These videos are meant to be educational and funny, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
0:00 Intro.
0:05 Hopefully the customer will get this looked at or repaired very soon. Good chance the brake pads were metal to metal then the brake pad (what's left of it) fell out and now the caliper piston is pressing against the brake rotor and leaking brake fluid and started to smoke.
0:20 This shop is not aware of what other shop apparently did this but a new fuel tank was installed. Installing the correct fuel tank from the start would have been a lot easier...
0:32 Well the car has fuel and is not overheating so that's good!
0:44 Easy fix! The technician also had to perform some recalls so that's why it was brought into the shop.
0:56 Always follow manufacturer specifications for fasteners. The crankshaft bolt is torque to yield. It may break during torque down, or later down the road if reused.
1:07 The tire was replaced.
1:16 Broken spark plug was removed.
1:29 Fuel was added and the vehicle started and didn't have any issues/concerns with it afterwards.
1:38 Brake pads and brake rotors were replaced and it fixed the customer's concern. The transmission did not have any issues.
1:56 No issues found.
2:10 A good reason to always get a pre-purchase inspection!
2:25 Some Ford Raptor's have 35's from the factory and some have 37's so maybe that's what the customer is thinking of, otherwise the technician had a pretty good laugh about this one.
2:36 A new starter was installed and the vehicle started.
2:43 The customer just spent $3200 on the new reman. transmission from GM. The vehicle was towed away.
2:57 Both Mini-coopers in the shop had the same mileage. 96799 miles.
3:08 "A car was involved in a serious accident, leaving its body severely bent at the waist, with its front and rear tires misaligned. Despite the extensive damage, the driver remained determined to continue his journey on the road. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the man was intent on driving the vehicle to a repair shop, as the distance was not too far. In a bid to save on towing costs, he made the decision to drive the car himself, despite its compromised condition."

- Yo, my brakes are smoking!
- Want us to take a look?
- Naah, see ya!
I can only imagine that they were hoping the mechanic would take a look at it to diagnose it for free, but the mechanic said there would be a minimum fee or diagnostic charge. the fact that he just drives off tells me he was planning to get the free diagnostic, then get their mate to do the work.
@myopinion69420, I always tried to be a nice guy and help folks out, but I had to start charging a minimum. A big chunk of the reason was people who wanted a free diagnostic.
(The worst one was when I was a mobile mechanic and a guy called me with a long list (2-3 hours work) and after I drove 10 miles, he only wanted a screw in the interior trim replaced. True story.)
AIR in one line caused ONE disc brake to grab/overheat. Several shops and 2 VW dealers failed to diag problem. Makes sense NOW, but 3 wheels were OK so "spongy" was not a symptom when cool.
This is the 1st video segment.
"I just wanted to share this moment with someone"
You forgot to add"I just wanted to tell somebody"!
I wonder if the customer with the empty fuel tank was also looking for the temp gauge and was like "I still got like half left"
😅🤣😂
How do you think the car overheats with those too gauges? Did he think they were both the same gauge?
😂😂😂
Or perhaps the customer looks at the RPM gauge and thinks his vehicle has very effective acceleration and braking.
@@kingnull2697I used to know someone who regularly confused the heat gauge with the fuel gauge.
I’m fairly certain that MiniRaptor guy has an IQ to match😂
He has something else to match too.

2:43- At least the guy was honest and said he did it himself; not claiming that some other shop did it like most idiots. Bonus points for honesty!
Not like the guy who replaced his fuel-tank trying to increase the capacity!
I know repair shops where they do much worse.
💯 Forgetting to flush the transmission cooler and lines sounds like something easy to overlook. Especially if he was doing this in his driveway on jack stands in the middle of winter
@@christians131 maybe, but replacing the transmission is a pretty damn important project and should probably be done with the help of a checklist.
why oh why would a person stop have a problem checked, be told what the problem was and that it is unsafe to drive, and then refuse repair and drive away???? I just don't get it! sheesh!
No money.
@raftonpounder6696 ok but then why even stop?? is the mechanic expected to check/fix it for free?? just asking.
Same reason people bring in cars saying that they won't start, because it's out of gas. They're both stupid.
Yeah people are very stupid sometimes

For all the crap one has to go trough as a mechanic, imagine working customer support and having to remain serious when someone asks you if he has a mini Raptor.
The shot of the work order sums it up in the lower left: "Pay Meth". 🤣
I work customer service for a repair shop. Yes, it's as bad as you think.
I became a mechanic because it's much easier to repair a car than a customer.
Sir the other raptors are not taller. You're just fat and turned your car into a low rider. 😮😂
I noticed on that service ticket that it said "Pay Meth". Seems accurate.

How hard up do you have to be to go through the effort of stealing a starter? I know they can be pricey, but just wow.
Also the woman heading off to buy a frame repair kit is another headscratcher.
Starter windings are pure copper, so potentially attractive to metal scrapper thieves. Still seems like a lot of work though.

There's 3 people you should never lie to - your doctor, your lawyer, and your mechanic.
Though you might want to try "selective editing" with a lawyer. If you don't tell them something, even if it's as obvious as the sun rising in the east, they aren't necessarily required to admit it in court.
I like the videos where you show something nice at the end… helps me avoid PTSD from all the 2024 spray foam😂

Nothing wrong with a field expedient repair. As long as it’s to get you to the proper mechanic.
lol. It’s like applying a tourniquet to a gunshot then just going about your daily life like, “what, I fixed it”

Those harmonic balancer bolts are (often) single use, customer.
And that is the reason why I only do simple brake jobs and oil changes on my car
Many harmonic balancers used to have a key to keep the balancer from rotating on the crankshaft. Of course, you still have to tighten (or replace and tighten) the bolt to the proper torque.
@@Mikeydude001 "I ain't puttin' no Canadian hat on my bolts!"

That's because when reused, they'll shear off before you reach the recommended torque!
There are very few things more frustrating than spending a couple of days drilling out the centre of a broken bolt in the end of your crankshaft!
