an anti poison but he asked Picard to not net the culprit take the helm of the Empire...).

I think you’re starting to connect what is important information from the episodes for the upcoming movies. I don’t want to confirm or deny any of the theories you’ve said in your reviews so as to spoil the upcoming films which is why I try not to comment on anything specific about your reviews.
Watching some Star Trek: The Next Generation before bedtime? Well that takes me back to my childhood and teen years when watching this show! Where I lived it aired on Sunday nights at 10:30pm and so as a kid my parents let me stay up late to watch it. By the time I was a teen I had my own tv in my bedroom so could watch it. In fact when Star Trek: Deep Space Nine premiered it also aired on Sunday nights. It came on at 9:00pm. So when the two series were both still on I’d watch DS9 at 9pm on channel 25 and then watch TNG at 10:30pm on channel 4. Sunday nights were very much sci-fi tv watching in my house in the 1990s...even reruns of TNG. We’d watch SeaQuest DSV at 7pm on channel 4, Babylon 5 at 8pm on channel 34, DS9 at 9pm on channel 25, then watch the 10 o’clock news on channel 9 followed by TNG at 10:30pm on channel 4.

One thing I learned while taking acting at my college is that one thing you should do is always figure what your character wants, not so much on a surface level, but deep down, such as (I need you to respect me, I feel like I'm not loved, I feel like you don't pay attention to me). And then when you read through your script, write down good VERBS about tge tactics you will use in that scene to get what you want.
One thing my teacher told me is not always stay in the same mood. Even if a character may be angry, don't read through your monolgue - change tactics, suchlike he angry, then switch over to a different moid like mocking. Again, you have probably heard do much about manipulate when it comes to directing film, but actors are manipulators. And a real good monologue consists of one in which you show a story arc, even if your monologue is only minute.
You should take acting, Oliver, at your University. Unfortunately, going through scenes with a scene partner is generally not done in acting 1. Acting 1 is more like getting you over your stage freight, being comfortable, knowing some key terms, and having fun. In acting 2, you might get a scene partner. Unfortunately, scene study is usually locked to majors only but uf you get a chance take it. Or, if you've a film department, see if your college offers Acting For Television. Depending on the college's budget, they might even film your scenes. One if my scenes was recorded snd I uploaded it to my CZcams channel. Heck, I even got to participate in a film short, which I also uploaded and is on the bottom of my CZcams, "Tin Gun Tommy."

There is a little plothole opened here, since Redemption Part 1 aired about six months before Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country, where you saw Gorkon's daughter take over the High Council. Gowron states that women may not serve on the council. (Maybe Azetbur did a bad job and they changed the rules after her!)

These are great episodes to react to, but also slightly open a rabbit hole related to Tasha Yar's character. There are two different explanations given if you want to watch those episodes (both are great btw, and worth a reaction). I will say that neither of those 2 particular episodes are essential to the next series of movies you'll watch, but do greatly help explain various plot points (including this one in fact). The first episode is titled Skin of Evil (Season 1, Episode 23). The second is titled, "Yesterday's Enterprise" in Season 3, Episode 15). It makes this episode and some others in the future so much more relatable. I have not seen too many mentions, so let me offer a suggestion for you to watch. The first is called, Datalore (Season 1, Episode 12). The next episode(s) a two-parter is "Decent - Part 1" (Season 6, Episode 26 - the cliffhanger), and obviously "Decent - Part 2" (Season 7, Episode 1). I would also recommend watching, "I, Borg" it is in Season 5, Episode 23. I can say that the Tasha Yar stuff is pretty huge in the series, and especially the series finale, but has less importance in the new movies you will watch (starting with Generations). While the other episodes I mention to hold very key plot points in the upcoming movies if you want to get references for thise when they happen, definitely watch all of those. I'd even add the episode about the "Silicon Avatar" (Season 5, Episode 4) and an episode called, "Tapestry" in Season 6, Episode 15. It is a Q episode btw, and pretty funny as well. I would highly recommend watching Reunification parts 1 and part 2 by the way. They occur in Season 5, Episode 7 and Episode 8. I'll only give a very, very brief spoil (something I only ever rarely do,but these episodes have dialogue and actual interaction between Spock and CMDR: Data), and the scenes are masterful. By my count, you'potentially be adding approximately 6 (maybe 7) more hours.of viewing time and editing...... Look...... I totally understand that, but I only steer you on this path based on the reactions and behaviors and excitement I have see for the content you already have produced, with very great results. My list is a mere suggestion should you choose to bounce outside a few comfort zones and really get into the show, which is always how Roddenberry wanted his shows to capture the audiences curiosity to make it difficult for them to stay away. One of the most fantastic television series in my lifetime. It is a privilege to watch and to show my nieces and nephews and we watch an episode evertime they stop by my house.

I don't know if he's still doing this, but in the 1990's every time Robert O'Reilly (The actor who plays Gowron) would appear at a convention, just before he would appear, he'd have someone shout "The Duras Family will rule the Empire!"
Then he would step on stage, shine a flashlight upwards into his face highlighting his eyes and say: "Perhaps, but not today!"
Just about every episode of TNG that features Data is a really good episode but the very best Data episodes of all are "The Measure of a Man" and "Brothers". The latter episode also provides more preparation for the movies.
It would do well to watch the episode "Datalore" first though, but not totally necessary.
Also not totally necessary, but if you want to complete the arc of this story line, after "Brothers" watch:
    "I, Borg"
    "Descent, Part I"
    "Descent, Part II"
    Best Regards!

Ollie, before you do the Next Generation movies you must do a Star Trek original episode called "Metamorphosis" for a very important character who will be in one of the movies. We all knew and understood this character going into the movies, and it's best if you do too. And it's also a "chill" episode. 🖖😎

I tried to scan through the comments to see if anyone answered your question but didn't spot a response. If someone already did, then pardon the repetition. The titles for TNG's season 5 are different. For that season only, there's a flare below the title which was done because it was the 5th season of the show (and humans place values on 5 and 10 in a decimal system which is all on account of having ten fingers on our hands) and because it was also the 25th anniversary of the original Star Trek. The change was just a little way to celebrate the milestones. Season 7's title fonts would also have slightly more serif than before to commemorate it being TNG's final season.

27:43 a Romulan. Another antagonist species. Vulcans and Romulans shares common ancestors, thus are similar. But while Vulcans follows logic, Romulans follows passion, and seeks power through manipulation, intrigues and war. There are honorable Romulans, though. I suggest to you the classical episode of the Original Series: "Balance of Terror".

Picards' breakdown in _Family_ is my second-favourite acting moment from Patrik Stewart in this show, only surpassed by his performance at the end of _Sarek_ in late-Season 3.
I'm a bit puzzled why _Redemption_ was suggested to you, though. Don't get me wrong, it is a great two-parter, but in order to really *get* it, you need a lot of context.
_The Next Generation_ *was* an episodic show, but there were a few overarching Story-Arcs and _Redemption_ combined two of them: The Tasha-Subplot, which begun with her death in _Skin of Evil_ (Season 1), was continued in _Yesterdays' Enterprise_ (Season 3) and _The Mind's Eye_ (Season 4, kinda, but its events foreshadow _Redemption)._ The Sela-Plotline was continued in _Unification Parts 1/2_ in Season 5.
Meanwhile, there is the Worf/Klingon-Subplot which comprises _The Emissary_ (Season 2), _Sins of the Father_ (Season 3) and _Reunion_ (Season 4). A lot to unpack in both Arcs.

FYI - in-between the end of the series and the where the 2nd movie picks up, Worf leaves the Enterprise to take yet another promotion on Deep Space 9, where he gets to command the first "Battleship" Starfleet specifically built for battle (The Defiant), and to take on The Borg, instead of well armed science/exploration wessels. Without that tidbit you may be confused for a few mo about what is going on with Worf
