  • The Year of Return, Ghana 2019 is an initiative of the government of Ghana - along with the U.S.-based Adinkra Group - that is intended to encourage African diasporas' to come to Africa (specifically Ghana) to settle and invest in the continent. It was formally launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo[1] in September 2018 in Washington, D.C. as a program for Africans in the diaspora to unite with Africans. The year 2019 is symbolic as it commemorates 400 years[2] since the first enslaved Africans touched down in Hampton, in the English colony of Virginia in America.[3] The program also recognizes the diaspora's achievements and sacrifices in the time since that event.[4][5] Starting from when President Barack Obama made a visit to the Cape Coast in 2009, many famous, respected and admired African-Americans from the diaspora have visited Ghana to discover its culture.[6] The Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture lined up a slate of activities in "celebration of the resilience of the African spirit."[7][8] Many African Americans shared their stories regarding their experiences in Ghana during the Year of Return

Also I'm a Ghanaian and bcos I'm a big guy I always get a different price it's economics, if you are perceived to be affluent in a financially depressed system the balance of supply and demand are not the only variables that affect price. This is worldwide

They don't think that in Dubai and Europe.

Ekow. Let them stay where they are and deal with their negativity. Nobody is forcing them to come here anyway

A plumber in America will not charge the same for a job in an affluent neighborhood as a job in a, lower Cass area , true or false

Yes they will. It’s often a set price. So the answer to your question is false

@@hasanicarter5543 Erm nope price set for what, if someone come to your house say, to remove junk, they will price it acording to how affluent they perceive you to be. Having different prices for different demographics is nothing new nor is it restricted to Africa.

@@cocu9371 in America… that is not the case. Prices are not usually open to negotiation. And certainly not according to how affluent someone thinks you to be. Here, it’s either you can afford it… or not. But prices are usually fixed here. It’s not as fluid, as it is in the markets, in West Africa.

Nobody is targeting AAs, even me, having travelled away from Ghana for so long. Whenever I go to buy they raise the price on me. So it is not so much that African Americans are targeted, as long as they see you are not a local they raise the price on you.
Heck I went to cut my hair and decided to buy a hair product, the guy doubled the price even though I am Ghanaian, it has nothing to do with being an African American. You will get that in Morrocco, Egypt and many other tourist places. Some African Americans tend to have a strong victim mentality, which is unfortunate. nobody is out to get you. Chill.
