Her reason for this was because she was hiding from her abusive ex husband. She knew her ex husband would do anything to get custody of the boys, which is why she freaked out when that guy took a picture of her in the store. She knew he worked for her ex. “Rutabaga” was the code word she taught her sons, which means they need to run as soon as she says it. She noticed the guy in the green shirt was following her around the store so she called out “rutabaga”. Her and her boys started running to the car and she knocked over a shelf to slow the guy following them down. Which is why the security guard stopped her at the door. She told the guard the guy in the green shirt touched one of her kids and thats why they were running. So the guard stopped him at the door which allowed the family to get away. The guy at their house was a private investigator. That’s why she freaked out again saying “he can’t take the boys”, because she thought he worked for her ex as well. However, that’s not the case. The guy at her house was investigating a crime that had taken place at the house she was moved into. He found out the crime was caused by something paranormal and evil. Which is why he had the gasoline, he was going to burn the building, behind the house, to the ground. But when he got there and saw a family had moved in, he changed his mind. He ended up explaining to her what happened at the house and why he was really there. She didn’t believe him of course, but then strange things started happening and one of her sons began acting weird. It’s then shown that he found some old footage in the basement and was watching it. The footage showed the previous families that lived there. Each tape started out nice and normal, with the families being happy. But then things take a dark turn. The footage would then suddenly cut to the family being tied up to something like they were being sacrificed, while one of them is always missing. One of the children. So it’s then presumed that the children are recording the murder of their family. The children recording would then turn up missing after their “movie” is finished. But what’s strange is, the beginning of each tape (the happy bits) are always being recorded from a distance but not by any of the family members. Both of the boys watched the tapes but the oldest one was the one who started acting strange. The souls of the missing children (the ones that recorded the death of their families), started showing themselves to the boys. But because the oldest was the one who took the most interest in the tapes, they chose him to be the one to record the next one. Each of these kids were being controlled by something sinister (hence the name of the film, ‘Sinister 2’). The private investigator then started working with the mother on how to get rid of the evil. Meanwhile, the oldest son gathers with the souls of the undead kids to plot his “movie”. I won’t explain much more because it’s a very good movie, and I suggest watching it to find out what else happens. This is one of the reasons I want to have code words in my life. I could make a specific word a specific code, for example I could use raspberry for "Danger is near" or something of the sorts. This is when code words become really handy. Not to mention, when saying said code words you could avoid any aggressors from understanding what you're communicating with your friends/family.
I use a sesame Street character. Something about him being an invisible friend always appealed to me as a code word. Of course there's always the lovable grumpy guy, and his worm. So many to choose from.

For the people who dont understand: the 2 men arent stalkers nor killers. They are mediums/private investigators. So they saw a demon in her house and they tried to burn it with them outside. They did not have any evil intent to kill, nor destroy for not a right reason. He's also not a ghost or demon. They saw demons in her house.

True, but I think they emphasized making the process more evident for the movies sake, just to make the average person (that means no harm to anyone) be aware of their surroundings for other various reasons than just being stalked by an abusive ex husband in this movie. I mean, smex trafficking is a thing and it wouldn't surprise me if such a method is used prior to the attempt. To show the people in charge if the target is good quality, in terms of youth, beauty, frailness (to grab easily). The movie The sound of Freedom is based on some of those tactics. :(
i love this actress, she’s not really well known, but i think she did a great job in One Missed Call (2006) even tho the movie was a flop she still gave a good performance as well and this film, she’s like an underrated scream queen
This is sinister 2 (definitely recommend). Her husband was abusive so she fled with the boys and started squatting in that house. The guy at the grocery store obviously works for or with the husband, and the guy carrying the petrol cans is a cop from the first movie who found out about the house helping a writer for research. He was burning the house so no one will be able to live there which ends the curse the movies are based off, which is now ruined bc once they move to another house the boogie man is gunna get them (I won’t go into detail about why and how it works bc it’s a great movie you should watch it). Husband finds them and brings them back to their home again, so the curse was sped up.
When you tell run, it can be seen as someone stealing by an officer. But a code word make it seem less suspicious until the officer sees her, and it also helps her make a lie or such
I mean if he overheard her say run it might tip him off, but rutabaga in a grocery store, it would give even a few more precious seconds before he realized.

True, but I think they emphasized making the process more evident for the movies sake, just to make the average person (that means no harm to anyone) be aware of their surroundings for other various reasons than just being stalked by an abusive ex husband in this movie.
I mean, smex trafficking is a thing and it wouldn't surprise me if such a method is used prior to the attempt. To show the people in charge if the target is good quality, in terms of youth, beauty, frailness (to grab easily).
The movie The sound of Freedom is based on some of those tactics. :(
i love this actress, she’s not really well known, but i think she did a great job in One Missed Call (2006) even tho the movie was a flop she still gave a good performance as well and this film, she’s like an underrated scream queen

This is sinister 2 (definitely recommend). Her husband was abusive so she fled with the boys and started squatting in that house. The guy at the grocery store obviously works for or with the husband, and the guy carrying the petrol cans is a cop from the first movie who found out about the house helping a writer for research. He was burning the house so no one will be able to live there which ends the curse the movies are based off, which is now ruined bc once they move to another house the boogie man is gunna get them (I won’t go into detail about why and how it works bc it’s a great movie you should watch it). Husband finds them and brings them back to their home again, so the curse was sped up.

When you tell run, it can be seen as someone stealing by an officer. But a code word make it seem less suspicious until the officer sees her, and it also helps her make a lie or such
