That thing is begging to go full on custom mini truck with a phantom billet grill, crazy colorful paint job and a giant system! That or I vote for throwing a turbo on it, converting it to all wheel drive, and making it like a Typhoon mini van.

The 4.3 engines in those vans actually have a towing cam from the factory and also a different torque converter vs the S10 pickups. fun facts
I wonder if they have good gears in the rear ends as well? I know a buddy of mine had an S-10 tahoe with A towing package and his truck was a long bed with a Reese hitch and either 4:10 or maybe 4:56 gears. I cant remember which one but I know it ran much better than any other stock S-10 I had driven or worked on back then. No syclone but I never got the privilege of driving one of the syclones personally but their specs speak for themselves.
@@PresCor1I'm not sure about the cyclone, but the typhoon was just a turbo bravada. It's either 3:73 or 4:10 depending on the rpo code on the door, usually a prefix of f, g, or h. I built a 4wd s10 years ago using safari parts, bored 30 over, safari cam, 350 injectors, safari converter and corvette servo in the trans matched with a shift kit. Thing was an absolute monster.

So much love. I had a 1999 Astro. Got it for free needing some work threw a ton of parts at it, and loved it. Hauled motorcycles, camped in it, made it a work van. It did it all. Until the trans broke. Sold it to a guy who rebuilds transmissions. He fixed it for next to nothing and it is still going today. They look sick slammed. Of course everything looks great slammed.

Those Astro Vans are cool. Growing up my friend’s older brother had one. Dropped with a wall of subs 🔊 🔊. That thing was loud. I’ve always liked the big window on those things.
I have a 96 GMC Safari... her name is mini-pearl...I love my van.... thanks for educating me a lil on the 4.3 v6....I didn't know it was basically a 350 lacking two of the cylinders.
One of my all time favorite "minitrucks"! I had a friend with an Astro who put 8 15's in a wall..we took it to the beach one summer and had a blast!

The top of those grilles love to catch and pool water in the middle a drain hole is a great idea. Below the rear doors can be the same story but people usually have bad seals too.
I love astro vans and this one is gonna be flippin badass. My father had a 99 cargo astro that was maroon with a zenon body kit. It was very good looking. It had a dual tip on either side for the exaust. Man that zenon body kit looks great. If that kit was on this van here, wow. Good luck can't wait to see it done. I hope we can win it.

I’ll usually throw a jumper cable from the ground terminal to the frame and the block to test ground issues, worth a shot in the future for you

Like 20 yrs go we had a local guy, his name was Kelly. Long haired super hair metal band kind of guy super cool though, do anything for anyone. We helped him 350swap his Astro van and then later found out he was using it to illegally run cigarettes back and forth over the PA OH border because PA just implemented a tax at the time. What a guy Kolkata was QUICK had a few oliv chase stories
The tbi 4.3s are the best. They may not make a bunch of power but after owning a bunch of both tbi and a bunch of the spider injected ones, i had so many problems with the split manifolds and spider injection.
You should do a Casey Custom wrap on the van. Shop/ merchandise promo style

Bought a Cherokee once that had one of those stupid battery cables on it which the seller said wouldn't start. Towed it home, replaced the cable and vroom.
Sounds about right lol. People look past battery cables way more then you’d ever think imagine. The one on the Honda was frayed like spaghetti and causing lots of issues. It was like a 9 dollar fix 🤷🏻♂️
I love these vans my family had 3 of them I miss them all also miss my mom's 1986 dodge grand caravan light blue with the cheap wood looking vinal down both sides

Cool van i have an 86 4 cylinder stick shift shorty astro panel with plans on bagging it
Put subs in it. Throw tv in it with Xbox. Throw in 6 speakers in each door. Put underglo lights under dash add some aftermarket interior lights. Put better headlights and taillights But I think it's cool I'm a vanner.

A semi I drove about 25 years ago ate up an alternator a month for a year... I was looking around and it had a tiny pencil sized wire for 1 of the grounds... and I replaced it with a battery cable and drove 2 more years and it fixed. Grounds are important
I just bought a 98 blazer with the 4.3 vortex. I want to slamm it eventually. I have to fix it up a lil first tho
Find a COE CAB and 50s bed and use chassis of van. That would be awesome for the already bagged van frame.

Not telling ya what to do brother but I would look into a tire wheel combination that would help drop it without spending that extra money on spindles plus all the extra work that goes with that. I’m sure you were going to buy new wheels and tires anyway. I just believe the right wheels are tires would make a difference without alignment issues too. Good luck can’t wait to see the transformation.

Well, I see what the guy meant. When he said it was a bad idea. I mean, the motor is harder to get to. Things like that. But, you don't see many bagged vans. And I'm all about weird cars and trucks. Many years ago. We put a 454 in a Yugo. So you do you sir.
My wife and I have owned two of those. I try to fix my own cars.I'm not a mechanic, but I never had so much trouble fixing what should have been easy repairs, than getting to things under that hood.

you know id like to have one of those 4.3 liter v6 motors for a model a clone hot rod not sure if theres a carb intake for em or not but i think that in a model a pickup with an automatic over drive trans and a gm rear end out of a chevrolet pick up one would have an excellent 70 mph. highway cruiser

It definitely has a exhaust leak. Also they put metal blocks in the back so when they drop the rear, it will throw sparks. It could be a really cool van. Especially if you painted it a color similar to the mustang. Tiny the Windows

You should swap those s10 wheels on that frame outside on the ASTRO and will clean the wheel wells up a bit
