Lost in the desert... HELP!! | What cactus can I use to survive? | The end of Cookie's Cacti??

- Here I was on Christmas day, wandering around deep in the Sonoran desert admiring all the amazing native and non-native cactus all la-dee-da-dee-da when I suddenly realized that I had lost my way. I was running low on water and I had not packed any food... what was I going to do?? I must find shelter - will a Palo Verde tree do? I must find food - will a Ferocactus or Saguaro do? Somehow armed with a fully charged camera and my microphone ready to go we search for food amongst the flora but not so much the fauna - this is my harrowing tale of desert survival. Is this the end of Cookie's Cacti???

Thought I was watching Crime pays but botany does'nt, but then I realized there was no swearing!
Omg I'm laughing so hard at your comment. Then I tried to see if I can imitate CPBD out loud at home since I can take Cookie's judgement. Didn't go too well 😂😂😂
😆
You are hilarious haha 😅 love the intro, I mean the running around shadow haha
Happy new year Jenny and thank you for sharing your parents backyard 😊
Happy new year, Grace! We survived to tell this unbelievable story of desert survival 😂😂😂
I really like your parents' landscaping, not a blade of grass to be seen anywhere.
Pure desert! With some non-natives sprinkled in, but yes, no grass!
I about died laughing over the "all natural desert asphalt". Look. I shoveled seven inches of snow off everything today. Any desert video is better than no desert video, even if "deep in the Sonoran desert where you might could die" also features houses and paved roads. I'm OK with it.
😂😂😂 there's a lot of "all natural desert" stuff that I never knew were "all natural desert". The things we learn, huh? What part of the world/country are you at? I see all the news about snow in the northeast now. It's about to get cold in Arizona too.
I'm in rural south-central PA, USA. We got 7" of snow. I was happy to see some real Mammillaria grahamii in habitat, too. I got some of those to try growing at home in my most-recent Mesa Garden order, so it'll be exciting to see if they sprout.
Thank you loved this entertains video.
We lived to tell the world 😂
You must have been really hungry. Every cactus looked edible 😂. The random car noises 😂.
All natural desert car sounds! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Very nice opuntia macrocentra 😈🌵
Finally some Opuntia love! 💚💚💚
Love your parents place…a great lost in the desert tour lol
My parents appreciate your comment, Patti! They've been reading all your comments and then we talk about it 😂 We should get lost in deserts more often 😁
Love the video I have seen several things to eat
Thank goodness for the slow roasted rocks I didn't get to try 😂😂😂
Love this desert.
You have a lovely yard, Dad. Tell mom hahahaha
when you're lost in the desert, there's this certain kind of rock. If you squeeze it real hard, water will come out of it. but you have to squeeze it real hard with a twist. I think you have to twist clock-wise; its all in the wrist. It has something to do with the geometry of the Coriolis effect. You know like how the water twirls around one way when you flush your toilet. That's how you get the water out of the rock.
😂😂😂 thank you for this invaluable tip! And the details are super important. I would have accidentally squeezed the rock counterclockwise and that would have been the end of Cookie's Cacti. Thank you!
Keep your distance from slow roasting rocks
Thanks to the slow roasted rocks I am alive today to tell this harrowing story of desert survival
This reminded me as a kid playing for hours in the desert in our backyard wash in Tucson. The hill down into it was probably 100 ft down. We would go down and explore. We found tons of cactus and animals. One time we found a wild gourd and even a bee hive in the side of a hill 😆
I have many happy fond memories of childhood exploration. I grew up in Oregon so it was a lot of adventuring with the neighborhood kids down by the creek, playing with cattails and climbing trees.
@@cookiescactithat sounds epic!
@@HumanBean520 I miss it!
😅 Hahaha, almost 5 minutes without food...so funny and I loved your parents´place, landscaping respectful of desert species, so clever and sustainable😍!
Heeheeheehee, it's a daily struggle with that hunger LOL! My parents appreciate your comment!

That area reminds me of desert mountain, say hello to Bob parsons for me if so.
Do you know Bob? We're down in the southeast part of the valley.
I love your comment, that you are starving and haven't eaten in about 5 minutes. lol Your parents have a lovely home and yard. Do you give them some of your cactus to plant out there?
😂😂😂 it seems I may be constantly hungry! My parents appreciate your comment! (Both of them have been reading comments on this video 😁). I tried giving my parents some plants but the wildlife kept eating them! So far the agave, prickly pear, and aloe have done okay with chicken wire protecting them. But it's so difficult to prevent the bunnies and squirrels and other little critters from treating them as a meal 🐇🐿️
I assume the rings of stones around the plants is so they don’t hit them with the lawn mower!
I'm sure nature put them there for that purpose! 😂😂😂
What an amazing place to live, i live in a forest here in Denmark, but a private desert i would not mind, a lot less leaf litter in the fall ^^ Best regards
Instead of leaves, we get beans! Those desert trees grow beans like crazy and drop them all over the place! It's funny when I'm raking my front yard for beans rather than leaves 😂
@@cookiescacti Beans 🤣 I didnt realize that. Each fall i have like 50 cm of leaf litter all over my garden, and when spring comes it is all gone. it blows my mind ^^ Ecosystem is crazy like that.
If I remember correctly , When Beavis and Butt Head were lost in the desert they ate Lophophora williamsii to keep alive… I don’t think it went well tho
😂😂😂 I'm a child of the 80s, so MTV was very much a part of growing up. I haven't heard Beavis and Butthead in ages!
@@cookiescacti I’m totally digging your channel! Best of vibes sent your way !
@@shepardsinsequence I'm so glad you enjoy all my cactus stuff and shenanigans 😁
eat those bean trees. saw some dude eat a Echinocereus but he didn't seem to enjoy it. there's probably some free fruit somewhere.
eat the fruit. eat the fruit.
best episode so far. 😹😹😹
that trash bin has probably been there for the past ten thousand years.
yeah, i eat rocks.
that wind thingy was left by aliens!!
Do more trips in the desert, i never seen like that!
My mind is starting to roll around some other ideas I can do around town 😜
@@cookiescactiIm with you! I have seen many of your videos and i can say you know how to do it!
@@spacebirb4339 awww thank you so much!
