imagine if Slash never went to that guitar lesson and stayed a bass player???? Scary shit
nonono nono lol that would be interesting
nonono nono the GnR we all know and love would never have been the same
GnR never would have happened I suppose.
nonono nono The butterfly effect
He wouldn't be as famous😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha Slash: I wanna play bass - Teacher: No, no you do not
now he must be like:"I... I saved the world..."
+Joseph Skledar yes, he must be saying to everyone: if it weren't for me, sweet child o'mine wouldn't exist
+Airamgirl999 Haha
+Airamgirl999 More like "If it weren't for me, sweet child o'mine wouldn't be worth listening to"
god damn right.
To the people saying Slash is overrated, The man made one of the greatest solos and in the history of Rock. The guy is a Legend.
+Hashed Prod. Why do people say Slash sucks? He really doesn't!
who in the hell would say he's overrated? He is a legend
Over rated? He's sooooo fuckin awesome he's under rated 👍
thelolguy007 Slash is nothing but underrated lol but at the same time, he's not overrated
Some people praise him a lot so he's overrated
Some people think he's shit so he's underrated
He's the only one qualified to play "Sweet child o mine" at guitar center
And even he doesn't.
@@DemonSlide he doesn’t need to
he doesn't even like Sweet Child O' Mine lol
@@penoyer79 , I heard he used to dislike it, but learned to really appreciate it over the last few years :)
@@kaylee4970 well it probably made him a lot of money lol
I’ll never forget seeing him on stage in 1991 at 10 years old: top hat, smoking a cigarette and shredding his guitar. The epitome of cool.
Dude, he doesn't like to shred the strings
@@karencarcamo2109 just saw GNR a few days ago, and trust me, he did a lot of shredding hahaha
That guitar teacher who steered Slash towards electric guitar gave us more than he could ever know.
The "Sweet Child O Mine" solo will go down in history as one of the best rock solos ever, and Slash is the guy who delivered it. With that on his resume, it doesn't matter how he's rated by guitarists who haven't achieved something like that. Go Slash!
Well said!👍
Which one there's like two or three
EricBlackmonGuitar Agreed!
Completely agree.
Your rite hes bad ass GO SLASH YEAH YEAH!!!!!!!!
Saying Slash is an Overrated Guitarist? Go listen to the riffs and solos he made. Some idiots say he is overrated because he can't SHRED good. Good shredder doesn't mean good guitarist.
BlueArpeggio531 Damn straight. Like I always say, I'd rather listen to a blues influenced ensemble wailer like Slash all day than endure even five minutes of a classically influenced solo-specialist shredder. They're brilliant, but boring beyond tears.
To me the very best players can do both as musically appropriate, and more.
theRealAV8r YES!!! Finally a well knowledged man!! May the god of "Everyday shall be awesome" bless you!
BlueArpeggio531 lol - thanks - I need it!
BlueArpeggio531 To be honest, I agree with you, I like the more bluesy type solos he uses cause of how it feels. But if you watch Anastasia live, you'll soon learn that Slash can shred his ass off! He just prefers the feel of the music, as apposed to showing off.
BlueArpeggio531 and the more old school guys mistake him for another 80's shredder with no soul while the shred obsessed ones think he lacks skill. Slash is actually one of the most unique soulful and expressive players out there
In 30 years, I think this is the first time I have heard his voice.
I expected him so sound very different like really raspy or something
i expected it to sound deeper like one of those interviews where they mask the person and blur them out and give them a concealed deep voice. lol
He has so beautiful voice
No in 30+ years I need to see his eyes.
Let's take an moment of silence for Slashes music teacher. For not letting him play bass
What
@@taint2684 did u not watch the video
Wby
He played 6 string bass on WTTJ
''no matter what obstacles or hurdles i ran into, i never accepted no for an answer and i just kept at it''
he's so inspirational
I wholeheartedly agree. Such an inspiration. Thank God he never quit!!!🙏❤️🖤🎶😂🙏💜🕊️
That's.. probably what led to him drugging his ex's mom.
Great guitarist. This dude is a legend, created some of the most memorable songs, solos, and riffs in my opinion. Along with being in one of the biggest bands of all time. Still glad that he is cranking out good music. Ready for the next album to come out
Hopefully the next one is a GnR record
Being a great guitar player isn’t about how fast you can shred, it’s about playing with feel and emotion that fits within a song. Something that Slash does very well.
Slash said that he wanted to follow his own path, be his own man. Everyone in L.A was trying to be EVH at the time. All the hair band guitarists were playing BC Riches with bright colours. Slash came out sounding different playing a REALLY cool guitar. When Sweet Child O one came on tv in Australia I was hooked. It was just Slash’s sound, it was the the sound and look of the band. They were different, they stood out from the pack. They had attitude.
I can't name any other guitarist who produced arguably the greatest collection of riff writing on his first record.
This advertisement was brought to you by Les Paul
I think he just loves them…
Yeah, but, everyone that plays guitar and knows Slash also knows that he plays Gibson's Les Paul...
Wout ???
And Marshall
Feel free to watch most of the other videos like this where the guy talks for 40 seconds about how hey started and then plugs their signature model for 5 minutes.
Man gets a 1 string guitar, doesn’t see that as an excuse not to play. God damn legend
Yeah, and he really inspired me. I've had motor skill issues all my life that prevented me playing straight chords (only recently discovered they are autism related). Still managed to write, arrange, and record over 20 tracks solo. Never went anywhere but I still put 6 of them on CZcams.
I admire Slash so much. What a legend.
In an alternate reality, Slash is a legendary bass player.
He speaks so eloquently… His words are poetic, like his guitar solos.
He has a nice voice.
Guys, he's just one of our parents...
South park reference nice man
Haha Southpark
Hahah South Park
I came here looking for someone to comment this
VOONTER SLASH
Guitarheads ragging on Slash ask yourself this: when your favorite shredder or obscure metal guy does his thing, will anyone know who it is?
Now when the first few chords of Sweet Child of Mine play, is there anyone on earth who doesn’t recognize that tune and have a memory associated with it?
That’s why Slash is one of the all time greats.
Two words: Satch Boogie.
That’s such an incredibly ignorant statement. Recognizability doesn’t inherently equal quality.
@@THEmeepmopmoop the gist is correct though. Guitar playing isn’t about who shreds the most. It’s about who evokes the most emotion with their playing. Slash has done that as good as any player in history. That’s why he is on the Mount Rushmore of guitarists.
@@THEmeepmopmoop Exactly
Yeah and everyone can recognize Justin Bieber’s voice. Wtf does fame have to do with talent?
After going on slashes instagram, I just can’t take the guy seriously lmao
he's a weird dude
Ik lmao
Hes himself. He doesnt pretend to be someone else or try to fit in. Appreciate it. Those are Gods people.
You’re just a pussy
John Phillips jr harsh words on a 2 year old comment buddy
Slash inspired me to play guitar. I have been a self taught guitarist from the beginning and I still am till this day.
Jesus don't care.
Petro_Stephanie He is the one who inspired me to start playing and to start teaching myself as well.
Adam Worthington what a coincidence!!!
Same here man. Slash is so cool
Me2
Slash, I FUCKN LOVE YOU
watches legendary guitar player for more than 7 mins, finds 0 second of him playing guitar :'(
I mean there's plenty of videos on here of him playing.. just go watch those.
guitarists: "bassists are just failed guitarists""
slash: is a failed bassist
hahaaa that's good one
Wrong, he’s not a failed bassist cause he never played it, he wanted to but never did. I mean come on why would anyone want to even play bass? Lol it’s just an ass version of guitar 😂
@@ayericky4903 Bass is pretty freaking cool though
2:15 WHAT EVERY FRIGGIN' GUITAR PLAYER NEEDS TO THINK ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AS A MUSICIAN, I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!

+SpinalAlloy but tony macalpine tho :(
Duane Allman is the perfect example of a player that mastered this!
True man."context"
Dear guitar center: WE WANT TO HEAR HIM PLAY
i love how he talks about the albums he 'bought.' i've been reading his autobiography and he literally stole everything he could get his hands on. haha!
Slash playes Sweet Child of Mine in Guitar Center.
The employees: Get out!
Sweet child o mine, november rain, dont cry, welcome to the jungle, paradise city and MANY more songs that contain legendary riffs and solos are evidence that slash is a top 10 guitarist of all time. Place him where you want in that top 10, but you cant deny the impact and legacy that is Slash.
Why don't we hear him playing on that damn guitar...
Agreed... agonisingly frustrating! Interesting interview though!
ShakespearesChin
Flo San for once peoples comments were a help..almost sat thru 7 minutes of the same stories...play that fucking guitar!! lol
I'm quite surprised that he didn't just solo the whole time. When I pick up a guitar, my first instinct is to play it. It would be just as frustrating to try not to play it as it is to watch him without playing it. Slash likes to play more than he does to talk. People need to let him play.
Isnt he terrified of public speaking? Or is that just crowds in general? I cant remember
If only there were dozens of albums were we could hear him play!
Badass! Slash you are my reason I picked up a guitar. I have been playing for 5 years now and I feel exactly the same way about a strat and a les Paul and love a good Gibson les Paul sound! Haha I love blues and a classic rock sound so when I want blues I will pick up a strat!
The first time I heard Appetite For Destruction all those years ago, I was utterly blown away. I can still remember calling all my buddies immediately after hearing GNR for the first time, saying I just listened to the best rock songs I’ve listened to in a decade-plus.
What a refreshingly articulate and passionate soul... thanks for sharing your thoughts, Slash.
Slash Is so amazing as a guitar player and a humble human being. There is something so warm and passionate about his playing that other players don't have.
7min video and he doesn't play it once...
Really. Not one note played.
Not a single note.
It's a chat about his inspiration n new album
A commercial that doesn't show any music... Great commercial...
+Boom FlexPlays heartbreaking isn't it
I just love how authentically nice and sweet Slash is as a human and musician
Hes top shelf
I wonder how long it takes him to decide which necklaces to put on in the morning?
Why just pick one?
Ethans Bass
i did say "necklaces" - plural ... so i guess he just puts them all on? Maybe he sleeps with them on? Discuss
gotcha. I'm sure he doesnt sleep with them on because theyd get tangled in his hair.
comdvr271 LOL
no time at all he wears them all lol
Imagine if Slash is bold and that hair is just a part of that hat
no
Bald?
And the nose comes off with the glasses

I dont know why but getting addicted to slash interviews
I've heard this story a hundred times and I still get kinda motivated every single time I hear it.
Guitar Center has some of the best interviews and music ever.... direct to the point.....
He is a freaking legend he was in LA and I didn't get to see him wtf! People may say hes overrated but what I love about his solos is that he doesn't play just to make it sound cool he plays with feeling. There is so much emotion in his guitar playing like he is speaking through it
What a well spoken and insightful guy! Great interview with a legend.
I think this is the best choice of slash his career does explain everything. To celebrities to rock n roll
my inspiration. I can always feel his heart and soul while playing. a passionate player. I look up to you slash

A truly legend I just bought a guitar after listen to him well we see how it goes!!!!!!!
I hope you fall in love with it. Just keep playing it gets easier
I think I can honestly say ive never heard slash talk for more than a couple words, he really just let’s his music talk and doesn’t let his ego get in the way I can respect that
My idol
You're marvelous outstanding guitarist. God bless you ❤️👍😊🎸🔥
I actually wanted to hear him play the epiphone lp, it'd be interesting to hear him play through a $200 guitar, a nice one for $200 too. (It wont compare to a Gibby but for $200 who gives a flying fuck what it compares to)
they do compare to a Gibby if you find the right one...
in the hands of an adept player, any guitar will sing.
Gaming Guitar Player his apetite for detruction was a cheap gibson replica made by his friend
Andrew Gamer it wasn't cheap. it was a hand made replica, made by a famous luthier to the exact spec of a 59. It was on par, if not better than a customs shop Les Paul.
I have that exact guitar and it plays just like a Gibby does, it all just depends on the guitarist
You are the first person who made me realized to learn and play a guitar. Thanks for keep inspiring me from the first day i held a guitar in my hands. Thanks Slash. Always love u man.
Slash is the main reason I play guitar...he is THE man as far as I'm concerned. 🤘
I love slash and his passion
Slash504
Much respect to you Slash. Love your music and I think you're one of the most talented guitarists in history. You're an inspiration to everyone and anyone who touches a guitar.
Seeing GNR live gave me a new appreciation for Slash. He played so well and so long, I kept waiting to see blood from his fingers. The sounds, variation of sounds and the effort, top notch!
Slash is the man he is a living legend 🙌
Can you imagine:
*Randy Rhoads at Guitar Center*
jesus i can imagine that perfectly
I chuckle when I think about someone asking Joe Satriani if Randy was an influence in his playing, and Satch responded, "Influence? If he were alive, we'd be contemporaries."
I absolutely LOVE my Slash ‘Appetite’ Les Paul, it has such a great tone, it is a real pleasure to play! Thanks Slash. 🎸🤘
Slash is amazing the things I have always loved about slash is he's very humble from what I've always noticed since 1990 always dresses simple, has passion and people say the doesn't shred well that means he actually plays the instrument, Clapton is extremely underrated Ive always thought as well
So, if Slash plays Sweet Child O Mine, will he get kicked out of Guitar Center?
...and rightly so...
Technically he'd be playing a riff he made. Like all of us playing our stuff in GC. So, it's a huge IDK
@@HALEdigitalARTS wrongly so
Slash is just a amazing guy
The way he explain why he love Les Paul guitar is inspiring. Key word, feels at home. Legend!
Slash is an absolute legend, his influences are all legends, whats not to like.
Wow, my grandfather gave me his old Spanish acoustic for my first guitar, cool to I have a similar story

Les is indeed more. Les Paul, that is.
lol
it's always that grandmother's gift when you're growing up! my grandma gave me my 1st car and i got into cars and car audio in that car. 24yrs later i'm still doing it
Love the solo at the end
Slash is a legend.. he play the "sleazy" and melodic guitar.. in a era were all guitar players wanted to copy Eddie Van Halen.. he bring the swing melodic back to rock in roll .. in a time full of Eddie van Halen wannabes..
GUITAR LEGEND, TOP FIVE GUITARIST OF ALL TIME
I love Guitar Center
Dude’s a living legend! One of the reasons I picked up a guitar in 1987 at the age of 11. Haven’t put it down since. Cheers Slash
"Strat" the elusive word to hear from Slash !!
Thanks again for all the stuff you have played
strat struck I need to see what you know
1986
2:15-2:23 the reason why slash has some of the best solos in terms of melody and context, and other guitarists seem not to amount to his fame, even if what they do seems more complex and challenging than what slash plays.
Slash isn't "Overrated". He is famous for a reason and I love his playing style because not only it's insanely soulful, but he's never been a poser that would just do some tapping, sweep picking shit to catch people's attention like the other guitarists of his prime
I could literally listen to Slash talk about guitars and music for hours.
Saw slash live 2013...dream come true!!!!
Slash rockin the murdered out Hublot Big Bang.
I've seen him with a Rolex Hulk as well.

The man paid his dues played 1000s of gigs. He has played with some of the best. Now he who has done this can hate! I'm glad he has been able to live a awsome life playing guitar. I play I'm ok but I work paycheck to paycheck I could hate but I recognize he made it. The road wasnt easy. So Slash heres to you Brother!
His speaking voice is so articulate and calming
People say Slash is overrated...As a guitar player he fits very well what his music calls for...You have blues players ,Jazz players, country players.....He plays very well for what he is trying to convey....Comparing is very foolish...lots of fine guitar players.....just enjoy what they do.....All guitarist have their special talents.....and admire each other...that’s what makes it so important...it doesn’t get stale...Jeff Beck plays very different from say Eric Clapton...Yet on the beano album Beck might not sound as good ...each guy does something special....
"my old band guns n roses" he acts like it was just another band of his not the biggest rock n roll band in the world
Biggest rock and roll band in the world? LMFAO Axle Rose is a fuckin' joke...
