I went to the doctor yesterday and got a reading of 182/74. I could feel that my BP was high. I was given meds and told to take my BP at home, morning and night, over the weekend. I’ve been doing so and the BP was reading on average about 152/77 (less nervous at home). I found this video and tried the breathing exercise. First without the breathing 162/82. Then I started the 6 breaths exercise. Within one minute: 129/69, 118/71 and the last one was 113/75. Amazing stuff.
Blood pressure change is amazing isn't it and so fast to change .weldone😊
Thank God For Everything ❤
Doctors are too quick in almost forcing you to use meds, without giving you a chance to change certain habits. Good thing you followed the video advice, and save yourself a life of unnecessary meds
@@amirsanchez8193 I am over 65, and amusingly, up until 2017, the acceptable BP for someone my age was 150/80. Overnight, in 2017, they reduced this to 120/80, regardless of age. They did the same thing with cholesterol, reducing the ‘acceptable’ level overnight, which, of course, created MILLIONS of new big pharma ‘patients’.
Thank you for sharing!
Just found you today. I used to be a CA! So I have immense respect for chiropractors. They truly care about your health!
My bp was 179/107 during anxiety attack. By deep breathing it went down to 122/66 in 5 minutes. Anxiety and panic attacks suck.
At least you found something that works for your body
It is the absolute worst 😢
Wow. Your BP testimony is impressive.
I just tried the 2nd method, the breathing method, within the space of about 10 minutes it reduced my pulse from 105 back to 82! I will continue to do this throughout the day now, absolutely brilliant, cannot thank you enough! Cheers from Australia
Yes, I tried it too. This breathing method works wayyy better than the other youtubers stuff out there.
Well its the bloodpressure not the pulse this was about
Me too tried and lowered the pulse n BP
It takes weeks to see a noticable difference to your blood pressure using deep breathing exercises. It's super effective if you stick with it.
Initially, 143/83 but instantly reduced to 128/80 after the 2 activities
Thank you, Dr. Story. Simple & easy way of breathing. What a way to simplify life.
Hi Adam watching your show from UK, I love how you talk, and tell us all the right information as Doctors don't tell us anything
His voice is so soothing,… I’m sure just listening will bring our BP to Normal ☺️
I get nervous before doctors appointments , I try to do breathing techniques before I go in but when they take it I just start getting nervous again. Anyone else can relate or have any tips?
I think it’s called ‘white coat syndrome’ and it is quite common. Most doctors are aware of it so the best is probably to be honest with them about it…. If the doctor knows that you are nervous at the time of the test, they can adjust their interpretation of the results if needed.
Another advice could also be to test yourself regularly with a home device, so you would feel psychologically better prepared for the real test (and the possible outcome).
I take my own blood pressure and I write it down on a tablet, and I give it to them, then I tell them this is my blood pressure.
Take your own at home. I do this also as every doc visit they panic and tell me im hypertensive. This now fuels my fear of BP results. I recently had an endoscopy and was very stressed, not about the procedure, but about what my BP result will be and how will they react. As expected it was very high. But when i was home that evening relaxing in front of the tv i checked my own and got great numbers. So frustrating.
I WENT TO THE DOCTORS YESTERDAY AND I IMMEDIATELY GOT ANXIETY AND PANICKING SHE TOOK MY PRESSURE IT WAS 170/102 THAT WAS WITH THE BLOOD PRESSURE MACHINE...THEN MY DOCTOR DID IT WITH THE MANAUL CUFF IT WENT DOWN TO 147/90 STILL SUPER HIGH ...THEN AFTER I GOT HOME AND TOOK IT IT WAS 113/ 76 IM JUST NOT GOING TO THE DOCTORS UNLESS I HAVE TO POINT BLANK...MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS ONLY HIGH AS HELLLLLLL AT ANY DOCTORS OFFICE...MY PULSE AND BLOOD PRESSURE IMMEDIATELY GOES UP JUST THE THOUGHT OF GETTING IT TAKEN AT THE DOCTORS OFFICE
Same with me , please help
Thanks, Doc. I subscribed. I like your simple and natural style.
Yes, I watched it all but I'm kind of new all this. I finally found the link just by clicking your name. I didn't see it in the comments section and I just watched the whole thing. Thank you!
This is excellent advice, I've done these every day since seeing other videos of yours, and they really help. Thank you Dr. Story.
At 72 I decided to find myself a doctor. Wasn't easy. Found a "move in" that was building a practice. She's put me through every test Medicare pays for.
First rattle out of the box was scrips for BP meds and statins. I started keeping track of my BP twice a day. I'm consistently below 130 over 60s. I've said no to the meds. I do a healthier diet and a little exercise now.
Last time I was in, she said "It's been 6 months. We need to schedule you for another colonoscopy." I hope she didn't take offense when I laughed in her face.
We live in Florida, the traffic is horrendous. Sometimes when I arrive at my doctor’s my blood pressure is high. I told her to take it again when I got ready to leave. I do some deep breathing while she is talking to me andIto her. At leaving, she again takes my blood pressure and its normal. Breathe, people breathe and relax your body. It works every time.
I was at my doctors yesterday my BP was high the nurse was telling me about the breathing technique I was 152/101 after she showed me the breathing exercises my BP dropped 125/75
What was the exercise?
@@edithhatch2096 I did the breathing exercise just like in the video
@@edithhatch2096 box breathing..
And try peeing before you go in to see the doc. Tends to lower BP.
Thank you so much Dr. Story for this informative video! Much appreciated!
I wish I had this advice 15 years ago when HBP started, now I’m 59 and following your advice my blood pressure is better than it has been in a very long time. At the time my Dr put me on meds and sent me on my way………..did not give any advice life style changes to help me!! I have had to find all the natural solutions myself, however your channel is by far the best advice I’ve ever found!!!
Thank you so much!!!
Good grief I could have written your comment verbatim!! my blood pressure started getting lower and lower so I just cut my pill in half and I am ready to go off completely. I didn’t tell my doctor because he would just get angry. I’m 70 years old and this is the first Rx pill I’ve ever had to take And hopefully it will be the last
I also take natural supplements for it and use Resperate
Do you find the Resparate works well. I’ve investigated it a couple times but have never tried it.
Yes I find it to be very useful. It does need to be done every day and I fall short on that sometimes. My holistic doctor makes it clear though that you have to have diet and exercise which I'm not doing very well on that and I also take carditone and other supplements. I'm not giving any advice since I'm not a doctor. I'm just telling you what I've been doing. I really think it's a combination of things but I think the machine is well worth the money. I was able to get it and make payments@@user-lb5pg5zm3g
Same! They prescribe medication but give no advice on what else to do
Hello sir, thank you so much , l have been following you from Ghana , God bless you so much
I have done this breathing exercise and it does work.
Also, when you go into the doctors office and they use that electric blood pressure cuff; it always raises your blood pressure higher then it really is. Request the nurse get the old cuff and pump it up herself. Get a blood pressure meter for home and check it daily. When I go into the office my blood pressure always reads higher in the office then at home. I had my home devise checked and it is correct. Some blood pressure medicine can also raise your blood pressure.... be aware of this.. Find out what your medicine takes out of the body and talk with your doctor and replace it if possible. Statins block your Coq10 and your heart is full of this to stay healthy. The Coq10 supplement many doctors recommend to patients when taking Statins. The New England Journal of Medicine stated that Patients need to be proactive in there health. We need to research and work with the doctor to make the best decisions for our optimal health. If you find yourself with a professional doctor they will look at your research. If they will not look at your research... you need to fire them and move on. It is very unprofessional for a doctor to not listen to a patient. God bless.
Be careful with co enzyme Q10. The las 2 years after exercise if I worked in the garden I would get a red flag situation. Breaking into sweat. And blood pressure going lower 90 over 55. With out it I was fine. Except after sleeping 170 over 100. Sometimes you are damed if you do and damed if you dont. There are many reasons. An besides retaining salt. Hormones can be out of tune. To find it you must chase it. Keep patterns the same. Dont eat margarine. Or butter. Eat Avacado on bread . Only a desert spoonful a day.
At home my blood pressure is normal 120/75,but at the doctors office it is always high 170.100. I dont know why.
Yes, your right about the machines. A NP at my last doctor's office refused to use them. I always got an accurate reading once in the office with her. The machine was way higher.
@@QuyNguyen-lm1gq your BP is high at the doctors is called the white coat syndrome
@@edwardwaldron7813 thank you!
Thanks again DR for your advice as it's helpful to me.
Very simple, easily implementable solutions… Thank you👏👏👏
Thank you for the great advice. God bless you ❤
From the UK:
Had a Doctor's appointment Monday. Had cycled 5-miles to get to the hospital and then climbed four flights of stairs. I hadn't been in Reception more than 20-seconds before the nurse took my BP. My arm wasn't supported and was just hanging down. The reading was 175/92. Within 60 seconds the SYS had dropped over 20 points. They should have waited 5-10 minutes before taking the BP reading. Anyhow, because of those temporarily high readings the doctor prescribed yet more BP tablets and statins. And yet every reading I've taken since is around 118/72. That's crazy healthcare. I won't be taking the new meds - at least until it shoots up consistently.
Gps in Uk are arrogant, rude and dismissive , their diagnoses for everything is " its all on ur head" or" its just normal"
Thats crazy that they would do that. But I guess they are always in a hurry and don't have time for people to just sit for 20 minutes and relax and let thier pb lower natyrally.
Thank you, Dr. story! I have experienced high blood pressure for the first time in the last few days. It’s been very scary to me with the most common readings being in the range of 188/115. I have an appointment with my primary care physician this morning and I really didn’t want to go on medication but felt like it was the only option. I was fortunate to find your video and I did both exercises you suggested for about six minutes and had the first normal reading that I’ve had in three days 127/75. Thank you for giving me hope that there’s things I can do personally to influence my healing 🙏💙
Wonderful information
I've been through quite a journey oh it's too long to tell you but I just had heart surgery in November but my blood pressure is the main thing that is been a problem all along and it just wouldn't go down with all these medicines they had me on and they did the surgery and I had to stay on the medicines for a few months They just took me off the main medicine that was holding my heart rate down that they arrhythmia I come from from a shot I got at the back doctor that causes arrhythmias but long story short My blood pressure remains high and these breathing exercises I saw him on here one night and they have work for me I take now I take hydrochlorothiazide which is a water pill but it's for blood pressure as well and of course I'm taking magnesium and other things that I think might help but yeah the breathing exercises they don't keep it down They get it down for my doctor's appointment but they don't keep it down so the hydrochlorothiazide gets it down and then if I go to the doctor and it's high she told me the other day you're good you're good I hadn't even been breathing and she said you're 132 over 88 so it was that was probably from the hydrochlorazide It gets it down where you can at least work with it but sometimes mine is really high and I can sit and do it and it brings it down around 20 points in the morning when it's already high and I haven't had anything to get it down
If I could walk around breathing like that all day I can keep it down but I am a very shallow breather when I talk I hold my breath so I keep my blood pressure up that one time years ago a nurse realized I was holding my breath when I was talking She said she screamed at me breathe look at she said look at the monitor and breathe
You just got one subscriber and shares. You were brief and direct.
Fantastic remedies doc your advice is noteworthy
Thank you for your advice and thank you for getting straight to the point, rather than some that never seem to. 👍
The fact that we get free videos on CZcams by Adam is truly a gift ... Keeping education and knowledge alive. 👍👍👍
I’ve been keeping my blood pressure low through breathing for close to 40 years. I learned how to do it when I was in my late teens and so I’ve just always done it. Always insist on a stethoscope reading don’t let them use the automated machine on you. They do not get accurate readings and you can end up medication you don’t need. also eat celery celery won’t give you low blood pressure, but it will lower high blood pressure. This works starts slow because if you’re on blood pressure medication and you have too much celery, it can lower it too much.
Can you please explain why the manual/stethoscope monitor is more accurate than automatic monitor?
@@agathar7115 you hear the beats; the machines can offer 3 different bp one right after another
DEEP BREATHING REALLY WORKS THANKS DOC !
My BP earlier today was 144/89 and after trying the breathing exercise for a few minutes, it dropped to 127/92. After lunch is spiked to over 150, but doing the exercises it dropped to 132/87. A bit of bouncing back and forth but I'm hooked on the breathing. Think I'll text my doctor with some good news! Thank you!
I discovered the breathing exercise by myself some time ago and it does work. It also helps me to get to sleep at night, which in itself is a stress reliever.
Did not know until quite recently about isometric exercises and have begun doing that too.
You're awesome, Dr Mandela doesn't charge anything for all his information.❤
Thanks I started watching you and I tried the breathing it works. I’m trying to get off my meds thanks
Thanks for the breathing technique...it really helps with anxiety related to blood pressure readings...😊
Dr. Story, thank you so much for your wealth of information and knowledge about blood pressure. I will be trying out your tips to see if they work.
Those tipo work.
Thank you very much for posting 🙏🕊️
I did this by accident while waiting to get my checkup at the VA. I did what you said with the breathing and my blood pressure was great. I will try the squeeze technique with the breathing next time.
I was able to lower my blood pressure by following and sticking to a ketogenic diet. As a result I am now off of both Lisinopril and Metoprolol.
@@josie1130 I’m also off 90% of my diabetes medication and lost close to 60 pounds as well. The first two weeks were a little bit rough as the body adapts to the reduction of sugars and carbohydrates. After that point in time all of my cravings have disappeared and I don’t get hungry anymore.
I’m on those same 2 meds ( almost 20 years now) and have always been slim, fit and eaten healthy. Unfortunately, I’ve never handled stress well and feel internalizing stress and not learning coping/ relaxation methods early in life can also cause HBP over time.
Lower your carb intake will lower your insulin level and thus you blood pressure. I also fixed my BP on keto
I’m on the same with Metoprolol and Losarton my Dr nurse told me about the breathing exercises yesterday I was amazed how my BP dropped I hope to be off my meds this year
@@robertbyers8035I just started low carb I've tried everything else, and I mean Everything, so no more bread pass 10 days, my insulin dropped, no more frequent peeing so I know it's working 🤞🏽
I tried it, and it works! Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome!
Same here for me, works great! Your natural breathing methods suit me perfectly. Too many rules how to breathe by many people. I just stumbled on this today, I tried it , my pressure, stress and anxiety disappeared. Will try 5 to 10 mins twice a day! Thank you!
You are such a blessing DR🙏🏿
These are things your regular DR do not tell you, all they want is to put you on meds😡
Sometimes they don't know.

Chronic Pain, I Asked The Nurse If That Counted??? RELUCTANTLY She Said Yes! I Am Still Asking For HELP!

Welcome!
Thank you Dr for sharing this message
Thankyou, really good practical advice!
I wish my md would have let me do natural treatments first instead of rushing me onto BP meds. It took forever to find a BP med I could even tolerate. I’m now following these guidelines and thank you for your advice.
Interesting. Any idea how the hand gripping mechanism works? I know there's a link between hand grip strength and longevity or overall wellbeing and well.
OMG am I shocked. After I watched this video I gave what you said a try. I didn't do what you said for the recommended times because I was excited to find out if it worked at all. Yep, it worked. My BP came down 10 points (diastolic) and I'm sure it will probably come down more if I do these methods properly.
Mil gracias por esta valiosa información, fácil hacer los ejercicios señalados.
Saludos.
I usually do second method and I can really say, it does work.
Thank you Steve Martin.
So glad you said this about the breathing exercises, do what works best for us! Thank you Dr.😊
You are so welcome!
@AdamJStoryDC I honestly hope this helps my blood pressure its 160/ 75 that's after taking 20mg Olmesartan and Metoprolol twice a day. I have COPD and right side heart failure 💔. I might be expecting too much, but I'm willing, as you take the time and effort to help people. Thankyou kindly ☺️
Thank you doctor!
I’m definitely going to recommend this video with these amazing techniques. Our doctor would rather throw some medicine at us instead of suggesting something like what you are doing! Thank you for your time and for sharing this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Thankyou for this video. My BP was 150/87, just did 5 mins for deep breathing, then my bp reading as come down to 141/83. Will start doing this and life style changes regularly to reduce the BP further.
Breathing method works!🎉Thank you ❤
For the Squeeze method, squeeze once nonstop in two minutes and the release two minutes, or squeeze release squeeze release constantly for 2 minutes and then release and rest for 2 minutes and doing these for 4 cycles? Should I do both hands or just one hand?
I had high BP for years. I’m not a huge guy. As high as 200/120. Meds and cutting salt got it to the 140s/100s. Cutting processed sugar was what worked and got it to normal. Big medicine really doesn’t even mention process sugar but it was huge for me.
One of my older cousins told my mum about sugar years ago, but my mum's an addict, sadly.
Wow congratulations. Please how do I get of meds?
That's great, I was poorly given given medication
@@misschin99don't you worry we all are addicted to it .😉
Yes process food that contains lots of sugar and salt we should reduce the intake as much as possible and combined with your meds , if you are on them already it should help a little more.

OMG, this did work . Mine was 137 /104 , after breathing 115/96.
