    Could use this next link/device if your Graphics card or console has only ONE HDMI port, this is a bi-directional HDMI 2.1 Switcher, so you can run both displays to one side of the switcher and then your single source into the other side. when you want to switch displays/rooms. instead of unplugging display 1's HDMI from pc or console to then plug in display 2's Fiber-optic HDMI, its as simple as hitting a button! PLEASE NOTE IM STILL CURRENTLY TESTING THIS SWITCHER, so far, its pasted through 4k VRR HDR all fine at the same time but something was happening with Atmos at the same time. I've tried other brand switchers they were junk, this one says it does do it! i may have to go into the NVidia control to fix it but ill report back with a fix if there is one!

      Why did you use a Ethernet to USB adapter when they sell usb3 100ft cables now. You could easily use a USB 3 hub and have lots of connectivity.
      I'm not being snarky, I am genuinely curious if there was a reason.

      @@sirgriffinman sry i never saw this! a few things mostly cost effectiveness for me, i have a whole box of cat6 so i repurposed it. At the time i think it would have been or still could be cheaper to just use cat6 an adapter, thinking anyone could also purchase thee exact amount they needed, not have to wind up extra or not have enough an start plugging Mutiple cables together that could become problematic later on. last, kinda 2in1 problem, i routed outside with the cable. i knew the cat6 would be fine, not only with the elements but also the thin line going through my walls. The other part of the (outside route) i only have 2 Fail points in-line total, (the ends) and one being the signal repeater or "signal booster". The cables i was looking at via amazon had multiple little signal boosters throughout the usb3 cables, those would have added more fail points imo, also i honestly didn't no how well those amazon cables would last being outside let alone those little signal boosters inline lol. Long winded but hey someone else could be thinking of doing this via the usb3 cable way and might not have thought through every way it could potentially fail, or i could be completely wrong lml, id fall back to the re-use my materials bit haha

    Super helpful video. I have one question, is it possible to use a wireless controller? For example, use an Xbox controller with an Xbox Wireless Adapter connected to that USB box since I want to hide the USB over Ethernet Extender Device?

    • @tictechtone
      @tictechtone  Před 6 měsíci

      i dont see why not, think of that box as just a extension of your pcs iO, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW! i personally find myself hardwiring a dual sense edge controller just for (haptic feedback\adaptive triggers) but i myself definitely see the want for wireless and clean aesthetic. that being said i use my secondary pcs (keyboard\mouse with their wireless dongles) for ease of use (that way i do not have to carry my main peripherals back and forth) and both worked fine without any (additional) input lag you would find via a Bluetooth/dongle connection (both seemed perfectly normal and worked via dongle)
      but ill double check and get back! ill also test headsets W/dongle to see if there's any audio lag or if Atmos will continue to work, as far as a xbox controller w dongle i cant test atm because i simply don't have that setup on hand, i have a series x controller but no dongle specifically for it sorry.

    Thank you for the review on the cable. Im going to get one for myself to game in my living room. Does it work well with launching games? For example, when launching a game, does it launch on the primary display and then you have to switch manually to your tv? If so, it would be good if there was a way to have game icons on the TV display that forces it to launch to that display and resolution.

    • @tictechtone
      @tictechtone  Před 4 měsíci +1

      i like to fully explain lol so read on.. honestly what ive choose to do, just to avoid a handshake issue on my end, simply swap what cable's being plugged into my Graphics card. Example if my studio display is using the pc, I then want to game downstairs, while my pc's in (rest mode/shutdown mode), ill just simply unplug (from my GPU) the HDMI 2.1 cable going to the studio display and simply plug the 2nd (fiber optic cable) into my GPU instead(i tuck that cable under my pc). Y? i Was using a hdmi 2.1 switcher where at buttons press it CAN! cut the signal from display1 and just re-output that same image to display2 (I ALWAYS CLOSED A GAME AND RESTARED IT) but BEING REZ/FPS an all setting would be the same on both displays it would just work. MY problem i think will be specific where you may not have such issues. My studio display is a Samsung QD-oled let's say gen1 of this display also my first Samsung lol. My issue would start when wanting to switch BACK to display1 from Display2 after that gaming session via that switcher. for w,e reason samsung IS COMPLETE SHi* at hot swapping or even booting from sleep mode with detecting a pc video source, it happens allllll the time and its wildly annoying STILL lol, display2 is a lg oled and i never had a handshake issue EVER on any of my lg oleds. perhaps that's what i get gaming on the bleeding edge of tech/displays but man the qd-oled display to my eyes are worth the bugs lol! I just did away with the switcher and do it manually now < less handshake issues, i could at least try some quick tests when a game is on to see you. If that's a interest maybe a quick follow up video on it, but hope this helps HAVE A GOOD DAY!

    • @mertymen2010
      @mertymen2010 Před 4 měsíci

      @tictechtone Thanks for the reply. I have since found an interesting workaround that may work for you. It isn't perfect, but may work better for you as your display resolutions are the same (my pc display is 1440 and TV is 4k).
      Steam big picture mode... in the settings, you can choose what display big picture mode launches on, and it will also launch the game to that display too. Once you close big picture mode, it reverts back to your main display.
      Another upside is that big picture mode is fully controllable with a controller.
      Another tip is that if you press the xbox button on the controller, it brings Steam up and then press it again, it will launch big picture mode.
      Only issue I can see at the moment is that it NEEDS to be a Steam game, else it doesn't launch correctly (GTA V on rockstar games launcher).
      Im thinking another game manager that supports big picture mode may work for other platforms, too.

    my question though is, do you extrend or mirror the TV downstairs? thanks!

    • @tictechtone
      @tictechtone  Před 3 měsíci

      So those options would only apply in the scenarios when both TVs are plugged into my GPU/pc at the same time or through a splitter/switcher. My GPU only has 1 HDMI 2.1 port sadly so what I've currently been doing is swapping displays as needed (just simply swapping cables into pc). Example: (play downstairs) unplug the upstairs display(HDMI), then plug the downstairs HDMI cable into GPU/PC, then obviously the TV downstairs would be the only display connected no extend or mirror however, when I was using a spitter feeding both displays at the same time id either mirror the TV downstairs or just set the TV downstairs as priority and not display the image on the TV upstairs at the same time (when wanting to swap back id change the priority back to the other display then walk upstairs). The reason I've settled on unplugging HDMI cables and swapping them around is mainly my work flow, not using the TV downstairs w PC everyday, or (MAINLY) Because of a handshake issue with the display in studio, the Samsung QDoled, though cutting edge visually, Samsung cant seem to figure out how not to have a bug when the PC comes out of sleep mode (not always) or swapping displays via a HDMI 2.1 spitter/switcher LOL hope this answers ur questions
      my 2 sense being there are problematic variables either extending or mirroring your setup, I've found the above solution JUST simplifies things, not having to go into display settings via pc and make sure w,e display u want to use is priority at the time of use EVERYTIME, If you do want to keep both on at the time mirroring the image potentially hurts system performance, if your extending the image and the OTHER displays on the other end of the house N you need something to come over from the first display, I could see where it would be annoying not seeing what your trying to grab/open. I guess tinker and see what best suits you after all these problems could be subjective and may not apply to but MY pov as for (gaming) I just like the display I want to game on to simply just work lol 😂 HAVE A GOOD ONE!

      when i want to use a headset, i have Mutiple, VIRTUOSO RGB WIRELESS SE and XT, ps5 headset, series x headset and the starfield one. Both virtuoso headsets has slipstream dongles, i just plug that dongle into that peripheral box(usb box) and use my headset that way, or if i want to hardwire any of the headsets, use a usb-a to usb-c and simply plug the headset "again" into the peripheral box, if your headset doesn't have usb-c or usb option to hardwire or a dongle, only uses Bluetooth what you could always do is buy a (Bluetooth dongle) plug that into the peripheral box and it would allow the Bluetooth signal to be picked up that far away from ur pc, transmitting the Bluetooth signal back through that peripheral box/cat6 line into the pc. im sure that should work. ive used my keyboard dongles downstairs also and they work fine wirelessly driving the keyboard downstairs. hope that works if u need analog possibly a dongle with a 3.5mm jack but lol im not sure if those exist.
      the reason the Atmos badge was popping up is because both my tv and my soundbar have Dolby Atmos and i have Atmos enabled on the pc(paid version). i wanted to show that indeed the Atmos still works properly that far away from the pc all while features like hdr, vrr, gsync, full hdmi 2.1 where all also enabled, so in short yes that was the display picking up the Atmos signal from the pc and popping the badge. hope this helps, dont like to be short and sweet lol, u should have enough context here to help! have good one!

      Soon We will have that star trek vibe! LG just dropped a pretty cool piece of tech for one of there oled tvs (being fully wireless), kid of semi modular with an extra box off the tv, you'd plug Ur pc or consoles into that and then it sends the video signal over to the tv wirelessly. pretty cool
      And yes IT COULD be potentially problematic having the lines exterior mounted, I personally have never had that happen but im sure it does, some ppl suck lol. You could either install conduit on the outside of your house and keep the cables inside a (metal tube) or run them through as many walls as you can, the fiber optic cable was designed for new construction and was supposed to be ran through the studs of your house b4 drywalls installed, if you have excess that way is the best, if not and you're really worried about it you can go the conduit route (again) and now adays, conduit that match's the color of your home so its not an eye soar, hope that helps, PS the cables have also been exposed to the elements rain wind hail and still work great we will see here in the winter months ahead ill keep you posted

    • @tictechtone

      there is No Transmitter inline for the HDMI.
      the "transmitter is only being used to convert the (Cat6 ethernet cable) into a USB capable cable while also adding power to help the boost the USB signal back and forth with such a long distance for a usb cable connection. Think of it as a LONG USB EXSTENDER CABLE.
      as far as the displays themselves work, i currently have (2) different hdmi 2.1 cables routed to the back on my pc\GPU, one for my office\studio, and the other routed to thee other display (from this video). MY first problem was, my GPU only has 1 HDMI 2.1 port, what i was doing was simply swapping cables depended on what display i was going to use at that time. so essentially, i want to use my studio display id plug that hdmi cable into the pc, vice versa "constantly swapping each hdmi end into my GPU/pc, pretty annoying ". My fix for that inconvenience, i grabbed a hdmi 2.1 switcher so i could just keep both cables plugged in at the same time, then at a button's press just Swapp the output display. hope that helps clean something up for you, long winded but hope it helps!
      for you or anyone reading this and needs a HDMI 2.1 switcher get one that says (BI directional or Two-way Switch) so the video signal from pc\console can pass through either side of the switcher box depending on what you're trying to achieve

BEING IM PC without going into the weeds yet and losing you lol, if you look at the box @ 12:07 you can see 3rd row down, basically my pc/display set to 4k 120 though im using VRR but that's beside the point atm. if you look one more row down "4th row" you'll see the display doing (RGB 10Bit 4L10) meaning HDR 10BIT At the same time as 4k@120hz. Yes it can do everything you're asking simultaneously, and again without going into a weeds or answering you wrong, HDR Gaming or HDR in general is 10bit period, so while playing any of my games in HDR i should always be @10bit even so in the Nvidia control panel. i hope that helps and i hope im not dumbing it down if you no all of these things lol but simply that's why i added that part in the video, so ppl would see in real time the capabilities of this setup

    this doesn’t look like a certified HDMI cable

      sometimes I overlook things, but thankfully i keep all my boxes and paperwork so I'll have to double check to see if there was a HDMI Badge! That being said from what i Honestly expected of this cable to what its actually outputting in RealWorld use its been flawless, and way cheaper than running everything professionally with High-end parts. there's always going to be better tech out there, But somethings just work for a use case!
      not trying to be a advocate for this cable lol or have a dog in the fight, but the cable is currently maxing out the HDMI 2.1 specs from pc to the display its hooked into (LG CX), an hitting all the FPS/specs the displays capable of Simultaneously, or at the very least all that i wanted it to do.
      now i have another display (s95b) that can lets say overclock, into a 4k 144hz mode, i could test different bit rates wale doing that, but would be a whole different video itself. I could test the legitimate and limitations of the cable (real world) in and out but i still stand by my previous statement.
      the point of the video was to get my pc running onto a display with HDMI 2.1 capability's that was over 100ft away and id say it's a W, though i agree with the HDMI badge (i even have the app lol) I'll just have to double check and if no badge, possibly because of it being a newer cable (fiber-optic\HDMI Ended) and hasn't undergone certification yet, my speculation w/out looking into it fully. But thanks for the Comment!

      Who cares. It works.
      The badge is a nice guarantee, but the existence of certs and badges doesn't mean that non certified and badged cables won't work.

      I mean, the only negative I'd say is the bare exposed cable. I would've ran it in a wall for sure, or in his case, would have used conduit and painted it the same color as the siding.
