- THINGS WAS GOING SO WELL UNTIL!!
solo hiking and wild camping up on the Ilkley moors using my lightweight backpacking equipment from outdoor vitals.
I INJURED my leg after slipping on a wet rock. my left leg went all the way into the water, and my right leg slammed down hard onto the rocks.
At this point, I decided to just find somewhere to put up my outdoor vitals dominion 1P lightweight⁹ backpacking tent and settle down for the night.

It's a long video, but there's a lot going on within this video.
My right leg is still bad. 😮
I've been injured a few times this year too, it's very annoying but don't push too fast and make it worse again mate.
Drone haha I don't fly mine in the rain though man.
Have you considered going camping with The Blot Outdoors Show?
stretch carefully and regularly (the pain and stiffness is your body natural reaction to heal itself but this way it`ll take 3 months,...lol) Massages are good too and my prescription :)
That stone circle Dan. Me and some pals were discussing it today before I watched this video. We were discussing that it's meant to have some kind of UFO connection somewhere in modern history. We're gonna do some more research and visit it ourselves. Now, I think sometime in the 1970s there was some kind of close encounter on Ilkley Moor. It was a cop that attended and he had some lost and unaccounted time. I believe they did some hypnotic regression on him and what came out was that it appeared that he may well have had some kind of abduction experience. I'll see if I can find the article and let you know what it is.
Yet another good one 👍
That scenery!!!! 😍
As a retired land surveyor they are trig points. The brass plate on top was for setting a theodolite up on and the arrow on the side a height above sea level.
Great information
Oh is that the missing link that Dan is looking for?... A theodolite like a troglodyte?
Is a theodolite like the troglodyte Dan is looking for?.. Lol😅
I have fantastic memories of camping with my kids and their dad when my kids were little!! I loved waking up to the animals in the morning!! I bet we must have camped at least a couple hundred times over the years!!! I miss camping but I'm a woman and would be afraid to go out alone to camp nowdays. Its a scary world we live in today!!! Hope your leg gets better soon Dan!!!
You know what, Dan?...there are loads of wild campers on CZcams but you really are one of the most interesting
I hope in a good way 🤣🤣
@@englishwoodsman In a very good way....inspirational way
The cordoned off bit is where they are rewetting the peat to prevent flooding.
Hi Dan, The golf balls!!! I am not a expert or a smart arse! But I think a satellite is in the sky, I believe these are ground radars probably looking to find flying saucers or other nasties, I saw big foot while on a trip to Scotland, he was waiting for a train home, I asked wow how tall are you he said 6ft 8 inches and a size 13 shoe! Yellow posts maybe gas pipe line markers! Keep up the good work Dan, Ur a funny chap! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Cheers Mark!
Awesome video as always Dan! 👌
A very interesting watch. Thanks! Hope the leg heals quickly.😊
Hey we all do it lol better out than in and just shows you have a sense of humour and don’t take things to seriously 🤣
Nice to see your on Ilkley More bar t'at!
More to come!
Trig points have two references on them. On the top is a three pronged metal shape that the surveying equipment used to sit on. They take bearings on other trig points and by a massive amount of work create an accurate map. They also need a reference mark so they can take bearings to see how far above and below each one is, so the map is 3D. The plaque on the side is the reference point for that. Its also got the trig point number on it. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much
Good info, thanks🙂...
I new that what there for but people said i was wrong great info
Those piles of rocks are Cairns, used as trail markers. Really handy for navigating during bad fog conditions. Great videos mate, you inspired me to get my old wild camping gear out of storage and get back into the outdoors. Going to bring my 16yr old son for his first wild camp in the next couple of weeks 👍
Just found your channel last week Ive been loving the content I go to sleep to it because your videos are so peaceful
Welcome to the channel 😀
Tough on a bum leg.... You did great... hope you heal quickly
Drone!!
My Gran used to say (when your bottom back fired) where air you be, let the wind blow free, church or chaple, let it rattle🤣😂
The little bench seating area where the little post box was, on the seating it said Stanza stone poetry trail! On the post box itself the top said poetry in & the bottom said poetry out,
The writing on the stones were a poem, I think one about puddles & the other one about deer, You need to go back to do the poetry trail, ( once your leg is better)
Great long video, fab scenery, keep up the good work, 😊
Dan always carry a bottle of deep heat spray, heat patches or reusable ice pack on every camp and plasters. I carry all just in case, rather have than not. I won't leave without emergency stuff, having had accidents previously. I just came back from a B.hol camp, first one of the year and loved it. Weather was bliss. Stay safe and blessed. I hope you recover with your injury soon. 🙏🏿
We grew up near Clee Hill. There's golf balls up there. I'm sure the tall trees had their tops cropped so the planes could fly lower, a poor old lady said she could see the piolate. Great vid hope you get better soon.👍🦊
I seen plane all day but not low down
Ey up me duck.
A decent hike and camp was that. Hope your leg is better me owd.
Ay a good'un brother 👣🤜🤛
Marker posts @ 23:33- I don't know about the moors in England but in Scotland these markers are used by gamekeepers to locate the position of the trays for medicated grit to keep the grouse healthy.
Hi Dan, that is a great location to camp 🏕, hope your leg gets well soon 😀.. .atb...jeff
Jeffiow I was thinking about your channel today because one time we both uploaded around the same times

Love this video, I am very interested in stone circles etc
Sorry to hear you have pain . Sounds like Bursitis which I had .good news it goes . Get to doctors for diagnosis.
Get yourself fit for the hills . Could be a good few videos of you getting fit mate !
Good one great location hope the leg gets better soon. Cheers. B. K
It's still in pain now
I was up ilkley moor on Saturday for a ride on my bike I’m guessing this would of been filmed on the Sunday, can’t wait to meet you by chance sometime altho I’d like to be off video we went out for a wild bbq on Sunday too!!
I think the yellow posts mark underground pipes or cables for the radar base or a radio \ tv mast etc
Nice one Dan, hope your leg heals well
It's still bad today
That tent reminds me of a MSR tent , same colours .
I need to look at this bob
And the man is back !!! Great video Dan👍👍👍👍
Hopefully out next weekend as well
Dan,another good wee vid, keep going lol good for the mental health just go at your own pace, yur legs wont drop off lol your fitness ok just keep moving it wil get easier when you get used to the hills.

Don’t forget the Drone, hope you heal up fast 👍
Thank you
Yes BF, Come to the SE US.
Great video as always mate. I love the poetry postbox
Second best only to Betties is a gander up Ilkley moor to take your breath away.
The Trigpoint tells you where your are on the map, the benchmark tell you how high your are above sea level. All the best
Great video when I was a kid I was invited to the American town that situated next to the golf balls. It’s a fairly big estate with American shops. It was Halloween night I was invited to and it was just like you see on American TV television programs where everybody’s door was open and there was candy, by the ton every house it was amazing. The stone Circle is quite interesting really it dates back to the bronze age it’s around thousand years older than Stonehenge who knows what it was used for probably religion of some sort.
Thank you for watching
The gold ball looking domes you are talking about are called doppler radars,
The WSR-88D are the most powerful doppler in the world. Their main function is weather, we have several here in Oklahoma, being in tornado ally, they are critical for our safety, although it still takes a chaser or law enforcement to verify the tornado is on the ground, as the radar vision is straight ahead into the middle of the storms,
👍👍👍
DRAWN... there you go!
I’ve always liked the woodland camping. When you’re cooking on the twig stoves.
Hopefully next weekend
Stone circles - A stone circle is a ring of standing stones. Most are found in Northwestern Europe - especially in Britain, Ireland, and Brittany - and typically date from the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, with most being built from 3000 BC. The best known examples include those at the henge monument at Avebury, the Rollright Stones, and elements within the ring of standing stones at Stonehenge. Scattered examples exist from other parts of Europe. Later, during the Iron Age, stone circles were built in southern Scandinavia.
Stone circles are usually grouped in terms of the shape and size of the stones, the span of their radius, and their population within the local area. Although many theories have been advanced to explain their use, usually related to providing a setting for ceremony or ritual, no consensus exists among archaeologists regarding their intended function. Their construction often involved considerable communal effort, including specialist tasks such as planning, quarrying, transportation, laying the foundation trenches, and final construction.
A drone shot of area would have been really nice, just like normal whenever we go on a trip we always forget 1 thing or another one time hubby forgot to pack his undershirts so had to buy new when we got to where we were going, then tells M e not to forget anything
great video dan been ilkley many times but never ilkley moor so thanks for sharing keep up the good work
Thank you for watching
'You Da Man!' Walking so far...and too far on a bad leg! I did not need to hear about Big Foot or UFOs when there was such fine scenery about. What a fine place you have shown us.
Hi Sorry to hear about your leg, Sending prayers, I enjoy your adventures.
Still no better today
Good to see you back out 👍
More to come!
The domes ,randomes, or portmanteau are just for protecting the radar antenna and are made of material that radar can get through but protecting the electronic equipment from outside view.
Aaaaw Dan i'm sorry you hurt your leg and hope it feels better very soon!! On the other hand you do make me chuckle especially when your bottom backfired 😂😂 so funny, just keep being you ❤❤
Another top video pal, amazing scenery 👌
Don't forget your drone 🤣
Nice video as usual, hope the legs OK.
I hope so too
Dan Drone!
Don’t forget your drone 🤙

Amazing video what a great place never been there a friend been there its a really fantastic place I'll have to go there it looks absolutely awesome place for camping cheers Dan for a great video 😊
Let me know when your going I will see you there
Weatherspoons not too far away too !
M
My phone did it’s own thing , been up there many times , weather can change very quickly up there from spring day to absolute pee souper , you did a fair hike , I know , wonderful to see your efforts whilst having a coffee . Never heard about any Bigfoot on ilkley moor , but watch out for rombald ! Best wishes to you and your subs.
Could the yellow posts you saw be marker posts for something like a gas pipeline ? Up here in Scotland, gas pipelines over open moorland have white posts with an orange top. It's for helicopters to follow the route of the pipeline looking for any surface damage.
keep on rocking in the free world u mean
Cheers Dan, hope, the leg gets better soon. Drone,Drone,Drone,Drone,Drone,Drone,Drone,Drone,Drone😊
Thanks 👍
Drone man made.
Gary Toungues out of it!
That was painful to watch. Sorry you got really hurt. Hope you get well soon.
The sign was 45 miles to Marsden moor Dan I used to live there I now live 23 miles from Lands end.
So I could of walk more in that direction
Drone. Animals make them shapes like fish makes a design so that is a beautiful look from above. Bugs get busy to make wonderful designs i love them all. Love ya from USA NWP, FL Barbie & Sam USA baby take care friend.
I need to remember it for next time
It can be wild up on the moor!
Drone.
Question for you. Back in the dark ages when I was young we used to sing a song about Ilkley Moor - "Where as tha bin since I saw thee, On Ilkley Moor baht tat", repeat a few times ... "That'll go and catch thee death o cold ..... Then we shall have to bury thee ...." 😂 Do people still sing it?
I've never heard it mate but thank you
UFO, Bigfoot and the English Woodsman. What a scary combination. Great video, Danny, as always 😊
“Trigger point”😂
Good video 👌
Thank you 👍
@@englishwoodsman your welcome
Drone! I really like your videos. Well done!
Mentworth hill near Harrogate i believe it is an American base and is used as an early warning base for incoming enemy aircraft etc.
Can we go there
@englishwoodsman no I don't think so mate. When I was in air cadets as a kid we had an American officer come and see us to tell us about what they do. He was saying everything is just like being in America
Nice up there any weather
I would love to go back when it's snowing
hope your leg heals soon so you can get out and about again
Great Vid Dan, it's so good that we all have the "right to roam" in England
Hi mate, nice video thanx. Hope the leg is ok and you feel better soon, Cheers 8-)
My leg is still bed today
The reason I do not use those types of cook sets , is that they are top heavy , I prefer my Trangia set , use in all weathers , and as stable as they come .🙂
Bob I can fully understand that
DRONE !!! Lol😂
Great vid Dan as always, top man.
Crop circles, my opinion is bollo***😂
Keep these coming mate, love why you're doing👍
🤣🤣
I've seen two Sasquatch in my lifetime buddy first time on army exercise 30 yrs ago second time on my way to work five years ago crossing a dual carriageway 3am ..I'm going to be doing cryptid hunting when I finally get my vehicle back on the road and doing other adventures.. knowing they exist adds a bit excitement to it but I think you'll never truly believe they exist until you see one and you'll probably freeze your first time.
Where are you from ??
@@englishwoodsman originally Yorkshire but live most of my life in Torbay now.. born in Hall Green wakey and lived in Barnsley for about ten years wandered around north and south till eventually settled in Torquay for the past 28 years. Coming up to my 52 birthday and don't feel a day older than 18 haha although my body might disagree lmao..
Where do you get your acid from?
@@andyvint8066 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Have you got your underpants on your head and two pencils stuck up your nose? WIBBLE!
Great video mate, DRONE 👍👍👍
Thanks for the visit
Reminds me of a pokeball mid catch.
Another excellent video Dan . Oh and don't forget your drone 🤣
Drone Dan don’t forget the drone! lol
Hoping the leg injury is healing ok, beautiful place to camp was just lovely. Thank you 🥰
There has been some Bigfoot related news on the South Downs, something scaring fisherman and then running up an almost vertical cliff in pitch black. Not sure I believe Bigfoot could survive in the uk but I will be going out camping near these events see if I can see or hear something. Could be a big cat like puma etc. That could be feasible in the south east.
Hello Dan , you have to be more careful when up on moors mate , if you had done real damadge to your leg , you would have been in real trouble mate !🤨
I know Bob 👍👍
Drone ! Love your channel, well done mate. Oh, and a bigfoot hunt would be great fun.
We really need to get to the big foot land
Is that plaque not an Ordnance Survey marker ?
I don't know
Tha on Ilkley moor bah tat. Tha no's tworms r gonna eyt thee up. If tha not careful 😁😁😁
Great vid mate 👍
Thanks for the visit
No one heard you break wind in the forest. Just like they say… In a forest, when a tree falls, does it make a sound? 😂
The rock writing are what's called the Stanza Stones, and are all over the place look them up
Drone, Dan. Drone.
