    One of or even maybe the best yourtuber PPL instructor I’ve come across so far. Great work Lewis 🙌🏻 “welcome to the sky” & keep it real.

    This is awesome. My second lesson is in a few days, and I’ll be doing these maneuvers. I’m flying a Piper PA28 Warrior, so this is especially helpful

    Thanks Lew. I just did my biennial flight review last Wednesday evening and we did those two and a few more. I hadn't done S turns across a road in years and still was fairly proficient. Steep turns also. Thanks again!

      Alan Waggoner It's amazing how in 2 years the maneuvers become almost foreign because you don't practice them too often. I've given flight reviews where people forget how to do them! Glad you enjoyed it

    The PA-28 is a very good spinning aircraft which can teach you a lot about the Piper range of aircraft. I know the FAA doesn't approve spinning in a PA-28 but many other countries in the world teach spinning in the PA28 as part of a CPL flight test. The PA28 is prone to high-speed stalling in steep turns and spinning. A great aircraft all round especially on agriculture short strips and bush strips.

    Thank you!! I’ve been having issues with my slow flight, power off and on stalls. After repeatedly watching your video, I feel a lot more confident.

    What do you use to capture the audio during the flight? I don't see any wire connected to the cameras. Are you using the speaker from the airplane? Thanks for sharing.

    Omg that was so laid back. I did slow flight yesterday and it creeped.me.out.!!!!! I will be better next lesson. But I have to remember when to descend and hole the airspeed with flaps 40. It was my first time on a maneuver 🤷🏽

    Do you encourage students, and licenced pilots, to regularly try glide approaches in the circuit so it would be second nature come an emergency?

    • @LewDixAviation
      @LewDixAviation  Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely.. On my private pilot checkride the examiner pulled my power and I was a bit flustered because I hadn’t been exposed to it all that much. It’s a crucial skill to have

    Shouldn't use ailerons in a stall, only rudder.

    I just finished my third flight at LAL. Nice to be able to apply some of this knowledge! Flew in 18mph winds. Hoping that helps build my comfort with the controls lol. I'm told you get semi-comfortable around 10-15hrs. What's your experience with that? Thanks mate!

  • @TGDylan96
    @TGDylan96 Před 7 lety

    Great video, glad to see you back at it. I'm doing my flight training in a college in Canada, do you guys utilize the 360 method in the states?

    • @gevmage
      @gevmage Před 7 lety

      What's "the 360 method"?

    • @TGDylan96
      @TGDylan96 Před 7 lety

      Assuming you have a field below you and at least 2200 ft agl, you start a standard rate 1 turn and do a 360 degree turn that will leave you on top of the field you picked with 200 feat. We lose about 1000fpm in our plane.

    • @LewDixAviation
      @LewDixAviation  Před 7 lety

      I've heard of the 360 method however i don't use it. I'm not sure if other people use it though, maybe its just me that doesn't haha.

    • @TGDylan96
      @TGDylan96 Před 7 lety

      Ya our DPEs here were saying its bumped up the success rate of forced approaches on Checkrides in Canada. Still getting used to it. Keep up the great videos!
