My 2018 Mustang GT 10 speed has been overall really great. Today I talk about what it's been like to daily drive a 750WHP Mustang GT using the VMP Odin supercharger kit thanks to the guys over at National Speed! I also answer all the questions you guys all had once the process was completed, and once I got some real life seat time in the car. So let's go for a drive.

@ThatDudeinBlue have you driven a modified (to any length) current gen hatchback Corolla yet? I have a 2022 XSE 6MT with a very short list of modifications that currently include, and will eventually expand from, custom one-off center-exit cat-back exhaust, Titan Motorsports 25mm wheel spacers in the back, rear valance delete (aesthetics), and Riken Raptor directionals sized at 245/45/18 at all four corners. I have several other modifications planned, but it's all being pieces together in stages because I don't have the money to do it all at once lol
I'm all the way in California so we'd have to figure something out for you to drive my car, but I would be honored to be chosen for your review of a modified XSE Corolla hatchback, even if I have to do more before anything can happen.

    • @HAPPYFUNTIMEx2

It is, but the GT500 is a different beast. GT500 does just shy of 1000whp with bolt ons and e85. For a 77k base model (There is one at my local dealership for this price, special ordered buyer backed out probably, as far as I know to get a base they have to be special ordered, but it can be done.) with a warranty its a fuckin deal imo. A mustang GT base costs around 30k. Plus the Odin kit with pro install 12k ish. Brakes, Suspension etc. Looking around 50k-55k for no "real" warranty. Is 20k worth a warranty the 5.2 liter engine and an extra 200hp over a supercharged 5.0 who knows? Now premium to premium. The GT is definetly better bang for your buck. Optioned out the GT500 is hitting 130k. Nuts.

I went down the rabbit hole too with my daily like that. when I supercharged my little 03 Tacoma, I had so many problems to solve in the first year. which was funny because everyone said you could put the kit on and nothing needed upgraded. first was I ran out of fuel and needed a bigger fuel pump then my clutch didn't even make it 3'000 miles before it started pushing through it and i could only drive normally with no boost and had to go to an upgraded 6 puck clutch. It also killed the knock sensors , the cam position sensor/ tps sensor, and all the extra fuel got the cat redhot and killed it as well. I even had to put a bigger radiator and engine oil cooler in it.

I wasnt't happy with that . I had all the problems because I dropped down to a 2" pulley to make over14 psi of boost and triple the power and added the URD 7th injector piggyback kit and JBA/Doug Thorley headers.. the shitty thing about the mp62 setup is that its non intercooled and creates a ton of extra heat over driving it and It burned the rotorpack bearings up after a year, but I also had a warranty on the supercharger and summit racing sent me a new one. Theres no warranty on the trucks parts though. I'm pushing that little 180hp motor up around 400hp so all the weaker parts and cooling problems from the extra heat started to show. And it's not overdone, it's very tasteful - projects a powerful confidence, without all the ridiculous, over-the-top and unnecessary esthetics, like the power dome hood or ricer wing, which would actually detract from its appeal.

But then, you get used to everything and then always want more! Having had nine Mustangs in my life, I understand the addiction. I grew up in the hay day of the muscle car resurgence (the old 225hp foxbody days) - and I had a Paxton supercharged notch back that probably had 325 horsepower, and that thing was a stupid handful, but a lot of fun. Probably a 13 second car. To think that the new Mustang 5.0 with a blower more than doubles that is pretty amazing. I supercharged my Daily driver as well. I started my own construction business and spend so much time working I rarely get to do all my other hobbies. mx/ bmx/snowboarding/wakeskating.... The one cool thing is I work in the mountains and do a lot of mountain driving commuting to jobs, So that's why I supercharged my Daily. I'm in my mid 30's now and I've never owned an automatic in my life. That being said: I love my manual transmission in my Magnuson supercharged 03 Tacoma with its little reliable 3.4 v6 5vzfe. my trucks nothing special its 300whp 310tq around 400 crank (stock 180 crank hp) The truck it is so fun to drive on The Sierra Nevada mountain roads where I live, and to me manuals give so much more control in turns than an auto trans. The only Frustrating part about the truck is that it is also a Manual... It should be able to do mid 13 second quarter miles like its automatic brethren with the same exact motor/supercharger gearing setup that I have seen on Tacoma worlds Forum. but I'm stuck in the mid to high14s because its a Manual that was made to be reliable and offroad, not race. so It is so hard to shift under load. I am like boosted boi kyle missing 3rd or get the dreaded money shift :( but 1 out of 10 tries everything lines up perfect and it shifts smooth and feels so amazing! and it gets so close to that 13... I know its not fast but I think thats also what makes it so Enjoyable. I can drive that truck to its limits railing corners and squeeze everything out of it the truck has to give, and the truck takes it... Its at 276k miles and still ripping.

Put it in S on the shifter use the paddles to put it in 2nd gear, turn advance track off, and pin the throttle and instantly slap it in drive, thats the fastest way to do a 40 roll, in Sport you have a shift delay which can cause pre mature wear and tear on the clutches, keep it in drive for those smooth shifts, those shift delays in S are just harders shifts that take more time even though it doesn’t seem like it

I have a 2020 GT CA Special that is in the same place as you were before the blower. I love the thing, I wen with a Lund tune and in S+ and Track/Drag mode the thing pulls. It's not going to walk on anything that's got forced induction, but for a daily is a blast. I want to get a procharger ASAP but saving the $$ is taking a min. The issue I find with the 10 speed in manual mode is, if you are used to a 5-6 speed, its tough to know what gear you should be in at which speed, and how many to down shift when you want to nail it, it even takes the computer a sec to figure out which gear to be in when you nail it.

I turbo'd my 370z and like you said it's pretty much the same car until you hoon it. I will say I thought about supercharging it, but ultimately figured paying more for a turbo setup would be better. Stock block making 640/540 on pump. I will say with the turbos, I get better gas mileage (+3/4 mpg) on the highway if anyone was thinking about. turbo vs. sc. Obviously you. can watch the dollars go down by the minute when you're on it. The only thing is with larger injector duty stock mileage gauge thinks im getting 8 miles to the gallon.

My engine is setup to be a fast street car. If we wanted to run over 50psi we could but I'd want to open up the ring gap and I'd probably go with a different style of head gasket too.
