That was similar to my thought. Wanting to keep things the same for the children, but also for himself as he would miss his parents too. Perhaps selling items singularly only as needed over time. A child might not question a single item disappearing every few months rather than the place being denuded right away.
When I have a teenager in the house, I try to keep them in after school activities to help passively raise their desired skills, but usually this leaves the only feasible part time job to be burial specialist because the shift starts after the after school activity. With his mastery of writing, he may have been trying to keep his family going with a part time job but was unwilling to lose his involvement in the newspaper club on top of everything else. It's hard to lose your parents, what's left of your childhood, and your passions all at once, maybe he just started working at the graveyard and hasn't found something new yet because he's slid into the droning, repetitive, monotony that comes as part of the package when your brain goes into survival mode after trauma.
Could possibly play on him writing good obituaries that he could have picked up with his unorthodox career choice, or alternatively gotten that job after he wrote his parents' obituaries
YESSSSS ITS MY FAVORITE PREMADE FAMILY!!! Personally, I head cannon that Chantrelle and Calvin are prodigies, and have no idea how talented they are until they start using those talents. I also headcannon the family as being normal farmers, where Calvin sold land after their parents died so he could afford to raise his siblings.
I like to interpret the hidden story of this household as something tragic rather than sinister. I think Calvin’s trait and starting workplace indicate his fear of letting go and accepting the fact his parents are no more. Since he is the eldest, he obviously spent more time with his them than his siblings, so for Calvin the pain of losing his parents is much greater, not to mention he had to mature early and take care of the kids. If we assume the paintings in the house were created by the siblings’ mother and they cost a lot yet they aren’t sold, it could simply add to what I said above - could Calvin afford to loose the reminders of what was? I think the game softly nudges you to help Calvin accept the loss and how life turned out - bury the parents, sell the reminders and follow his more artistic path. To move on.
I interpret it as a tragic story also. Working at the cemetery to help understand and come to terms with mortality. Maybe also to overcome his cowardice. Keeping the parents' room the same and leaving their urns inside because he just can't let go yet. You know, along those lines.

what I think happened to the riffin parents is that the abandoned crop farm next to their house may have been used as a crop farm for the riffins and maybe it caught on fire while the parents were tending to their garden and that's how they may have died. This would also explain why it is currently empty and why it looks like the grass has been disturbed.
The frog painting is in the art style of The Sims Medieval. Might be fun to research if it’s used in connection with some quest in the game and if that might shed more light on the situation.

Not sure how much you know about Sims Medieval, but the paper and ink paintings like the frog are screencaps from stories. There were several introduced wirh Pets and Supernatural. The frog is from a typical frog prince drama.
Perhaps the frog painting is a hint that Cornell also has a hidden talent that isn't apparent? He appears to be a frog, but he's really a prince deep down?
The chairs could be this old school decor trick of extra chairs for guests yet pulled away from the table to avoid awkward empty chairs at the table. Old school decor says it needs to match the others for the beauty of aesthetics.

Maybe the frog panting was made by their mother as she took intrest in arts as well? So it has a emotional value to them. Maybe, because it was some sort of gift to one of the kids?

I have questions 1. Being rebellious wouldn't prevent you from developing skills so why does the middle son have no skill but the little sister has a master painting skill with no easel. 2. Why does the sister have the laptop when the oldest is the one with the max skill? Did he give her the laptop to jumpstart her skill or did she always have it? 3. Do they have skill books to explain why he has max writing even though his sister has the laptop and why she has master painting with no easel?

He could have worked at every part time job in town. Then consider his job level and how easy it is to advance in a part time job he must be new there.

However, I unraveled another mystery about the parents that is quite perplexing. The fandom wiki states that both parents had red hair, and red skin, yet none of the children have them. Both of their lifetime wishes were to be "Surrounded by Family." One of their urns (being a basic one), reflects that one of them did not reach that wish (which would be in line with the current family dynamic), however the other urn paints a different picture (unless I am confusing urns after death?). Perhaps, I am reading into aspects, could the parents have been created hinting towards a lifestate the devs were planning to implement later? Perhaps a lifestate they did incorporate, but the red/red confuses me, Fairies...Werewolves...TS1's dancing Flamingos? Are the children adopted? So many more questions, I have to find answers to...lol 😂

Did the Sims 3 Wiki really state that the parents had red hair and red skin or did it state that all ghosts in Appaloosa Plains are red? For pets, a red ghost means they died unhappy, and a white ghost means they were happy and well-loved. I'm wondering if this simply means that all the human ghosts at the beginning of the game have some tragic story behind them. I noticed the difference in the parents' urns too. And as you said, both had the same lifetime wish. I think the "surrounded by family" means that 5 children were raised to teen age. This implies that one of the parents may have been married before and produced offspring with another spouse before remarrying. Sims Wiki says the father is buggy and can't be resurrected, but the mother can - interesting! Is it the mother who hasn't reached the lifetime wish? Could she be resurrected, remarry, and have two more kids to reach her lifetime wish? If you are right and the kids are adopted, I would suspect that the Millers are the real parents based on their interest in caring for the kids and the fact that they both appear to be African-American families and therefore have similar genetics.
@@judialbert1349 I did not know that all ghosts in Appaloosa Plains had different colors, but why does their description use those colors, when that is supposed to describe their appearance when alive? I haven't played the family yet, nor have I played in Appaloosa Plains. I am working on a personality comparison project right now, TS2 vs. TS3, but am not at the playtesting stage yet. When I do go in, I can try to unravel some of the mysteries better. If you discover any other aspects, I'd love to learn more about any/all mysteries❣

I do think the world is beautiful, but I think I hesitate to play there because of how laggy the world is, being filled with Pets. Hopefully, I will have the time to be able to playtest soon, because I feel I am missing out of the Lore Appaloosa Plains offers. To be fair, while the wiki is the first place I go to for quick, brief descriptions, you do find so much more in-depth from videos like these, as well as community and reddit posts. Sul sul❣

Personally, I think what is being suggested with the set up is even creepier than this. I think the oldest brother has an obsession with death and perhaps had a hand in his parents passing. Notice how dad’s urn is on the floor, as if there was a grudge against him while mom’s is on the dresser. The door is locked because the ghosts of his parents haunt them now.

I remember befriending the boy once on a sim Child I made for a new play through. She ended up best friends with him before I stopped playing and I remember going to their home and liking the cute garden, but I never looked in the house. I just had been wondering where his parents were and never looked into it. Now I feel even sadder for that kid.
bit farfetched and probably not true but my first interpretation was along the lines that calvin realised hes shaman and has connection to spirit world after their parents deaths, the crazy high skills they all had is maybe from a spiritual download of spirit rituals calvin learned to perform after he learned what he can do, that would also explain the graveyard job since there he would have access to all kind of spirits to work with / talk to, its challenging for him cuz hes coward but i think shamans are commonly more sensitive, now that im writing it sounds insane but it would be an interesting story
What If the Miller family accidentally hit the parents with a car or something like that. Since their ghosts indicates being crushed. And that could also explain their reactions

the kids summoned a demon, got what they wished for, but as payment the demon got their parents' souls. the kids feel too guilty and sad to use the skills and the expensive things they got.
The older brother is like Rumplestiltskin from Once Upon A Time (in my opinion).....coward by day, Dark One by night.....he murdered his family, and that's why he works as a mausoleum clerk. Again, just an opinion. Will you ever pick the Bridgeport LetsPlay back up?

I've owned every pack forever. I've still never played there. Lol. The description makes it sound boring. That's part of why I watch these videos. She makes the towns sound so much better than the descriptions.
Did the Sims 3 Wiki really state that the parents had red hair and red skin or did it state that all ghosts in Appaloosa Plains are red? For pets, a red ghost means they died unhappy, and a white ghost means they were happy and well-loved. I'm wondering if this simply means that all the human ghosts at the beginning of the game have some tragic story behind them. I noticed the difference in the parents' urns too. And as you said, both had the same lifetime wish. I think the "surrounded by family" means that 5 children were raised to teen age. This implies that one of the parents may have been married before and produced offspring with another spouse before remarrying. Sims Wiki says the father is buggy and can't be resurrected, but the mother can - interesting! Is it the mother who hasn't reached the lifetime wish? Could she be resurrected, remarry, and have two more kids to reach her lifetime wish? If you are right and the kids are adopted, I would suspect that the Millers are the real parents based on their interest in caring for the kids and the fact that they both appear to be African-American families and therefore have similar genetics.
@@judialbert1349 I did not know that all ghosts in Appaloosa Plains had different colors, but why does their description use those colors, when that is supposed to describe their appearance when alive?
I haven't played the family yet, nor have I played in Appaloosa Plains. I am working on a personality comparison project right now, TS2 vs. TS3, but am not at the playtesting stage yet. When I do go in, I can try to unravel some of the mysteries better. If you discover any other aspects, I'd love to learn more about any/all mysteries❣
@@nikkichekaway7162 I agree 💯❣ Ironically, I hadn't even looked at any of Appaloosa Plains' descriptions, until this video. I do think the world is beautiful, but I think I hesitate to play there because of how laggy the world is, being filled with Pets. Hopefully, I will have the time to be able to playtest soon, because I feel I am missing out of the Lore Appaloosa Plains offers.
To be fair, while the wiki is the first place I go to for quick, brief descriptions, you do find so much more in-depth from videos like these, as well as community and reddit posts. Sul sul❣
@@TheMya1988 Oh, I see where you are getting the appearance info now. It is strange that they are describing the ghostly appearance rather than their real-life appearance. I also noticed it claims that the dad can be resurrected as well. I wonder what they would look like resurrected.

Personally, I think what is being suggested with the set up is even creepier than this. I think the oldest brother has an obsession with death and perhaps had a hand in his parents passing. Notice how dad’s urn is on the floor, as if there was a grudge against him while mom’s is on the dresser. The door is locked because the ghosts of his parents haunt them now.
That obsession explains a lot. He took a job as burial specialist to get their urns back from the graveyard and bring them back home instead.

I remember befriending the boy once on a sim Child I made for a new play through. She ended up best friends with him before I stopped playing and I remember going to their home and liking the cute garden, but I never looked in the house. I just had been wondering where his parents were and never looked into it. Now I feel even sadder for that kid.

bit farfetched and probably not true but my first interpretation was along the lines that calvin realised hes shaman and has connection to spirit world after their parents deaths, the crazy high skills they all had is maybe from a spiritual download of spirit rituals calvin learned to perform after he learned what he can do, that would also explain the graveyard job since there he would have access to all kind of spirits to work with / talk to, its challenging for him cuz hes coward but i think shamans are commonly more sensitive, now that im writing it sounds insane but it would be an interesting story
as a kid i’d always had my sims marry calvin and i never blinked an eye on how weird his career choice is!!
