Leaving us with the current Supreme Kai, who was basically just a student, who now had a massive responsibility thrown on him. So yeah.. Beerus is fairly vulnerable due to this honestly.

It's more along that they didn't know that Freeza, by some bullshit ass pull of a coincidence, would find a hyperbolic time chamber on a random planet that he'd just so happen to conquer, let alone spend a whole decade in there to get as strong as he did to be able to one shot Goku and Vegeta in their strongest states. Which in total is a very poorly written scenario that you'd find in a garbage fanfic.

Honestly it makes sense that there would be more Rooms of Spirit & Time scattered across the universe. If Freeza was just conquering more planets, he was bound to find something that could prove useful to him.

The problem of why it's a very poorly written scenario is that it was ALL OFF SCREEN, no build up, no foreshadowing beyond "Freeza can get stronger", just Freeza appearing out of nowhere and dropping all of this then knocks Goku and Vegeta out in one hit. It would've made a bigger impact and a very better scene if they actually showed segments with Freeza with him actually finding the Time Chamber he used and at least hint of him training and getting stronger again, and then instead of knocking out Goku and Vegeta in their STRONGEST FORMS in one hit, have them at least TRY to fight Freeza and struggle badly before going down rather than make then look absolutely pathetic, as well as instead of his new form being a recolor to replace Golden Freeza which is visually a much better form, that they'd take a page from Cooler and give Freeza the super evolution his brother has to become more fierce, menacing and intimidating, then combine it with a stronger version of his Golden form to reach further heights than simply using a black version of his Golden form.

Notice how at the start Beerus was with Bulla in the garden and at the end they are on the beach. Beerus not only took care of Bulla, he also brought her baby chair, teddy bear, some other toys and her pacifier. Best god of destruction babysitter in the multiverse
