    The Year of Return, Ghana 2019 is an initiative of the government of Ghana - along with the U.S.-based Adinkra Group - that is intended to encourage African diasporans to come to Africa (specifically Ghana) to settle and invest in the continent. It was formally launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo[1] in September 2018 in Washington, D.C. as a program for Africans in the diaspora to unite with Africans. The year 2019 is symbolic as it commemorates 400 years[2] since the first enslaved Africans touched down in Hampton, in the English colony of Virginia in America.[3] The program also recognizes the diaspora's achievements and sacrifices in the time since that event.[4][5] Starting from when President Barack Obama made a visit to the Cape Coast in 2009, many famous, respected and admired African-Americans from the diaspora have visited Ghana to discover its culture.[6] The Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture lined up a slate of activities in "celebration of the resilience of the African spirit."[7][8] Many African Americans shared their stories regarding their experiences in Ghana during the Year of Return

      We Ghanaians don't care whether Ghana is better than Nigeria or vice versa. What we care and are asking those who are flocking to our country Ghana including Nigerians is that, they should obey the laws of our country. Secondly Ghana is not an extension of Nigeria so you guys should not expect Ghanaians to be or behave like Nigerians. We Ghanaians are a distinct people with a distinct culture and we love the way we are. No one should come to Ghana to tell Ghanaians what they should eat and how they should prepare their food etc. We keep Cats as pets and eat white eggs 🥚 and that's why we are Ghanaians.

    You need to grow up. Nigeria is not what you think or you love to hear. You need to start asking hard questions on people who always say ghana is heaven. That is what nigerian media does. You inerrogate people not going crazy and start saying ghana is better all the time. Are you a kid? If they say ghana has more electricity which is a fact, ask them, are you producing transformers wires poles metres in ghana? Nigerian companies do that. If you say ghana has better health facilities, ask hard questions like why is aisha sessey of cnn bringing her mother dr kodi sessey from sierra leone to nigeria for treatment rather than ghana? If you say ghana receive more fdi than nigeria, why is a single refinery in nigeria dangote bigger more than 2 times than all ghana industries combined? If ghana is better in sports why is nigeria no 2 and ghana no 6 in all africa games hosted in your backyard? Ask hard questions rather than behaving like kids and spreading rumors all about

    • @STEPONESTUDIOSGH
      @STEPONESTUDIOSGH Před 2 měsíci +3

      If you produce transformers in Nigeria, why not use it for good in Nigeria but selling it to Ghana to use?
      If you say health care in Ghana is good we mean that the average Ghanaian is able to enjoy proper health care not just the rich. Many Nigerian millionaires travel to Ghana for medical care too so that's a no brainer.
      We are very aware that Dangote is the richest man in Africa, good. What is the difference between Dangote and the average Nigerian, that should be your worry. Wealth distribution in Nigeria is nothing to write home about.
      Not saying Ghana is better than Nigeria but certain things must be said.
      Free health care for all Ghanaians
      Free primary school and secondary or high school for all Ghanaian children.
      Electricity and water isn't a problem in Ghana.
      Relative peace in Ghana, no terrorism, no boko haram, no Fulani herdsmen, no tribal conflicts etc.
      Ghana is no where close to where we want it to be but that doesn't mean Nigerians should look down on us.
