    Thank you for pointing out the extra step needed in 5.4!

    oh, you are the first person who told how I can appear displacement in material node. thank you!

    I would add that I had to go into SM_Plane and enable nanite support (checkbox) in order for this to work for me. Was driving me mad for a while. Running 5.4.1. Thanks for the tutorial :)

      Thanks man! FYI theironpixel means is to edit the static mesh (SM_...) itself. As in, select your plane, then edit the Static Mesh of it.
      They say this in the video too, but, if you're like me, you forgot and spend an hour or two trying to figure out if a dozen unrelated settings were the culprit...

    But how did they do that landscape/static mesh in the presentation with those multiple layers or something?

  • @MarioCola

    I use an automaterial on my landscape hence i have more layers and textures, how should i connect the displacement pin in the master material?

    Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I'll give this a try with 5.4. It would be super helpful to use displacement without using the modeling tool for sure.

    It's all great with displacement, but nobody says how to apply it to existing material. Will there be a video on this at some point?

    • @owenb6499
      @owenb6499 Před 4 měsíci

      should be able to follow the same steps, you can add some extra stuff like a multiplier and a switch option if youd like to.

    is there a node to control the strength of displacement?

  • @phantom4dive
    @phantom4dive Před 4 měsíci +1

    doesn't seem to work for me for some reason. I edited the .ini, downloaded the same texture files, connected the nodes, enabled tessellation on the mesh, but when i put it on a mesh, it just goes invisible..

    • @UnrealUniversity
      @UnrealUniversity  Před 4 měsíci

      Did you enable nanite on the mesh at 4:12 in the video

    • @phantom4dive
      @phantom4dive Před 4 měsíci

      @@UnrealUniversity yeap. I clicked on the magnifying glass on the object to directly go to it and double click and tick nanite.
      Just realized i wrote my previous comment wrong as i meant to say i enabled nanite, not tessellation (though i did that too). I also tried it in version 5.4 and it's the same. the mesh just goes invis after i applied it, and it was a fresh new install and fresh new project (after editing the .ini).

    @CommanderColson Před 4 měsíci +2

    Wait so the mesh itself does not need any additional triangles? It is all done by the material? You used just the default plane which is only like 2 triangles right?
