This video made me think. Imagine if Vegeta did train Trunks directly during the 7 year time skip, lets say Trunks wasn't able to provide a real good spar till year 5 or 6 of the time skip, with that hybrid potential I don't see why he wouldn't be able to turn super saiyan 2 and be stronger than Cell games Gohan. Especially sparing under heavy Gravity such as 150 times unlike the 10 times of the time chamber, sparing with trunks during the final year before the buu saga I imagine vegeta would be much stronger. Trunks could even improve Vegetas training by sparing with Trunks in base while Trunks uses Super Saiyan while he's catching up to his farther. A missed opportunity to grow stronger like Goku and Gohan did with less than 1 year in the time chamber. It could make for a good what if Video.
To be fair, he didn't really have a role model to follow. His father was the same way with him as he was with Trunks. Plus he actually grew up in Saiyan culture which is most definitely different from human culture. He came around, it just took some emotional growth to do it.
I would argue it's even worse. Vegeta was like, 5 when his homeworld was destroyed. He hardly grew up in Saiyan culture (which is shown to still have somewhat friendly people, at least). Instead, he grew up under the tutelage of veterans among a millitary force full of treacherous back stabbers, ready to do anything to climb up the ranks and win Frieza's favors. That he managed to turn around on that is honestly impressive.
@leirbag1595yeah that’s all he knows. It’s like teaching a tiger to eat vegetables all it’s life and it loses its purpose of what it means to be an animal

Now use this same logic for goku, because people keep forgetting this key point and the main fact that most of Gohan’s childhood GOKU WAS DEAD. That why the whole notion of Piccolo being his father really just aggravates me
I find it hilarious people will make all these excuses for Vegeta, but when it’s Goku he’s solely responsible for every mistake he may have made it’s weird.

Its hard to say whether or not he was trying to improve when he couldn't have understood why he was hurting Trunks. At some point he realised he was failing as a father and chose to improve. But when Bulla was born, he had lived a "human" life even longer. He had even known some peaceful years at this point and Goku was alive, so he had his drive to train himself. But his daughter didn't need to train, so he took what he learned from his lack of being a father to trunks and just let her live like an earthling. So all those factors together are why I think he was different with her
Vegeta grew up with piss poor parentage himself, that's not necessarily an excuse, but it is a template for where his bad habits amd actions stem from. I really gotta give credit to Bulma. Most of the male characters in the show had either non-existent, awkward, or poor barometers for fatherhood. Grandpa Gohan lived a reclusive lifestyle with Goku, so all Goku knew was to live off the land and train to fight; getting trampled by Oozaru Goku didn't help things either since he was killed. I have to imagine Yamcha's prior life as a bandit stemmed from a rough upbringing. Tien trained to be an assassin most of his life. Piccolo was the spawn of pure evil (but he turned around relatively quick). About the only one of them them that had any measure for family was probably Krillin; the monks he lived with probably had a familial way about them.
well tbh he is a saiyan and the prince aswell, sayains don't really care for their family, for example when Raditz was abt to kill goku, or vegeta not caring at all where his other brother is located - its just a sayain thing but vegeta did really become more of an earthling and changed some areas of his perpective towards family.

He's learning and improving. Considering his past and all the role models he's had in life, sure he starts off bad. However, he's moving toward bettering himself. As he does so, he becomes less and less of a Prince and more of a King.
I'll never forget watching 'Vegeta's Respect' for the first time and Vegeta said "At first I thought it was your loved ones. That it was your instinct to protect you that spurred you on! But then I found myself with a family of my own and my power didn't increase at all..." Bro literally said, "Kakarot surpassed me (AGAIN) but now he's dead...even his half breed son surpassed me...I gotta get my s&*t together; let me wife up this earth woman and look after our kid because maybe that'll get me the boost I need to be in the number one spot..." Didn't matter since he threw all of that family nonsense out of the window by letting Babidi control him to go back to how he was before settling down because he felt it was making him soft.
It's important to note that saiyan kids are quite independent and capable of taking care of themselves, unlike human kids they need little supervision explaining he didn't pay much attention to Trunks, who loved to be with his father but didn't seek his attention all time. With Bulla character development aside, it's very likely that Vegeta saw her like a mini Bulma and thus as a delicate human that needed more care.
Vegeta was born and raised to be a commander, a general and a conqueror. A political and military figure, not a family caring one (even though a supreme commander of a planet is a father figure to almost everyone). The culture, mindset, education, destiny to fulfil (at least the belief) of Vegeta is completely different from everybody, specially Goku, who's not a TOP dad but is very far from a bad one. And I feel like it took less time to Vegeta "wake up" than it could be. The scene where he calls Trunks to give him a hug made me cry when I was 10 years old and it still does it to this day (22 years after that, damn!). I don't know, seeing Trunks asking what his dad was doing, smiling and saying that "that was weird", absolutely confused cemented into me brain that a bad father figure can change and move on to a good figure with a single and genuine gesture of true love and sacrifice. (Ain't it what's about being a good dad? Sacrifice.)
well tbh he is a saiyan and the prince aswell, sayains don't really care for their family, for example when Raditz was abt to kill goku, or vegeta not caring at all about the whereabouts of his younger brother- its just a sayain thing but vegeta did really become more of an earthling and changed some areas of his perspective towards family. He is still not perfect due to his personality but he is a good father and he will continue to improve since her daughter will 100% take after bulma
People forget he is a Sayan, and an alien. it doesn't work as per earthing standard. to Vegeta parenting is different. On their planet the sons are brought up in a harsh environment, to be strong and nothing else matters. This timeline trunks at it easy. If he was on the home planet it would be the hardest life.
By how the saiyans were born- they stayed in incubators for 2-3 years. So he did not know how to treat him. Also he was sent off world, and planet vegeta was destroyed- So he did not have much to go on with raising him. With bulla he decided to take the earthling route instead of the saiyan one. the closest he had after planet vegetas destruction was nappa- but wasnt much to go on due to how he treated others aside from himself. Also vegeta treated trunks similar to how his father treated him- once he showed more promise was treated better. A prince may deal with the harshness of the world, and a princess maybe shielded from it. his pride maybe his downfall...also he never refered to himself as the new king of the saiyans- always called himself prince...even after knowing his dad was no more.
A topic I would love to see you cover would be the amazing potential for a story made out of bulma's parents passing away from old age and Bone having to come to grips with that that especially in a world with the Dragon balls that are easy to find at this point, like that could make a seriously good narrative good narrative, I also really want to see vegeta as a grandpa to Future trunks's kid because of that classic thing of grandparents treating the grandchildren much better than their own children and given Future trunks time with his father that comparison will be absolutely hilarious
Vegeta's always had that vibe of a grumpy dad that only gets one (1) twenty-minute power-nap each year, but gets woke up early from it by his arsehole neighbor's noise. Every. Damn. Time.
@@user-gd9vp9lg4d I agree but as spoiled as Bulla was she still wasn’t a horrible person to other people as most kids would be if they grew up in that life style Bulma too she turned out pretty well
@@unbornking18 thats might be a Pride thing, bullying those weaker has never been a Vegeta family thing on earth, difference between her and Bulma is that Bulla can fight, so she can act however she wants in public and never be in danger. Bulma only had a power level of 12 last time i checked so big difference
Something something piccolo. His only real competition for worst dad was goku, and we all know once he started actually being a dad he easily surpassed him. But I think best dad in dbz is likely krillin. Or piccolo if you want to count him and how he treats Gohan and his family.
I have to wonder how Akira Toriyama would have written the story if it t was Bulla who was born first. Im sure it would have been very similar, but I’d like to think he would have admired his daughters strength, given she would have fought for years in a ruined future.
Keep in mind that Bulla is like a mini Bulma to him, and therefor maybe seems like more "fragile" and earthling than a son. But given that she would still be his daughter, an half-blooded saiyan, and that the exemple of Gohan existed before, mayne he would still treat her like a saiyan before a daughter I don't know
Counter argument: Goku and Vegeta are saiyans, who dont parent. Theyre both EXCELLENT parents for a race of beings that have zero parenting concepts. Vegeta coming back after 8 years is stull Saiyan dad of the decade.
Only problem is how and why did Vegeta know how to hold Bulla when Trunks was holding her incorrectly? From holding Trunks he was still a dad to Trucks, I think after Future Trucks died he decided to be there for Trucks, he was just distant but still loved his son.
Honestly I didn’t know that it took that long for vegeta to take him to the park. I played a DBZ game about the buu saga on my gameboy as a kid, and in it begets took trunks to a park right after. It wasn’t an amusement park, it was just a regular park, but he still did it.
Kids are the the sums of both parents combined. Future Trunks cared a lot for his father despite knowing how cold, prideful and evil he could be. Present Trunks was very brash and arrogant because of his potential. Bulla was spoiled because of her (mother’s)family’s fortune. Vegeta was brash, arrogant, and spoiled because of how his father treated him. Despite working for Frieza for decades, he never was really humbled until he met Goku. The king instilled the belief that no saiyan could compete with him, only he would have the potential to become a super saiyan, and he could rule the universe some day. Lies of course, but that was his way of protecting his lineage. Sending Broly away was a mistake. He should’ve been apart of Vegeta’s squad to push him and protect him, but that’s another discussion for another time. All of Vegeta’s kids have a fair amount of bits of him and it’s not just enormous potential. They all remind him of how he was when he was younger. In order to keep them from suffering how he did, he treats them better despite not having the same interests.
i also think it maybe had to do with Vegetas upbrining.. he was the oldest son of King Vegeta before their planet was destroyed maybe the Prince didnt know any other way to be with a son though there were moments in the movie about broly where it showed king vageta cared about his son he also had to be stern with him because they were warriors for freeza king vageeta didnt want to send the young prince to fight for freeza but felt he didnt have any choice to agree at that moment promting him to try and overthrow freeza but was killed .. losing his father at such a young age may have prevented him from being able to develop a father/son bond because he wasnt emotionally mature enough for a long time
Vegeta is a great example of how economics plays into criminality. Like he's lucky he married the richest woman in the world. If he wanted to be a good person on Earth and still live in comfort, what were his options? He could play baseball, or he could protect Mr. Satan. Either of those options would make it really easy to accidentally kill a whole bunch of people out of anger.
Vegeta was always the mirror of Goku as a father! He wasn’t used to being a dad early on because he was trying to get stronger for his family and challenge Goku to point of pride, protection, control / being better! *When PEACE PREVAILED & he realized BULMA was capable as a mother to keep Trunks on path of studies, he showed he was passing on a legacy*
I have been watching GT again not once typed in anything about DB into youtube but ofc the intrusive algorithm found me. I don't care what anyone says Vegeta became a great brother to Goku, Cousin to the Z crew, and Father all together. My favorite scene in GT is when Vegeta is dragging Trunks and Goten on to the ship with their little Dad. Also the disappointment when Baby Goten popped up and pretended to be their and help right after this scene in the thumbnail.
In the movie bardock there’s a scene where bardock shows concern for goku and the mother ask “It’s not like a saiyan to care about their kids” I paraphrased but yeah you get why vegeta was like that to trunks
To be fair trunks was his first kid its a learning curve and he came from a upbringing that literaly send kids to planets to take them over vegeta reminds me of a tough dad that stil loves his kids
bulla is just on her way to become bulma 2 ngl. she's the cute daughter of a rich genius now can we talk about picollo vision between seeing pan as gumdrops and rainbows and seeing gohan as disappointment made flesh? gohan with his full potential crushes picollo but he still doesn't catch a break
Trust me my dad was just like him, tough and though my dad did enroll me into boxing he had 6+ years of BJJ of experience and would whoop my ass over all a rough guy… and was just hard ass on me, never even called me by my name just nicknames he hugged me for the first time at 30 years old… and it was crazy it felt good I was actually happy
Dont forget when bulma was close to her due date with bulla vegeta actually refused to enter the tournament of power and said that he missed the birth of his first child and he wont miss the birth of his second child.
Vegeta definitely loves future trunks, the entire Goku black arc proves that. He was willing to sacrifice his own life and didn’t want future trunks to fight. There is an episode where he is telling his son to take Mai and leave while he and Goku took on black. There is even a seen where he came between a blast meant for future trunks. he was very upset and angry when he found out Goku blackhead killed future Bulma. Dragon Ball super was a huge improvement from Dragon Ball Z when it came to Vegeta and future trunks’s relationship. Yes he could have been a better father to kid trunks during the seven year gap, but I do think that he did train him. He would have had to show trunks the basics, it is probably the only thing a SAIYAN father did with his son.
Make a video about Buuhan Beast. In theory Buuhan can access Gohans Rage. When be was about to destroy the fabric of the universe, his eyes were glowing red like Beast Gohan.
I would say its because the way Vegeta saw future Trunks and how strong he mature he was but his while strong plays around to much like during the Buu sage when Goten saw his mother died he wanted to go all out from the beginning but Trunks talked him out of it just to make a show of it i mean what the heck man
Considering how Vegeta was raised... he had not much reference how to be a father, he was born a Saiyan, trained a Saiyan, raised a Saiyan and orphaned like a Saiyan when Berrus send Frieza. It makes his actions much more understandable, yet no less cruel but he still did a 180° as a parent and especially Bulla is spoiled as hell lol
Vegeta Mega spoiled Bulla unlike trunks, she is more spoiled than Bulma ever was, even Beerus became fond of her, to be real, SDBH is probably the only place where Bulla will get animated content, still waiting for SDBH to give Pan and Bulla super saiyan
Besides just getting better at parenting as time went on, he also has to contend with his sayian beliefs, that men are stronger than women, and therefore more suited to being warriors, meaning he views trunks as needing to be strong for the day he can't protect them anymore. Remember, he told trunks to take care of his mother for him before knocking him out, this is backed up by Vegeta himself. Bulla meanwhile is hopefully gonna be like her mom, giving trunks the support Vegeta wish he had sooner. She'd make him armor, and be there as a source of emotional stability. It's also why he clearly wants them to interact, by teaching trunks how to hold her for example. He's accepting he won't be here forever, and is trying to raise them to be ready for the responsibilities his blood entails, as sayians and as something better... Better than himself hopefully. Of course tho, it took a long time for him to fully accept this mindset. There's hints of it, clearly he knows he should have been training trunks sooner, that he needs to be more active, especially after missing him unlocking super Saiyan, but he still is at odds with himself. That's why he needs them to be better and insists trunks train separate from fusion, that he be strong on his own, a reasoning he wasn't allowed to participate in the universe 6 vs 7 tournament... Besides bulma of course.
To be fair, Vegeta didn’t have a sudden case of death during Kid Trunks’s life. Gohan spent an entire year of his life training in “Life or Death” scenarios with Piccolo who was ironically only about 4 - 5 years older than Gohan. Being a distant parent isn’t exactly optimal but he was there. Though Bulla is the reason he actually becomes a more realistic parent. That change was made extremely apparent because Vegeta refused to join the TOP because Bulma was almost ready to have Bulla.
I mean, I'd give him props for how far he's come, especially in a relatively short period compared to his whole story. Goku was already pretty adjusted, being raised by humans, having a more peaceful upbringing and early life compared to Vegeta, who was raised in Sayin culture and the kind of role model his own father was.
Vegeta says to trunks he hadn’t held him since he was a baby and we see a gag moment in cell saga where Bulma yells at him for sticking his face in front of Trunks and making him cry so clearly he made efforts to try and connect with him as a baby. Him being slow to lower his emotional defences and awkward with any positive expressions makes perfect sense. Considering he grew up with a race that sends their children off to conquer planets as babies and was torn away from his father at 5-6 years only to be enslaved by his sworn enemy and watching his entire race go extinct? He is practically a model parent by the time of super. lol
I come from kid who dad spent 3 years with my dad just because he work lot and never hug me ever but he was not bad dad at all. Vegeta was best dad he can be with race just said off to fight over so in them can he better dad them.

Bro literally said, "Kakarot surpassed me (AGAIN) but now he's dead...even his half breed son surpassed me...I gotta get my s&*t together; let me wife up this earth woman and look after our kid because maybe that'll get me the boost I need to be in the number one spot..."
Didn't matter since he threw all of that family nonsense out of the window by letting Babidi control him to go back to how he was before settling down because he felt it was making him soft.
btw vegeta wasn"t controled by babidi second vegeta special provoked goku to the second round of rematch from the sayan sag kaioken x10 hamehameha
Vegeta gave extreme hell training to future trunks in spirit of time chamber, i didnt realize it unitil i rewatch again 😂
Sacrifice.)
spoiling a child is one of the worst things you can do to them kid. He gave up one extreme for another.
Third time is an charm haha
" My baby boy!!!!! "
Vegeta no!! VEGETA YESSS!
Vegeta didn't understand how to be a father. He slowly learned how to become a father.
well tbh he is a saiyan and the prince aswell, sayains don't really care for their family, for example when Raditz was abt to kill goku, or vegeta not caring at all about the whereabouts of his younger brother- its just a sayain thing but vegeta did really become more of an earthling and changed some areas of his perspective towards family. He is still not perfect due to his personality but he is a good father and he will continue to improve since her daughter will 100% take after bulma
Because Bulla is Vegeta little princess
People forget he is a Sayan, and an alien. it doesn't work as per earthing standard. to Vegeta parenting is different. On their planet the sons are brought up in a harsh environment, to be strong and nothing else matters. This timeline trunks at it easy. If he was on the home planet it would be the hardest life.
Yeah like different cultures right
"My Baby booooy!"
We own goku an apology. Goku is a good father.
Damn right you guys do.
My dude doesn't work Bro
@@busbauerr1erwingl17 Neither does Vegeta. Well, Goku works as a vegetable salesman.
@@uchihashuji3449 That’s called a farmer
@@uchihashuji3449 Vegeta is bad aswell, but they are rich as that mf married smart
Super needs to give us Bulla and Pan going super Saiyan. And if they’re feeling brave give us Bulpan
Yeah, that story is very interesting
Can you really see Vegeta smiling and acting happy, enjoying a amusement park?
Ngl he treated trunks like a saiyan father, you earn my love by working to better yourself type of vibe
"Vegeta only only hugged Trunks once in 8y"
Reminder that Goku never kissed his wife in more than 20y of marriage.
These Saiyans are menaces 😂
That is not true, super is just a pile of crap
@@-ayoshattah-ilya14ans70 it is true tho since super is part of the cannon. sorry but they made goku SUPER dumb in that show
I think Vageta saw how Kid Trunks was turning out compared to Future Trunks and recognized his death and absence was good for the boy
Great video
Vegeta going all out against Cell for killing Trunks, was the beginning of Vegeta becoming a true dad
Vegeta's always had that vibe of a grumpy dad that only gets one (1) twenty-minute power-nap each year, but gets woke up early from it by his arsehole neighbor's noise. Every. Damn. Time.
Even though I wasn't a Vegeta fan he had made 180 even though I do think that he was making up for lost time with bulla
By spoiling her to the point where she became an even bigger Diva than Bulma ever was
@@user-gd9vp9lg4d I agree but as spoiled as Bulla was she still wasn’t a horrible person to other people as most kids would be if they grew up in that life style Bulma too she turned out pretty well
@@unbornking18 thats might be a Pride thing, bullying those weaker has never been a Vegeta family thing on earth, difference between her and Bulma is that Bulla can fight, so she can act however she wants in public and never be in danger. Bulma only had a power level of 12 last time i checked so big difference
Vegeta may not be father of the year in the beginning, but he progressed alot. He still is a better father than my father XD
Something something piccolo.
His only real competition for worst dad was goku, and we all know once he started actually being a dad he easily surpassed him. But I think best dad in dbz is likely krillin. Or piccolo if you want to count him and how he treats Gohan and his family.
Gt, that's why it's different from the main Cannon line, plus he cares for both his children
Well GT was the end of the original Dragon Ball timeline, Super is the current timeline, Dragon Ball as a whole doesn't have a main timeline
But given that she would still be his daughter, an half-blooded saiyan, and that the exemple of Gohan existed before, mayne he would still treat her like a saiyan before a daughter I don't know
That's where the saying comes in better late than never.
gettin one hug in 8 years is one hug more than many sons will get their entire life from their dad. talking from experience
Nice video!
Counter argument: Goku and Vegeta are saiyans, who dont parent. Theyre both EXCELLENT parents for a race of beings that have zero parenting concepts. Vegeta coming back after 8 years is stull Saiyan dad of the decade.
it's not about our beginning but our end- vegeta is a good dad
SCHOLAR we need a video on vegeta krillin and gohan friendship and them being war brothers‼️⚡️
Because bula is his princess
Because shes the golden child
I first read the title as "Why Vegeta treats Trunks different to Bulm".
The legacy of goku gameboy game music is soooooo nostalgic ugh
what title screen is that in the beginning
In my opinion it was The Goku black arc (anime) that best represented Vegeta of how much he cared for his son
He was a great Saiyan dad but became a even better earthling dad 😤
Yess vegeta is a good father and Dragon ball z kai remake and Super GT he is alsome dad 😊 also and movies to
i also think it maybe had to do with Vegetas upbrining.. he was the oldest son of King Vegeta before their planet was destroyed maybe the Prince didnt know any other way to be with a son though there were moments in the movie about broly where it showed king vageta cared about his son he also had to be stern with him because they were warriors for freeza king vageeta didnt want to send the young prince to fight for freeza but felt he didnt have any choice to agree at that moment promting him to try and overthrow freeza but was killed .. losing his father at such a young age may have prevented him from being able to develop a father/son bond because he wasnt emotionally mature enough for a long time
Vegeta is a great example of how economics plays into criminality.
Just realized that we never got to see a Super Saiyen mustache.
He is like Homer Simpson
bulla is just on her way to become bulma 2 ngl. she's the cute daughter of a rich genius
now can we talk about picollo vision between seeing pan as gumdrops and rainbows and seeing gohan as disappointment made flesh? gohan with his full potential crushes picollo but he still doesn't catch a break
Vegeta out here paying child support for kids in different timelines.
Trust me my dad was just like him, tough and though my dad did enroll me into boxing he had 6+ years of BJJ of experience and would whoop my ass over all a rough guy… and was just hard ass on me, never even called me by my name just nicknames he hugged me for the first time at 30 years old… and it was crazy it felt good I was actually happy
what is the game at the beginning?
Damn. Forgot that song that plays in the intro
Some people: "?? is a better father than ??."
??: *almost kills his wife and own child*
"Peak dad in GT*
*casually yeets his 8-year old daughter half-way down the street so he can fight*
'k! 😂
Bulla is durable
You forgot the part where he tells her to go home, to keep her away from danger but whatever
That fall is not really gonna do anything to a half Saiyan. Especially when Bulla could control her ki at this point because we see her fly
I forgot nothing. He was doing it for her safety. That doesn't change the fact he threw her down the street to fight.
Make a video about Buuhan Beast. In theory Buuhan can access Gohans Rage. When be was about to destroy the fabric of the universe, his eyes were glowing red like Beast Gohan.
Missing a huge point of how Vegeta and all Saiyan children were raised which impacts his personality and his line of thinking
Hope down the line bulla turns out the way she supposed to she was supposed to be a true royal elite surpassing everyone
I would say its because the way Vegeta saw future Trunks and how strong he mature he was but his while strong plays around to much like during the Buu sage when Goten saw his mother died he wanted to go all out from the beginning but Trunks talked him out of it just to make a show of it i mean what the heck man
Hey the red circle actually circled something this time!!!
He is just an old school father, I'm here that's good enough
That superness soundtrack
Vegeta is a great dad overall, I mean he comes from a warrior race.
he might not be the best father but because he was willing to change he is a better father then many people have
Besides just getting better at parenting as time went on, he also has to contend with his sayian beliefs, that men are stronger than women, and therefore more suited to being warriors, meaning he views trunks as needing to be strong for the day he can't protect them anymore.
You also gotta think about where he comes from They send their children to conquer other planets
I wish my dad was vegeta, he is peak father
Plot twist bulma and krillin die, leaving 18 and vegita to have broly
Its like this only dads are always strict with boys, they to man up in life girls play it on rookie level and still cry 😂😂😂
Vegeta was raised as a Sayian and had to learn to live and love like s human. We really don’t know how fatherhood was in Sayian culture
I'm so over the fighting. I really enjoyed watching the slice of life episodes. Watching our heroes doing normal things is just funny.
Bro I needed to be wished back after the buu saga
