Unfortunately there are recent videos that are apparently edited. I noticed a few comments on a more recent release of Chainsaw Charlie that brought up it was changed so I didn't bother finishing the video.

"This song is a statement against heroin. If you've seen, someone inject themselves with a drug, it's not the most pleasant sight, especially if the addict still can't "catch" his vein. This is probably the first song, that we wrote for the album, along with 'War Cry', which in the end did not get on this record. The overall mood of this album began with 'Thunderhead'. This song helped to develop a general idea of power."

Part of the L.A metal scene in the 80's, W.A.S.P went the 'shock rock' route rather than be compared to the other hair metal bands at the time. They had a lot of attention from the P.M.R.C and were one of the first groups to have the 'parental advisory' stickers applied to their albums and singles. The acronym has not been confirmed by founder Blackie Lawless as far as I know, but in a song called '95 Nasty' on their 'live in the raw' album during a rant about said PMRC, Lawless states that they are accused that 'We Are Sexual Perverts' which at the time was also considered the acronym as well as the White Anglo one already mentioned in other comments. Thunderhead was from the then highly praised 'Headless children' album where the group focussed more on delivering solid music rather than using 'shock' (blood, raw meat and topless ladies) methods that had gained them the unfavourable attention in the past.
Wasn't 95 Nasty. It was 'Harder Faster'. Apologies. I'm old.
W.A.S.P. as well as many other rock/metal bands gave the P.M.R.C. the biggest middle finger.

I love that the first WASP song you react to is also one of my absolute favorites. Although to be fair, half of the Headless Children album is that good, and the other half isn't far behind :D
Also, you weren't that far off when you compared them to Iron Maiden before you listened, this song especially is very Maiden-esque.

I made a ‘headbangers ball’ playlist for myself on CZcams and most of those bands are on it 😊👍🏽 I even found those little musical interludes they’d play when they were going into/ coming back from commercials, I put those in too so it really feels like I’m back in the 80s watching the ball 😆

The The Headless Children album is amazing completely. Frankie Banalie ex Drummer of Quiet Riot recording in this excellent album 1989.

Smokey's been the equivalent of around the world 80 times. That's impressive and I do believe it to be possible. I work at a truck stop and I meet drivers all the time who have been driving for over 40 years and I've heard them estimate many millions of miles and they keep track of all their miles so it's probably pretty accurate.
W.A.S.P. was one of my favorite 80s bands! One of my gateway bands that led me to Slayer and Pantera.

W.A.S.P. was first used for white anglo saxon protestant and that was the play on the acronym for this band, it meant whatever folks wanted it to mean really

Remember buying this album back in 1988 when it was released. The Heretic was the first song on this great album and it blow me away. Had been a fan since the first album in 1984 and since that first one W.A.S.P had been facing a lot of shit from the "grown up world". Suddenly with this album they were bringing up some serious issues and suddenly got a lot of good feedback. Great band that I last saw live summer 2019. First time was in 1984. Have been a great ride.

The name Thundrhead refers to a heroin addict and the sensation that it produces in his head when he injects himself (like it explodes or something like that) he talks to him about death represented in addiction, tells him that there will be no way out and demands fidelity from him absolute, even so Thunderhead blindly promises him fidelity forever, for being lost in drugs.
And a grand applaud to the late Frankie Benali for his drumming on this cd...R.I.P.

I following W.A.S.P. since their beginning, but this album (the headless children) is their best album ever with the best line up. And the drummer is Frankie Banalie on this album just died in august this year (r.i.p.) The song is going about somebody with a drug addict.

I picked up an owl that had been struck by a car to my amazement he was fine I pulled my car over blocking traffic so someone wouldn’t finish the job and actually run him over.
