    Blew your big end lol gutted mate, gives you the excuse to rebuild it, new or second hand engine casing and big end, maybe some shell bearings and hopefully good to go. Although it is tempting to fit new seals and pistons and their rings and possibly re-shim and new cams, looking forward to the rebuild :)

      Cheers buddy, yes was a lot of fun doing this project, next video will be published on friday at 6pm :) i didn't go crazy and buy everything as it was my first build and learning as I was going. If I was to do it again now, I would replace all :) welcome to the channel buddy

    As long as it runs and you don’t have any bits left over at the end it’s a result!

    Did it rod knock any before it let go? My r1 spun the bearing bad but the rod did not let go luckily.

    • @TheDonInLondon
      @TheDonInLondon  Před 5 lety

      It did and just before it went. You were lucky I had to replace lots of parts because of this.

    Hey brother. One question to see if you could help. Ive got my fz apart and being a idiot while i had the motor out i turn the positioning screw that opens and closes the secondary flies.after doing that i realized they probably have to be set . I know they are almost closed and open just a little bit in the off position but do you know exactly how to position that to stock positions. Also i just I have stock flies not modded :(. Would that be in the pdf manual file i was going to get off you?

    Props for taking the job on, if my FZ1 went I think I'll just scrap it the engine in this thing is tricky. Any clue on why the bolt might have went? I'm getting paranoid now lol

    • @TheDonInLondon
      @TheDonInLondon  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes was a big job but thought I'd give it a go. It was my oil and water pump which caused lots of damage but made my tensioner bolt fail. I should have stopped riding when i heard the first warning. Will explain more in another video :)

    I have to drop my motor from my 07 fz1 to get the frame re-welded because the weld broke on the right side ( common issue in 06-07). I am worried about pulling it off but your video inspires me and gives me hope. I only have to drop the motor to give him space to weld it and then reinstall the motor. Any tips?

    • @TheDonInLondon
      @TheDonInLondon  Před 4 lety

      Ahh didn't know about that issue... hasn't happened to mine yet. Yes for sure you can do it. Just take your time, remember where everything goes. Dropping the engine can be done in a day easily even with no experience. The biggest issue you will have is the exhaust head bolts as mine snapped but maybe you can leave them on if you just need to drop it a little. Good luck and keep me posted how you get on. Let me know if you get stuck and need any help

      @@TheDonInLondon thank you so much for the reply! And yes the 06 and early 07 models they say are the only ones that had the issue. The weld fails on the right side of the bike on the same weld in quite a few bikes now. I appreciate any help! Im starting it monday i beleive with a friend who is a mechanic. I have to say my biggest worry is remembering all the wiring and getting it all back togeather torqued to spec. Lol finding all those specs. I don't beleive i have a manual im not sure. Thanks again for the reply and offer to help any way you can. Your number 1 my friend. Ride safe and lets hope i can get this fz up and riding again. I will certinly update you. Also the wiring is very simple as they all have specific plugs which match. The only one you need to remember is which way the coils are plugged in. Good luck!!!
