I’ve played with Linda once and she adopted more kids, one ended up being a vampire and the other was a witch, it was kinda funny having this human lady raise a bunch of different supernaturals.
I did that on purpose and made their house look like a boarding school.
I had a witch, werewolf, fairy, vampire and ghost.
You just gave me an idea for my next saved game.

Well, a fairy may think of it as a funny prank since (in literature and legend) they live for a very long time. They may be like a 12 year old who don't understand why you ain't also laughing when they beat you up
It was easier to make adoption mishap work since if it was adoption they could connect the fairy child to the human mother in the family tree and vice versa. If they did the kidnapping thing the autonomy system could mess up when you play since the real mom would come over to interact with her kid.
I guess that's what Dr. Synapse and Sarah Holden are for in Midnight Hollow
idk, there's some pretty dark stuff already present in this game (see also: James Hoppcraft being sent to law school at 8 by his mother, who even does that??). I think in this case, it genuinely wasn't anything malicious, even if it's a clear reference to the changeling myth. There's no indicator anywhere (as far as I know) that Fawn is Linda's biological child, and also she's single anyway, so...

This channel is a goldmine. Sims 3 premades don't get enough love (I mean there are so many per world so it's understandable), so it's great to see a channel dedicated to them.

It's likely Sophie is supposed to be the Goodfellow's biological daughter. She resembles them when she's older and it does line up with the legends of changelings.
The fairies of legend are often described as stunningly beautiful, yet completely lacking the morals found in humans. They make for notoriously unfit parents, and rely on humans to take care of their children (while they "take care of" the human kid). Eventually, the changeling will (after years of tormenting their human family for their own amusement) leave and return to the fairies. The human kid usually never returns - and likely fell victim to the fairies' general neglect, disregard for human life, or just plain up killing them ("tithe to hell" sacrifice (ex: Tam Lin) or because they eat them). This isn't always the case, however, as "fairy" refers to a wide variety of folkloric creatures (many of whom don't have wings) from all over Europe, and aren't always (though are usually) depicted as harmful.

I always let my same sex couples travel into the future, because there they actually can have a biological child together thanks to the hospital which I find beautiful. I always hope this will one day also be possible in real life, so that my boyfriend and I could have biological children together. It really is beautiful when people have two fathers or two mothers!

My theory is that Linda simply isn't able to accept that Sophie isn't human. She's friends with the supernatural skeptics the Hoppcrafts, who refuse to acknowledge that their own son is a fairy. Maybe they convinced her that she's just seeing things!
My other theory is that toddler fairies didn't originally have wings and that the developers didn't remember to change the bios when they were implemented.
After reading the Maldano bio, it looks like fairies have invisible wings and just the player can see them.
@@arieltales8952 Since fairy wings in this game clearly aren't physical in nature (they phase through objects), it would make more sense that only certain people could actually see them. I'm guessing this would mean that humans wouldn't be able to see fairy wings, at the very least.
Hmm. Are we not talking about this sentence at 5:13 😳 ? "Though Flora has some guilt in accidently turning the Hoppcraft toddler into a fairy..." Hoppcraft... The family name of Linda and the changelling is Rogers... I mean... I think there's more here... And there's a Hoppcraft family. We really need to look at them next 😳

I’m convinced that Linda’s clothes were randomly generated and they didn’t even consider giving her sensible clothes to wear. Her formal outfit is ATROCIOUS
In defense of the fairies (that's something I don't say everyday!), it's not QUITE as bad as it seems. The Changeling thing revolves (I believe) around swapping out BIOLOGICAL children for fae folk. If the babies never met tho other parent(s), no (provable) harm, therefore no foul. I think it would, IRL, be more harmful to switch them back.
If they stole the baby from the hospital after Linda had her, I feel that's a whole other story.
In my game, Linda not only raises Sophie, but after having her heart changed by her beautiful little fairy, she simply cannot stand to see another family suffering. So, when Miriam Hoppcraft become pregnant again, Linda adopts the Hoppcrafts fairy son Alfred and raises him alongside Sophie as her own.
Now that she has two supernatural toddlers, she is made aware of the lack of child care options in her town. Because of this, she leaves her job in the kitchen and opens up her own daycare, this way she can stay home with her children and her children can make friends quickly.
Linda is considering adopting again, but is not sure if she is qualified to raise any more children. Will she decide to adopt again, or will she simply leave things be?
The changeling legends are so sad to think about at length. Parents who can’t accept that their child is different or has problems, so badly that they convince themselves they aren’t human, to justify mistreating or abandoning them.
I love how their last name is a reference to the euphemisms used to refer to fairies/fae-stuff like “the good people” and “the good neighbors,” bc according to superstition you had to avoid offending them!

This is not the only time Flora did something wrong with babies. She also turned the Hoppcrafts' son into a fairy. And unlike Linda, Hoppcrafts hate anything supernatural, so, it's bound to cause trouble in their family (and it ooften did in my gameplay).
But anyway, I often got supernatural kid for my human Sim or human or different supernatural than they are for my supernatural Sims in Sims 3 through adoption, so, it's not like the Sims world adoption agency really cares about these little details anyway LOL
Is Sophie supposed to be the biological daughter of Pip and Dahlia? Or was there an orphan fairy toddler available? The latter doesn't seem like much of a prank TBH - two kids that needed loving homes got them, just not the way that the agency might have intended.

I did the supernatural baby challenge in the sims 3 (have baby with every occult be that occult) and Pip was the fairy dad, The werewolf kid ended up marrying Sophia after she broke up her half brother and Sophia's relationship. This family tree went wack
Personally, I'm more curious how Sophie will take having been left with a random human as a prank when she's older. It's not like she didn't have family and ended up adopted by a human because there was no one to take care of her. Her family just gave her up because they wanted a human kid more and they thought the whole thing would be funny.

I kinda assumed that the creators intended that the wings “grow in” instead of fairy babies being born with them, and the characters having wings as babies is for the player, or an oversight by the devs/it was easier to leave it in for all fairies.

Im pissed, the sapnish translation of the goodfellows description just says that they adopte a child and that the fairy lineage has come to an end cause they dont have a fairy child
It’s worth noting for anyone interested in writing about changelings that a lot of times suspected changelings were children with disabilities and birth defects who, as a result of being thought to be changelings (or with that used as an excuse) were on many occasions tragically killed, so it’s something you should be sensitive about
Changling lore is way darker. It could be an adult fairy pretending to be the child or a baby fairy. But either way either the human child is lost forever, die, or tossed away once they begin to grow. The whole story of changlings was a way to cope with loosing children most likely. If anyone actually wants to read the lore a simple goggle search comes up with great stuff. I never paid much attention to the lore in Sims 3. I missed out on a lot.
I made the two children friends and at the high school ball they became romantic interests and I carried on to make them a couple :D

In my game Pip just has babies everywhere, he ended up with 6 other kids in one of my games 😂😂
Personally, I always had a headcanon that the fairy Sophie Rodgers is the biological child of fairies Marigold Maldano and Branch Timbley; Flora Goodfellow took little Sophie in because Marigold is kind of crazy (she has the insane trait) and was ill-suited to be a mother, and Branch doesn't know that he has a child.
At around the same time, Linda Rodgers had given birth to her daughter and Flora exchanged her human/sim daughter with Marigold's daughter, who Linda named Sophie, because she thought that was her daughter. The Goodfellows would name Linda's biological daughter Fawn.
(I guess I chose Branch Timbley with Marigold Maldano because they're both fairies, and Sophie Rodgers kind of looks like both of them!)

As someone who spent years attending classes about fairies (among other things), it's my first time hearing it's exclusive to Ireland or that these are the exact reasons they swap fairies with children.
Well, I'm happy to finally see the Goodfellow family! I always end up being a good friend of theirs and attend their parties!
I guess the fairies as we often see in media are based off the Irish fae, specifically; but other cultures around Europe do have similar myths, albeit usually with different names.
Like, on Portugal (and here in Brazil, because they brought it here), there's the "encantados", which are magic folk (though, they can vary a lot, since some people classify some other mythical creatures as them, such as the Boto, and some don't; it's complicated); one kind of them that I remember are the gnomes, for example. They live in little houses, love gifts such as flowers, fruit, milk, sugar and pastries, and can be helpful if you're nice to them, or cause all sorts of mischief if you anger them; and are usually invisible, you can only see them if they want you to see them.

I loved playing with Sophie and Linda. Linda wound up falling in love and marrying middle witch sister Belinda Crumplebottom. I’d originally planned on matching Belinda with a male fairy or witch similar to her ‘charmed’ counterpart’s husband Leo, but Linda and Belinda wound up being so cute! Belinda adored Sophie, too

Nothing unusual for me, I always used to steal people's pets and babies in the Sims. Why? Cause I was 8 and a weirdo.
I did this a few times through cheats. At one time, I actually "adopted" the newspaper delivery boy. But that was a good thig, wasn't it? That poor boy had to make money delivering newspapers, so I saved him that fate and made him be a child again LOL
Another time, I actually took Alfred Hoppcraft to my family. I actually made it in my head that his parents eventually disowned him for being fairy, so, my family took him in and offered him the loving and caring environment. But honestly, even if I don't intervene, Alfred often ends up leaving his family the first time he could, which is quite sad.
Me too! I used to make friends with the parents and then ask them to move in but only take the children and call it a “orphanage” even though their parents were still alive (and I’m sure if I knew how then they wouldn’t have been)
Oh yeah, swapping your biological granddaughter with a human child is an amazing prank! And the parents are okay with that? Wow, everyone, Pip and Dahlia deserve a prize!

I always thought it was weird. Because a toddler my sim was watching as a daycare gig. One of the toddlers were a fairy. And the person who picked it up was a human. Then there was a fairy who picked up a human toddler. I was so confused.

When my sim was gossiping they said "some say pip goodfellow has a dark secret"
The first time I played with these households, I saw that Fawn’s Libra star sign and Sophie’s Aquarius star sign were compatible and my mind was made up. In elementary school, Fawn met Sophie and they became friends, as they grew, so too did their friendship.
Eventually, when they’re both teens, I have them share a kiss under a full moon and end up together. Linda gets another daughter, and the Goodfellow family get to see how their “prank” worked out for Sophie.
The goodfellow house is really cool and cozy. You read Linda to filth in this video. What did she do to you to receive this treatment 😂

I used to play with the Goodfellows all the time.
I didn't have much imagination playing with these families. In one save, I've swapped the babies again. In other save, I've turned the human toddler in a fairy and viceversa using potions of a witch Sim I had created. Also, I've made they fight with the pranks when they aged up.
That sounds like a lot of fun!!

Fun fact! The changeling story was how people pre modern medicine explained neurodivergent children. I mean... Acting weirdly? Wise beyond their years? Sounds pretty close to some modern diagnoses...

That's evil as hell! For a good while I imagined them to be biological and They had no regards for their own Kin. I was filled with Absolute mortification when I learned about them.
Since they are adopted, I like to imagine Fawn and Sophie do a little "parent trap" in a way and become besties in grade school, or maybe even rivalry.
Usually when Sophie becomes an adult and Linda is much older I try to change her into a fairy a "barbie-fairytale-esque ending." Linda is to much of a sweetie for what those Goodfellows did to her :( This also implies that those two capable adults. willingly gave their fairy-daughter up, like it was a baby consignment store, as a MEME Honestly.

I know this is old but wanted to add, nrass does do this too. Not sure what it came in, (I have all the nrass mods) but if you have supernatauls in your town your human babies can be switched. I had it happen once with my sims sisters kid.
