It's funny how Deban says that he doesn't need several "folklore" songs every year while most songs in Eurovision are actually quite generic pop.
And folklore is quite unique to every country...

We are proud of our entry, almost 1 Million of view in 3 days, it's insane when you compare this to the Eurovision hype we unfortunately don't have in France 😕 This song will become really popular in France, and the first step to win Eurovision is to send a song you like in your own country. We have the first step, the song is unique and memorable, the performance is catchy and memorable too, let's go get an other insane result !

We are in big 5, Semi-Finals are not broadcasted in the main TV channel in France, and there are a lot of emissions Saturday night. Barbara Pravi did 250k views in the same time last year, so Fulenn is really giving a new hype to Eurovision in France

Breton is actually a celtic language and not a French dialect, its closest neighbours are Cornish and Welsh.
Also the Bretagne region is actually smaller than Brittany itself, including the Loire-Atlantique département which isn't in the administrative region has the former capital city, Nantes. You miss a fifth of it on your map then 😇
And "Fire" is "TAN" in breton, and your opinions and your way of presenting them absolutely have it ♥️

your interpretation is very interesting - how much about the story behind the song do you know?
because it is *exactly* right. the background mythology is a folk story of bretagne, it's about a girl who wanted to dance and party, but was locked away by her uncle until she could find a suitor who could dance for 12 hours with her. but all the men died trying to entertain her, until one servant helped her escape into the woods, where she finally found a man who could dance with her, crazier and crazier, until she herself died. turns out, it was the devil. the story then goes that even today in a full moon you can hear hear dance in the woods around that castle in brettony. the girl's called catherine the damned (only french wiki).
also, the song reinterprets this story a bit with its 'chorus': "yeah, I am dancing with the devil - so what", so it's got a strong empowerment feel to it.

Foreigners like when you talk to them about Paris, the love that drips... It's so cliché!! Ok, met France is not just Paris!!! Our "breton" is not a dialect, it's a language. The cries of the singer are heard here in our "fest noz" when people dance together.. And our "fest noz" are recognized as part of the intangible heritage of humanity by Unesco. The costumes are not copies of foreign countries, the are made with old embroideries made here.. Sad to see that the vision of postcard Paris still takes precedence over minority culture which in my eyes is just as valuable...

Here Declan said himself that he didn’t show interest in it this year and it resulted in quite insensitive comments about Britton culture, this is not folklore to us but the songs that we grew up with, that keep on evolving and got modernized to the point of being able to enter Eurovision, no « messiness » or copy involved.

For your information, this is also a feminist anthem from britain mithology story about a girl forced by her dad to be married, and she prefered to escape in the forest, and dance with devil until death rather than loose her freedom …

First of all welcome to my country! Where in Morocco are you? Now I’m GLAD France chose this song cuz it was def the best out of all the options. This is a better Tanxugueiras.

    lyrics
    Let's go!
In the darkness of the woods germinates the night
The starts appear in the restless rustle
A feminine shadow twirls in the light of a torch
By making wild beasts I dance
I steal the fire from their gaze full of desire
And turn it in a song to sing in unison
She dances with the devil, so what?
I dance with the devil, so what?
Blaze and mud, blaze, party, and mud
The forest vibrates in contact with the dancing spark
Its enchanting magic rises until the tall trees
By making wild beasts I dance
I steal the fire from their gaze full of desire
And turn it in a song to sing in unison
Fearless in the middle of the clearing dance the spark
Twirl and twirl around it unchained souls (x2)
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
I dance with the devil, so what?
    WIth the devil I dance
She dances with the devil, so what?
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
    Lalalalalalaleno lalelalo
Fearless in the middle of the clearing dances the spark

I love this entry and we so sad to see it end up penultimate at this year's ESC. It had so much energy and mysticism. Showcasing their culture is what ESC is all about.
Deban doesn't seem to understand this at all. He's such a downer. Also, Breton is NOT a dialect of French. Please learn that.
William's positivity is what keeps me coming back to wiwibloggs. Thanks for your positive review.

I love this song, I really do. But I'm very sceptic about how it will translate in a presentation. I do love folk trance. And normally, these presentations are with just a DJ and a voice sample. So I don't really know if this will translate to Eurovision in a good manner. Kudos to France because it is an entrancing song and I've been listening to the studio version in repeat. But I'm not that sure if I would put it as a possible winner. Definetely a fan favourite by now and the song is marvelous. But I'll have to wait for the final presentation I guess.

I though this seemed quite naff at first, primarily because of the French final's cheap staging, the cheesy pyro and the overall messiness... but since then I have been listening to the studio version on repeat. It's so addictive! I think this has huge potential for televote success, and France showed last year they can really improve the staging for the real thing. I'm now looking forward to this most in Turin!

This is much better than Spanish song. Like French Boney M. If they win Spain win cry out for their runner up. But I want Spain or France to win this year.
