- I drove an hour out to the West Valley of Phoenix, AZ to meet with pottery artist Bill Lindsay of spines.n.clay. Bill specializes in hand made pottery for cactus and succulents which is where his journey began in the pottery art world. We spend the afternoon getting to know Bill as we tour his studio and see his pottery making process. Bill also treats us to a demo of how he builds his signature reptilian pot from scratch - it's a technique that he previously referred to as his trade secret but has since decided to share it with you, my Cookie's Cacti friends. Let's just say that the inspiration may have come from butter art! We also get to unload a fresh kiln with Bill - what an honor!
Bill talks about his journey to running his pottery business full-time and the hours of work and practice to perfect his craft with his meticulous attention to detail. Bill is now selling his pottery on Palmstreet (formerly known as Plantstory, which I still owe you all a giveaway - don't worry it will happen!). I'm so happy to learn that Bill's experience as a vendor on Palmstreet is consistent with my experience as a buyer - we're all obsessed with Palmstreet!

Jenny, you are the absolute best! Thanks so much for making the drive and spending your afternoon. Great video and editing! Hope to have you out again someday when I have a greenhouse.
Bill! Thank you for sharing your process with us! It was a treat to see how a block of clay can be transformed into something beautiful that can be a home to a beloved plant for many years. I hope you can rebuild your plant collection in the (near) future!
Bill, so fun to see how you create your beautiful pots. Each one a true piece of art. Love all of the pots I've purchased from you! Great video.

So cool..... You're so personal with people. Makes me feel like im there.
This is the best feedback I could get. The whole goal is for you all to feel like you're there with me. I'm so happy to read this!!
Great video!! So interesting to watch the process of Bill's "trade secret". I'm fortunate to own one of those pots along with several others. Love how organize Bill is. Appreciate your time in the videos you create. So informative and a wealth of knowledge.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this afternoon with Bill, Denise! It was so cool seeing his process and even more cool being able to share it with you all. I was so pleasantly surprised by how attentive he is to his customers, and the amount of detail he pays attention to!
Excellent video, Thank you!

40:00 someone is getting a new sticker as well! 😁. This is so cool, and he's in the west valley. Very nice video!!! I'm an artist as well, so I LOVE this video.
I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing Bill's process and setup! It's even better that you're an artist and can appreciate the work and talent. Bill was so unbelievably generous! I posted an unboxing video and it includes the stickers that he sent me this time 😁
I love that orange pot! This was a lot of fun. Again. 😊
That orange was something I have never seen! Truly something for everyone. I had a lot of fun making this one 😊
Bill seems to be really cool, generous guy. Great episode. Thank you for sharing. I've been making pots with tiles on the weekend for cacti. Someday, I'll try clay.
That's so cool that you're making pots out of tiles! That's so creative. Yes, Bill is a super kind and generous guy. I especially appreciate how much he pays attention to details.
@@cookiescacti When I retire and have more time, I'll get into clay for sure. 😊 Meanwhile, I made five more pots over Memorial Day weekend. It was fun making them: czcams.com/video/mmNEhPTLrcY/video.html
Interesting and strange at the same time! perfect combination!
The best combination!
Fab experience!! Love it
💚💚💚🙏🙏🙏 I'm so glad you enjoyed this one Cecilia! It was a fun one to make 😊
Awesome! Congrats on the gifted pot and shout out to Bill for his generosity, so kind of him to gift you with something tangible as well as the revelation of his method so so cool!
Gosh thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing this one. It was really cool seeing his process and being able to share it with you all
I have enjoyed watching all your content, I been here since early when you first started and it's really cool to see how you have evolved and continue to grow. Keep up the amazing work! I can't wait to finally get to one of the cactus and succulent society meetings and see what it's all about.
@@DesertsTreasureAZ when I get the comment notification in my email I can see your OG CZcams account name, Angel! I so appreciate your comment and your support from the beginning. This channel has literally been one huge learning curve! I just recently upgraded my computer and editing program, so with the camera upgrade, and wireless mics it's kind a crazy to think how this video channel has evolved. The end of May will mark 2 years of Cookie's Cacti on CZcams 💚 I will see you at a future CACSS meeting!
Kiln Bill cool cheers
Ha! That's a good one! Kiln Bill!
😂
What an interesting video to understand this process! I was working with polymer clay while watching. Not really up to Bill's quality, but I, too, have fun creating. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhhh what are you making, Nancy?
@cookiescacti I am enhancing purchased terra cotta planters with oven bake polymer clay. They are pretty and done well, though not at the artistic level of Bill. I need to check out the online sale site you discussed. Will try to catch one in June.
Great vid! I'm really into his pottery; nice to see where it comes from. lol, I'm also a Palm Street addict!
Omg you and me both. I agree with what Bill says in the video, that the one downside of Palmstreet is how addictive it is... Do you have some favorite sellers? I definitely do... Every time I see a notification on their live I get excited even if I'm just listening in
My latest purchases are from Maryosucculuents and Euphobia Greenhouse, and my favorite is Thorn Oasis. I like to just listen in, too; I find it relaxing to have on in the background.

Hope to get a few pots soon ❤
Yayy! Bill is so awesome! Getting to know him makes me appreciate his art and work that much more.
Hmmmm🤔🙄
Everything okay?
