Loved the meticulous use of words to describe dress code choices
The sun tan lotion part had me cracking up 😂 his track days have more action than some nightclubs
I had a front row seat for that buzzard as the right seat instructor... he came out of NOWHERE - swooped across just over the top of the wall. Novice driver was a stud - taking the hit straight on and coming to a safe stop off the track. We even got a courtesy ride in the ambulance after we brushed off the debris 😂
wow, Clinton! Imagine running into you on a YT comments page! Where ya been? Whatcha doin'? 🙂
I'm getting into trackdays and I really liked this episode. Pointing out common points of error on circuits all over America!
I met Mark at the NSXPO event in Atlanta this year. It is amazing what he has built Chin into. Plenty of great days and plenty of rough moments!
great to get to know you, Ed! Glad we could do this bit together. Thanks!
"... every track has a character."
Thompson Speedway's character is a 42 year old hammershnitzeled guy on a lawn mower 😂😂😂
YES! Did a 24hr lemons race there in 2021. One of the most “entertaining” layouts I’ve ever experienced. Only had one incident resulting in no contact but did manage to do a full 360 and at some point ended up perpendicular to a 4door Lincoln looking through his side window and the largest eyes I’ve ever seen!
@@kcspeed9980 that's AWESOME!! my brother and I have wanted to do a Lemon's
@@charliesschroedinger Do it! I’m the first to say WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE DOING! and we don’t have a huge budget. But if you split the cost between 4 guys it’s like $800 per person for the weekend, met a team with 12 drivers! Driving form 8-5 partying from 5-2. It’s awesome!
@kcspeed9980 soon as my brother's schedule allows!!!
Love your unique style, never change!
Hell yeah! Great to see Mark on the channel. I've run with MANY track day providers and Chin is top-shelf.
This man is the most track savy guest you have ever had.
Mark and Chin Track Days are truly the Gold Standard in HPDE.
*That intro clip lmao*
Good old vinwiki is back. These are the kinds of guests we like!!
i ran at road atlanta back in 2013 or 14 i think it was. a ctsv wagon completely blew t1 and rolled through the gravel. i didn't see it happen but i was in the paddock and saw it roll in on a flatbed, roof caved in, all the airbags blown. later in the day i saw the car DRIVE out if the paddock out onto the main road, smoke(dust? airbag powder?) billowing out of it. i HEARD (never confirmed) that it was a rental, so my guess is that it wasnt supposed to be on a track and the guy was gonna go park it in a ditch and claim the accident happened there. wasnt a chin event, it was mvp track time
He probably got arrested for insurance fraud, they definitely had gps in a rental ctsv
Have you ever had a bad day at a race track?
A bad day that ended good. Daytona July 2001, my son and I arrived early and grabbed a beer. I took one sip of mine and I collapsed. The EMTs arrived and put the heart monitor on me. My heart rate was 212 bpm. They took me to Halifax, but refused to let my son ride with me. Of all things, my son walked to the hospital. The ER doctor got my heart rate down to normal and discharged me. My son wanted me to wait there while he went back for the car. I told him No Way! I made him a promise and we're going back to the race. So, we walked back and it was a Historical night. The race was historical and the ass chewing I got from my "wife at the time" was way too historical!
Only day I ever had at one up in NH. Caught a wicked case of the STASNTAW's (S__t Through A Screen....Not Touch A Wire 😝😝) the morning of. Never made it. 😑😶
@@charliesschroedinger Ouch! That's a bad track day.
Yes, hit the wall, broke my bike in half and my back
@@AnomalousOne1401 oh there were tracks... just laid in my UU's. 🤣🤣
Thank you Bridgestone, great tires and supporting the car hobby.
so cool to see Mark on Vinwiki!
Never heard of Ferrari flying in parts for a customer at a track day. Horatio is doing things right.
Great stories
"BIRDSTRIKE, WE'VE GOT A BIRDSTRIKE, WE'RE GOIN' DOWN!"
I enjoyed the description of the misc accident prone turns. I know them all. I instruct for chin, guess I’m lucky my car isn’t classified as “ high hp” so never had my problems at those places. Big HP + hubris causes big cost crashes.
I had a similar buzzard incident, at 80mph on the freeway. The whole passenger side of the windscreen was destroyed, You couldn't see anything out that side. The driver's side had a very small area (about the size of a license plate) where I could see through the "stars". Fortunately, the bird fell out of the windscreen (I did get feathers inside) as I slowed. After limping along the breakdown lane, I was able to get off the freeway onto a 2 lane road. I drove the car home, about 4 miles, slowly. Fortunately, I didn't pass any police (although I did pass the police station!) who would have undoubtedly made me stop driving the obviously unsafe vehicle.
There looked to be a few still photos of motorsports ranch houston there. Not 100% but it looked very similar.
"The most expensive car that we have seen crashed...I will qualify that it wasn't a crash"
Yeah, he just wanted to tell that story.
Descriptions without photos?
HA! I have never crashed at Road Atlanta's turn 5. 🙂 NEVER! Now let's talk about 3, 6, 7 etc.
how does bro remember all of this
yeah, it's my job...😉
How many practice laps do drivers get before racing?
There is no racing with Chin Track Days, it's all essentially practice.
Wow...
Guy's been organizing track days since 18th century. That's some impressive shit...
I don't write the caption... it's 110,000 driver entries. Each of those entries is one track day for one driver, right? Over ~1200 track events in 25 yrs.
@@chintrackdaysmark566 All cool, but the caption says exactly this... Effin clickbait!
Shame that as he is describing these spots that are trouble pictures or video illustrating what he’s talking about couldn’t have been included. Heck how about just a pic of the corner itself.
If my cars cost millions id fly people parts too lol
Ferrari would yawn and say you shouldn’t have broken our car. You’d get the parts in a month if you’re lucky.
Damn daddy is very handsome!
you hit a what!?
I thought that this is the story of the Porsche hitting the Pagani.
wtf is the difference between driver right and right?
a spectator viewing the track has different orientation than the driver, mirror image. In motorsports, it is standard practice to describe conditions from driver's POV.
110,000 track days??? one track day every day 7 days a week is 301.9 years!!
110,000 total track day participants. Around ~1800 total days on track.
Moral of the story- do not track a car you care about !
Lmao "the axle broke and the wheel came off" buddy is it a 67 Chevelle with a straight axle, like yeah the wheel was off, yeah the Axle was broke
Obviously a ball joint failed and the knuckle came off lol
definitely not. stub axle sheared at the inner CV joint where it joins the transaxle. Turns out, I saw it in person... 😉
Who is Chin?
my partner is a man named Chin who founded the company in 1999. I got involved beginning in 2001.
.....
To do 110,000 track days you would have too go Monday to Sunday for 301 and a half years so nice try buddy😂
pay attention: it's 110,000 DRIVER ENTRIES. Over 1200 track days in 25 yrs.
This guy is awful.... 'The most expensive car we've seen crashed is a car that didn't even crash'.
