I mean the Trash Talkers are the best. I reached out just asking for good vibes for the wife. They sent them and more always checking to see how we were doing. They didn't have to do it but they did showing their true character. Again thank you oh and to show how old I am. I remember Ernie Ladd wrestling Andre in the early 80s. I stopped watching in 2006 but my wrestling knowledge runs deep going to ECW arena religiously in the late 90s

W.A.S P. = "We are sexual perverts" is the acronym in this context. As a matter of fact on the very first wasp album it is etched Into the Dead Groove between the last song and the centerhub if you look very very carefully you can see it written there. Absolutely great band. I would love to request wasps "Love Machine"video,,,SUCH an 80s time capsule. Wasp were definitely straight from the hair scene, but they had a much heavier sound and went on to write songs with much more substance.

First off my condolences to Dan.
Talking about W.A.S.P.: They were never really a part of the hair metal movement even though they kinda looked like that. But their attitude and songwriting didn't really fit in (my opinion), most of the hair metal stuff was radio-friendly and appealing to non-metal fans. W.A.S.P. came more from the hard rock side, quite similar to Twisted Sister, and their attitude (at least in the first few years) was quite snotty, more like that of sex-driven maniacs who don't give a sh*t about fitting in. To realize that I recommend to try out songs like "Animal (Fuck like a Beast)", "L.O.V.E. Machine", or "Wild Child".
A few years later they became more that kind of band that you saw in this video here, a great rock band with powerful songs, lots of great ballads and a tremendous talent for songwriting. "The Idol", "Heaven's Hung In Black", "Hold On to My Heart" or "Trail of Tears" are great songs to check out from their later phase.
And I wanted to mention that I didn't quite get your Michael Jackson thoughts here... he hadn't anything to do with the transition of rock music during the 80s. Plus I think you confused 'Bad' with 'Billie Jean' (at least Smokey hummed the melody of 'Billie Jean'), both 'Billie Jean' and 'Beat It' were from '82, 'Bad' was from '87

W.A.S.P was and is not a typical hairband. They were never like Poison, Cinderella, Tigertailz and so on. They are going on tour next year. Celebrating 40 yeras as a band. When they came in 1984 with their first album they shocked the world. Their stage show was extreme. They will have the same stage show next year. I have no idea if they tour in USA but they will be invading Europe. In Sweden only they will do no less than 11 shows.
This is a great song from their album "The Headless Children". Condolences to Dan but the power of metal will lead anyone through hard times to better days.

The “white Anglo Saxon Protestant” descriptor has been used for decades to describe the subculture of rich, snobby white people in the US… the ones who had a shit ton of family wealth and kids who went to Ivy League schools. Generally looked at as more conservative, exclusive and closed minded. It’s a term used by sociologists/ anthropologists and people who study that shit. Not sure what that would have to do with the band though 🤷🏻‍♀️😆
Condolences to you, Mr. O’Donnell 😢💔

    • @dougnorris7280
      @dougnorris7280 Před 2 lety

Nothing about describing a culture or bunch of snobs, plenty of liberals are considered WASP. The acronym simply describes an American from Northern Britain of Protestant Christian faith. The Protestants and the Catholics in Britain we're at strong odds with one another, in some cases the Catholics would have them arrested or worse for heresy .......reasons why people leave one nation to another, majority of the reasons is to escape unjust prosecution. W.A.S.P where one of those persecuted.

Blackie was a very unique man. He used to be a professional baseball player. Screwed up his knee and then continued on with his music love n dream. He is considered an asshole by many. But he and Nikki Sixx used to be best friends. Nikki stole lots from Blackie. The famous starting his pants on fire. Blackie is a lyrical genius and can write great songs just like Nikki. Blackie just could Express himself better, being he had a good rock voice. Imo, anyways. This band will forever hold a special place in my heart n teenage years. Much respect W.A.S.P.!!!

''I have people constantly come up to me telling me that I have written their life. When I wrote the story, I thought it was a pretty good story, but I had no idea that many people felt like that.''- Blackie Lawless
There has been much speculation over the origin of the band's name, and if it stands for anything, since it is written as an acronym. Like Sean Barker & others Here In The Comments have Exclaimed. In an interview in the 1980s, the band claimed it stood for "We Are Sexual Perverts" or "We Are Sexual Prophets" It is not known whether this was a serious statement. It is believed by many that they said it for shock value. However, "We Are Sexual Perverts" is inscribed on the runoff vinyl of their debut album.

No it stands for "we are sexual perverse". Confirmed by Blackie himself in live in the raw.

My condolences to losing of a loved one 🙏✌🤟. As for the meaning behind W.A.S.P.... speculation of it is the Anglo-Saxon but on their first album I bought which was vinyl had it as We. Are. Sexual. Perverts. and their debut #1 ep track was (Animal) F#ck Like A Beast. Their stage shows were something of a sex horror act of half naked women tied up on racks and raw meat thrown out in the audience. After the tremendous heat they got during time of creation of the PMRC with Tipper Gore of banning and censoring explicit music WASP toned down their themed music and was no longer the "shock" metal they started out as. Many years later in an interview when asked about meaning of the name, which Blackie always avoid with a chuckle, finally stated, again with a chuckle, to make the name stand out more by capital letters and dots in between that no other band at that time has ever done that....until R.E.M. If possible guys must do Animal lol 🤘😎🤘

I heard (though it could have been from the anti-metal people in the 80s) that it meant "We Are Sexual Perverts". lol

W.A.S.P. doesn't mean anything. It was a deliberate choice to be provocative.

The band were horrible people in their concerts they got a 14 year old girl that was a run away they used to tie her up and whipped her till she was badly beaten and was bleeding some times till she passed out and they sexually abused her till one day she got away they got her addict to drugs. She is doing ok now, but still has the scars from the whipping all over her and the beating she is lucky to be alive.
