Cardio Workout with Dumbbells for Seniors & Beginners // Osteoporosis Friendly!

- Thank you for joining me for this fun and effective 20 minute workout! These exercises are osteoporosis and osteopenia friendly so there are no movements that involve twisting of the spine or rounding of the back. This workout is a great way to improve both your cardio fitness as well as your bone density.
After a quick warm up we will grab our hand weights (I'm using just 2lbs or 1Kg). Make sure you are using very light hand weights because we hold on to them throughout the entire workout. Water bottles are also great to use. This video is set to the music and the exercises are set to a timer, so you can choose to stay with me or go at your own pace. We will complete the workout with a cool down and a few stretches. You will feel great!

I am so grateful to have found your channel. I am 45 years old and have been struggling to find some form of exercise that feels good and that I look forward to doing. After dealing with tennis elbow and frozen shoulder for a few year I was left feeling frustrated that every time I start a workout program for beginners my body would hurt too bad to continue. I felt defeated and I joked to myself that I needed a workout for seniors because even the beginner programs were too much. I literally typed in senior workouts into CZcams to see what came up and I found you. I tried a few workouts and felt a little sore the next day, but nothing too painful. Now I look forward to my exercise! I also let go of trying to do it everyday and focused on when I had the time so that I didn't keep beating myself up. We all have seasons when we are busy with work, or families, and we don't have the time everyday. I finally have given myself permission to do what I can when I can and that's enough. I also don't get stuck on which video to do. I just pick one that looks interesting and try it out. 99% of your videos that I have tried feel good to my body. So grateful for this channel!! Your workouts are helping me to gain strength and confidence picking up and carrying my 20 pound baby grandson. Wow! What an interesting plan for this week: lots of dumbbells, Pilates and standing stretches! I love it all! And today's cardio with dumbbells is a lot of fun - a variety of easy exercises. Loved this class!! First time doing it, and since I’m recovering from carpel tunnel surgery, I’m gradually getting back into using weights, so 2lbs. was perfect!! I combined this class with the walking weight loss class and a 10 minute stretching class!!! Thank you!!! 😊

71 yo with rare spinal disease and osteo….perfect but modified some stuff but used 5 pound weights in a few of the moves :) so refreshing to find something for us older folks. Seems a lot of other influencers are all geared to really intense workouts using very heavy weights.

I am really embracing my senior years with these workouts. I no longer feel like I need to kill myself to get results. Love the weights and cardio and the stretching is awesome.

I'm becoming weaker, shaky and more unbalanced with my fibromyalgia unfortunately even though I have been doing short cardio sessions on youtube (10-15mins), yoga for a good while, walking when the TX heat isn't 100 and above and had restarted pilates this year which I haven't done consistently but did one yesterday and today on someone else's site with a very lovely lady from England I believe and it really was a killer for me even tho it's pretty basic. To get back to you, I enjoyed this work out and did it yesterday and I stay posted for workouts I think I can do. I have osteoarthritis in my whole spine, and other joints and trying to prevent osteoporosis. Thank you once again ❤🙏❤ Jill

Love your videos and use them weekly to supplement my gym classes. One thing that does surprise me is that I’m encouraged to hydrate in my classes but you don’t give water breaks. I take a quick sip when I can in between sections.
Absolutely Rina! Water is important, but your right, I only have a few videos where there are water breaks. Definitely keep drinking your water :)

Thank you, Lauren. I needed a quick early morning workout and this was perfect! I was diagnosed with osteoporosis about 8 years ago. I'm only 5', and petite, so definite risk factors. I've been on meds and have been doing weight bearing exercises and I reversed the osteoporosis. As long as I can, I will continue to incorporate cardio and strength training into my routine. ♥️♥️

@SeniorShapeFitness women need to know that osteoporosis is reversible! I follow a vegan diet, and haven't had red meat since I was 17. There's plenty of calcium sources besides dairy products.

Thank you Lauren for your new workout this morning. It was so nice to have a different type of cardio/tone for strength. I do my best to workout with weights of all heaviness 3xs a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I do have Osteopenia so keeping my bone marrow up with Strength Training is a priority for me.
