As the writer for those optical thunderbolt videos - great job! Glad to see USB4 coming to the table in a more affordable way. I'll be doing the same soon in my own shop :). I personally didn't have a ton of success with Razer docks myself, but glad it worked out!
The Razer dock has worked beautifully on a MacBook, my HP, and with a short cable to my PC. This was just real finicky, but honestly, I expected that. My CalDigit dock on my desk has its moods too. Thunderbolt on Desktop in general just seems less than stellar. Thanks for the inspiration and watching. 👍
My favorite piece of "gear" to cable manage under desks with a power strip is small 6" extension cables. Perfect for wall warts
i found a pack of 12 on amazon a long time ago, and i used a short a/v rack as a nightstand as well for a while in my room, i had it maxxed out, and the wall warts of several devices plugged into it just took up too much plug space and rack space that i needed, they helped a lot.
as for how i had a rack mount surge protector and a small rack, my mother used to work for M.A.P. before they were sold off to legrande and my father used to maintain things for all of a particular electronics store and would often recycle things that were not needed
I appreciate you printing out your own cable management pieces! I've been implementing the same thing on my own projects and it is a game changer! No more unnecessary trips to the hardware store..!
The extrusion integration for organization is slick!
Good integration of tech for a studio setup. One thing I'd recommend when adding things like splitters and hubs is always run a bench test before sending all the wires and final routing. It can sometime save you from doing things twice or reconsidering alternative options.
Really like how this build is progressing!
Woow the OBSbot camera looks pretty good.
I was expecting a slightly better than a webcam type of quality. But the dynamic range was pretty good.
I was pleasantly surprised. It is no mirrorless camera but for the price and with the solid PTZ tracking, the image impressed me. I need to learn how to expose the image for my lighting setup, but I'm figuring it out bit by bit.
Linus, give them man some of your cable management clips!!
Im picking up my OBS BOT today and telling my friends; ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER holy crapppppp
Pure-Fi's shop site seems to either not be set up, or it's the wrong link... But even their Amazon store page doesn't have the USB-C cable on it :(
Very strange. Their products were there just a few days ago. They must be updating something on their end. I’d check again soon.
Sounds like you just need to do a DIY Perks move and make a workbench desk PC.
Still suffers the "splitting the budget" issue unfortunately. I could have easily mounted a small PC / Mac mini under the bench, but would rather upgrade the main PC with that money. This can evolve over time without having to rebuild the workbench entirely every upgrade cycle.
@@MandicReallyYeah, I know, I jest. I just have fever dreams of powerful desk PCs. Don't you?
This is so damn cool. I really love just about everything about this channel.
Dang Manic your setup is awesome! Totally jealous
Cool build, like the solution and love the camera allowing you to move. Also should you be gaming at your work desk, arnt you supposed to be working. Lol
If you Game Stream from time to time, gaming IS work! Math! 🤣
@@MandicReallytax deduction for gaming peripherals 😁
What Macropad is that that you are using? On your main pc*
Nice use of 123 blocks for product stands 🤣 And by that, I mean I'll probably steal the idea
Their numver one used around here. 🤣
Pure-Fi's web store is empty... odd
Just one question.. can you provide a link to that camera ndi adapter?
Certainly, here it is on their store: shrsl.com/4fjs5 (affiliate link), use Coupon Code: MandicReallyA to save 5% (over $129)
Or here it is on Amazon: amzn.to/3uKBueG (affiliate link)
I'm curious how you go with the ethernet in that dock if you do end up using it, mine dies *all the time*.. also Razer if you're watching.. WHY IS THE USB/THUNDERBOLT PORT ON THE FRONT?!
I have no use for it in this setup. The PC has its own 2.5Gb port I use with my 2.5Gb network. I did use that port with my HP Laptop and a MacBook a fair bit, neither had any connectivity issues. Sorry I don’t have any better input for you.
Nice work. Might be worth me moving my desktop to the basement now. The Linus way is just way out of touch with real world economics.
Great video! Awesome with another cheaper option than the one Linus had.
Yea I was really disappointed when I realized how out of reach the original idea was. A little while later and more affordable options are coming around. Just got to wait sometimes.
@@MandicReally Yeah, it was way out of reach for me. Lol. Thanks for showing us this. :D
So you did end up getting things running reliably then?
It hasn’t given me any trouble since connecting downstream of my primary Thunderbolt dock.
@@MandicReally Good Shit!
yjr network connection is covered.
It isn’t of any use in this application. The PC has a 2.5Gb connection that is used. I only use the hub port with laptops, which it comes out of that cradle for.
call me crazy... OCD or what ever... but the filament rack in back doesn't look level
Camera angles, lens distortion, and an unlevel building. The rack IS level, but any one of those things can make it look out of whack. The roof of this space is tapered from one end to the other, so the black moving blankets you see at the beginning are running downhill (they are attached to the ceiling). That's why I switched to the grey cloth you can see later in the video. It hides the optical illusion better.
5950x with 48gb ram but only a 3060 here. I'll trade LOL That camera is very nice and it shows in the price ;) Go cheap and end up buying multiple units or go for the big dog and have it last a long time.
itec usb4 dock.
Is ~100E, has all them ports. works. is metal. get it.
