Farmers who had those with bad bottom seals use John Deere corn head grease in the gear boxes. No more seal issues. The corn head grease is a high temp., high pressure grease. That hoop between the two lift points should be up for the pto shaft.

I’m learning this, I wish someone mentioned this about my 1010 bulldozer that was leaking out of the seals, would have used grease instead

Dave thanks for sharing. Be careful when welding galvanized material. Have heard of people welding indoors and dying from fume inhalation. Zinc and other metal fumes are extremely toxic.
Also a suggestion with the u joint that wouldn’t take the spring clip. I have welded washers over the cap onto the yoke. Easy to cut off next time you have to replace the u joint.

    • @Dumpster_Dave

@@Dumpster_Dave it is some nasty stuff. I have welded it a few times too. Makes you not want to touch it again lol. I knew a guy that worked in an Alro plant who was bald and said the fumes in there made his hair fall out and they had to pay him for it.

Absolutely, We were putting helical piers in last week on a job outside with a slight breeze going. After the installation, we had to cut them off 4 inches below the top of the footer and then drill a hole for the bolt on the top plate. The contractor decided to use a torch to punch the holes through. That night he was in the emergency room with difficulties breathing so even outside and ventilated you have to be careful

Not even small ones may be only a couple inches. You start trying to take down 5 inch stuff and boy. You're gonna break everything. You'll be blind at every clutch you put in. Dave on my old shredder it use to roll the sides under until we made some skids out of flat plate and took some rebar and used that to stiffen up the sides plus we welded the rebar to the top of the deck and tied it into the sides. That sure made a big difference in stiffening up that shredder. You should buy that tractor off of Andrew.

Great job Dave, really enjoy your channel. How do you like that Milwaukee cut off saw compared to say a 9” grinder ?
“Just a note” with the gear box i’d fill it with heavy gear oil instead of the grease as the oil will stop it from over heating. There could be a seal gone hence the reason grease was added.

I bought a high dollar steel cutting blade and put it on my hand saw and it does the same thing. Cuts metal like butter. I was actually blown away how well it cuts. I cut some angle iron like you just cut but it was about twice as wide as that one and cut probably 12 or so cuts with it and it didn't skip a beat. I used the angle iron to put in my smoker for added heat holding ability.

I learned that 99% of the time, old guys will get a leak on the gear case for their equipment, and then just throw grease in there instead of gear oil. It works, but I don't know about the longevity of it. However running with something packed full of grease, is always going to be better than running it dry, and you wont have to worry about leaks, just cleaning it out now and then to refill it with grease.

Should have never taken the loader off. That's asking for a tree branch through the radiator. Plus that brush hog is way to light duty for what you're trying to do!

If you watch Andrew Camarata‘s video within two minutes of mowing one of the lines got ripped off because the lines are too close to the ground. Poor design.

Man, I hate banjo bolts. if engineers would keep them out of machinery unless absolutely necessary, I bet a lot of issues would cease to be

@@Dumpster_Dave Ok, so after your reply I came back to give better details of what was wrong. Right before I started to type, I thought listen to it again. It's gone, just a single audio track plays now. Before it was awful, it sounded almost like two people were trying to make a video at the same time. There was more to it than just that, but thats a simple basic explanation.
Been watching CZcams for 8 or 9 years and never seen (heard) anything like it. It never occurred to me it was some type of bad connection/playback issue.
Anyhow, now I can enjoy your video. Thanks for the content.

If I were you I would edit out the part where you can see your phone number on the poster otherwise you'll get 10,000 phone calls on your business phone.
