  • What's that smell? We discuss the ins and the outs of Bond fragrances including how to apply, how to shop for, what not to do, and a review of MANY of the Bond fragrances available to us. We cover the movies, the Bond girls, literary Bond and even Daniel Craig's influences....
A slight correction to the vlog: Bottom notes are actually base notes and are the notes that are the last to develop. These scents are often the bolder notes of the scent which become more noticeable later in the day. Base notes lay the foundation and will determine how long the fragrance lasts on your skin. They tend to last from 5 to 10 hours. Typical base notes are sandalwood, moss, vetiver, vanilla, tar, leather, smoke, tobacco, and musk.

I have to say as a fragrance reviewer I was so impressed with your video. You certainly did your homework on the fragrances and the olfactory world. Bravo. I linked this video on my most recent review and gave you a shout-out when I talked about Floris No.89 in my review. So here is hoping some of my subscribers will find your amazing channel and enjoy it as much as I have over the past few years. Cheers David from another Bond fan.

I understand that Floris is very happy with the "Bond connection" however, the fable that Bond wears Floris no 89 was created by GQ in 1996 and has been repeated over and over again by other people. Floris might want to send a thank you letter to GQ because a lot of Bond collectors have a bottle of No.89 on their shelves as being ‘Bond’s choice’. However, nowhere in the books does Fleming mention this. Moreover, in From Russia With Love Tatiana grumbles that British men don’t wear colognes. Bond retorts: “We wash”. All in all, this is one of those things that are accepted as truth because it has been repeated over and over again. I'm glad you didn't make the same mistake.

    • @T3L3cast3r
      @T3L3cast3r Před 5 lety

Yes, there is a Bond connection, I am not denying that, Floris Limes Bath Essence is in the bathroom of Dr No's "mink-lined prison", for instance. What I am saying is that a lot of times people insist that Fleming wrote that Bond wears Floris no 89. And that is just not true. I also compliment David on not making that same mistake so I really don't see the point of your comment.....

@@pumpkin91ful exactly. Eucris by Geo F Trumper was what Sean Connery wore in his Bond movies. Not sure if that brand was shown in one of his Bond movies but I heard this mentioned before. As much as I wanted toTRY out the Floris .007 version, it's way too costly imo just to have a fragrance that is basically a made up fantasy fable from movies as to what "they think" Bond might have worn. LOL. Sort of silly imho. I don't think any spy like Bond would be wearing much of any fragrances unless he's off the job going on a date. Really this is all very silly imho. What's next? Only thing you forgot to mention that in novel From Russia With Love Tatiana ask Bond why Englishmen dont wear cologne, he replies that they wash. Actually you can spray on the frontal sides of your neck because they are pulse points. That's the only issue I have about this video but everything else I agree, such as, don't spray on clothing, DON'T PUT TOO MUCH! cuz it has to be discovered and not announced, 2 to 3 sprays on your pulse points (with eau de toilette and eau de perfum), etc.
To be honest I like to smell good and different, and as a fan of JB, the James Bond 007 colognes are very good. I've tried the blue, the black, the silver and gold edition; all of them smell GREAT! They smell elegant and manly. They have the essense of Bond. I know a lot of people who are crazy about Invictus cologne or Aqua Di Gio (Black) for example, and even if I like so much those colognes, I don't like to smell the same as everyone, so that's another reason why I use 007 colognes. I've recieved compliments with them. You're gonna smell elegant, manly and different. I recommend them to anyone who wants the same ;) Grat video David!

Bergamot is a wonderful scent, and it comes from a type of bitter orange. Have you ever had Earl Grey tea? That's probably the most common place to find bergamot. I know tea isn't part of the Bond lifestyle, but it's a large part of mine. Bergamot is also very common in summer fragrances, and I love it in Floris' Bergamotto di Positano. Tom Ford also has the excellent Venetian Bergamot fragrance.

Once the Taylors of Old Bond Street Jermyn St was identified and I picked up a bottle, I never went back! Jermyn St is a fantastic, subtle, masculine scent. i do prefer creed fragrances, but they have the worst quality control, batch variations, and too many of them areso weak that it hurts inside when you need lots of sprays.
so i switched over to tom ford.
still very expensive, but with these fragrances, you need 1or 2 sprays and youre good to go.
i wear grey vetiver daily, and oud wood when i dress up.
i love tobacco vanille, but i personally find it good only when dressed up in a dark suit in the winter. other than that, and it smells a bit off. still good, but i dont feel it matches most occations. might get away with it on a cool summer night in a polo tho.
ive also considered getting a full bottle of tuscan leather, but some people hate it on me while some love it. and ombre leather smells too feminine in the drydown.
grey vetiver is a boring fragrance, but its fresh and manly, and i dont get sick of it.
and while i find oud wood a bit boring, its qute versatile, whie being that little extra

Two people know how Vesper smells: James Bond (Me of course!) and David from the Bond Experience. CREEPY, but smells great!

I only purchased Floris after reading it in Diamonds. I would love to get my hands on a lot of the other ones. Is the Tom Ford really 300/$?

Dear, don’t forget Roger Moore s scene where he kills a snake using a deodorant (green bottle). My favorite bond movie, Live and Let Die.

This idea is neat of a what maybe a James Bond type character would have worn. But for $300+ no way. For a made up fantasy fable movie? What's next? The brand that Indiana Jones would wear? Or maybe THE FONZ from Happy Days? LOL C'Mon people this all is sort of silly. Total SILLY RUSE to make $$$$. But I get it. It's all in good fun and I'm sure they are probably some super great "what if" Bond fragrances out there.

I have never seen a vid where a reviewer was as ignorant about scents as you. 'What is a bergamot ?' PMSL ! Bergamot is only used in about 90% of fragrances.
