BUT I'M NOT. My absolute favorite moment in Hogsfather. Showing Death is, by his very nature, incapable of being 'unfair', and thus making the holiday a better time for one small boy. I'm not a celebrating religious type, but that moment made my heart warmer.
yet he clearly doest have the understanding that require to be him. death here is kind and gentle. but it require more then that to be a figure of hope. after all death is a figure of doom and hopelessness
@@roiking2740 Nah, in the discworld death is a symbol of finality and harvest. He does his job as he should, he doesn't let anyone who's time has come live, but he tries to sooth them before they go for good.
I love the wholesome irony at the end of this. Albert seemed to crack a soft smile despite this going against Hogswatch tradition. Almost like he had that same hope that future Hogswatch holidays would be this giving to all the poor families, that gave him hope he would get that horse as a child. Deep scene.
To be honest he'd probably really appreciate it. The big thing I get off of Death in Discworld is that he's the ultimate civil servant who's in it for all the right reasons, but has missed out on so much that any break from it that doesn't involve him failing at his job is a welcome reprieve. That and is supremely unappreciated for his work. It wears down on the poor guy.
"You give people jam today, and they'll just sit there and eat it. But jam tomorrow, that'll keep them going forever." Yet another surprising bit of wisdom I missed the first time around...
"Well, that's life, isn't it?"
"But I am not."
Never has a phrase been so wholesome, yet so intimidating at the same time.

Crazyivan777 wasn’t the half expectation that the dog wouldn’t last in the stocking? Don’t reckon that would be very jolly.
@@alecLogan Its one night, its going to be okay.
Such a powerful line. Makes me tear up every time.
"no, 'cause you are a selfish little bugger, when you're only seven"
XD
I love it when he says "But I'm the Hogfather", you can tell in his tone of voice that he is really into the role of the Hogfather.

@@notapplicable6985 He saved the poor girl cuz “the best present is having a future”
Life is unfair. Death is not.
so true. and if death is the same death as from the hogfather then I look forward to meeting them at the right time
The character in this book perhaps
I like how Death can go from winey teenager to cold dark death god in zero seconds flat.
I love the wholesome irony at the end of this.

Deep scene.
One of my favorite scenes from Hogfather. Life may be unfair, but there's nothing more fair than Death.
See, if Death was depicting more like this in media, people wouldn't be so horrified by the concept.
Say what you will, Terry Pratchett wrote a better Nightmare Before Christmas than Tim Burton could ever dream of.
can i give DEATH a hug.....he looks all fluffy.

Life might be unfair, but Death is the equalizer
David Jason was the perfect Albert, can't imagine anyone else in the roll.
He’s also great as Rincewind.
@@thebluedragon07 i dislike their rincewind in color of magic. I just feel he isn't skinny enough and his hair stands up too well.
4:30 Feels like Death has just realised 'melancholy' technically fits that description.
"no cus your a selfish little bugger when your only 7" 😁 to true to true
Death's a pretty chill guy for his attempt to end the cycle of disappointment and make people happy...
cigarette paper. hes trying to roll one over the course of the whole film.
everytime he fails. :D
Until the end where he find out he don't like it.
He succeeds at one point but has to.throw it away cause they are in a store.
3:03 Is that a cameo of Sir Terry Pratchett himself?
Yep.
+germanvisitor2 he's in every discworld film going postal, hogfather and the colour of magic. not sure about the animated shows

I do hope Scruff wasn't stuffed into the stocking with the other presents...
I believe he was. I do hope someone wakes up and gets him out of there the poor thing.
Sir Terry! At 3:03.
and at the end too.
Chyba obejrzę jutro cały film jeszcze raz :}
love this scene :)
do Death and the Hogfather ever talk?
Yal Rathol if you consider the Hogfather grunting at Death as talking, then yes. Hahaha
@@dgrmn12345 he does have a human voice too.
Death isn't so bad you know.
what's he got stuck to his lip?
OriginalAkivara it’s a roleup paper people use to make cigarettes.
