Discworld Game Rincwind Death Pestilance War Famine Cards Scene Animation
Let me see if I can identify the games these four are playing. Pestilence is playing "Go Fish", Famine is playing "Clue", Death is playing "Blackjack", and War is playing "Mr. Bun the Baker".
And yet they somehow know exactly who's turn it is.
War is playing Happy Families, a game similar to Go Fish but played with a special deck rather than a standard one. Instead of collecting pairs or fours of numbers, the idea is to collect 4 members of a certain family. The cards that correspond to Mr. Bun the Baker are Mrs. Bun the Baker’s Wife, Master Bun the Baker’s Son and Miss Bun the Baker’s Daughter. There are other cards with the family members of other professions, each with a pun name.
Tbh, I'm pretty sure this stems from that one time Twoflower tried to teach the horsemen "Bridge" back during Color of Magic (or was it Light Fantastic?)
whose*
"Want me to kill him for you?"
"NO. NO POINT REALLY."
Pfft the fact that even Death knows better than to try killing Rincewind
Rincewind is like a BAD penny...
' It has sumthing 2 due w/ BUTTERFLIES... '
@@amandabartels7751 Or it might have something to do with the Uncertainty Principle. He's not sure, though.
@@willieoelkers5568 Yup, the uncertainty of living on a IMPOSSIBLE 🌎 a 1 out of 1000 Chance... Witch always seams to happen 9 out of 10 times. ✨
@@amandabartels7751 Nah, no one's ever heard of a 1 in 1000 chance coming up. Now, 1 in 1,000,000 will crop up 9 times out of 10.
"But I do appear to have got 21. And some spare cards."
So is that an epic-level bluff to convince someone "I didn't bust at Blackjack, I actually have the perfect hand"?
No, he's really just twisting words to make it sound like he didn't bust when he did...
It's found if you try to take the dragon-book from the library during scene 1 and taking it through L-Space. Since you are basically trying to alter time in such a weird way, they decided to simply not allow you to do it, so they block your way with this scene and you're forced back through L-Space and the book is automatically returned to its place.
Are you sure we're all playing the same game here?
ok the Mr Bun comment was brilliant, This is why I love Terry Pratchett and anything Discworld related
@Mar Vill Replying to a comment 6 years old probably won't get you too far. I believe the joke is that Mr. Bun the Baker is part of a British card game called Happy Families that's similar to go fish.
actually it might be because rincewind goes back in time and drops a cress sandwich in the primordial goo :P
Eheheheheheheee!
I never thought of famine as a woman
I hope you didn't think of it as a man either
Imagine if you could play cards with death. That wouldn't be much fun if he knows the outcome no?
Also unless he actually wants to, he is literally incapable of losing.
If anything the real fun comes in getting to know him during the gameplay. Like when he goes into a soliloquy during chess.
@@crimsondynamo615 He's actually not much for chess. He's existed since the start of Time, but he still can't remember how the little horsey piece moves.
@@willieoelkers5568 I also remember he doesn't like Cripple Mr. Onion either (this is what Death says to Granny Weatherwax).
He plays poker though.
@@willieoelkers5568 Death can't lose the game of life, no matter what you pick.
Even so, don't pick golf. He's got a mean swing.
This is fun, because philosophers says that if you travel back in time and kill a butterfly, it could alter the future. It could be that death talks about when he talks about "circumstances" leading to his incapability of killing the man...
or is at referance to Chaos theory... Butterflies of the amazon flapping around and eventually cause-ing miss Lisa bananahamock to slide off the road int o a ditch where she is rescued By a handsome stranger with No Condoms.
It's also a solution to one of the puzzles in game.
I think that was supposed to be a hint
Has anyone actually finished this game without the strategy guide? Its impossible! LMAO
Brilliant though. I remember every solution in the strategy guide.
Since my computer grashed I've been sad I can't play many games on my laptop(which I use for stuff instead of my big old pc) but I was delighted when I convinced my stepdad to get the ol' Discworld games on it for me (I'm not goo with technolgy...)
Mort?
Lol, from Death's left: War, Famine and *Pestilance*
Not Mort..
Paul Kidby portrays Famine as a man... or at least, not a girl, 'cause he's not really a person. He's freaky-looking, the way Paul draws him. I love it.
Naaaaaaah. One horseman and three pedestrians of the apocRalypse :)
I've not seen this! What on earth!
Must find!
Since when was Famine a girl?
I wonder what would happen if I killed a butterfly...
They're the Horsemen of the Apocalypse...
Is Rincewind poking out of L-space here?
@DeASplode Blast, you've cleaned me out!
Very nice.
Ahhh the wonders of L-Space!!
They are the riders of the apocolypse
Wow..i've never seen this segment..and I've beat the game a few times. How do you make it appear?
Sure, I'll try and get some time to get more Death\Discworld scenes.
Getting sound effects instead?
Would the butterfly effect even apply to Discworld?
interesting times!
that doesnt work. that doesnt work. that doesnt work. that doesnt work. that doesnt work. that doesnt work aaaaggghh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good
is that mort with the blonde hair next to death?
Altså
@carpathianforrest More like Guards! Guards! minus Vimes plus Rincewind
Unger.
@111eee222 Thats two no trumps!
I never got what that Mr bun the baker joke meant
Death is asked if he has a "Mr Bun the baker", but what they meant was, does he have the playing card "Mr Bun the Baker". Death doesn't understand this and thinks they meant the actual person called "Mr Bun" who is a baker...
So to that, Death says "No", only when his oven explodes next week...
Get it?
ah. never thought of it that way
touche
Is the woman Jane Leeves?
@thosegaysailors that's right
i'm trying so hard not to get this scene. i think my copy of the game is buggy as shit lmao maybe the emulator isn't doing it any favors
Is this a comp game?
