    This is helpful for anyone with social anxiety, specifically IxxPs like myself, focus more on the info not the person. Of course you need a bit of both, but the preoccupation with people is messing you up. So focus more on the easy and boring stuff, which imo is the info lol, and you'll have a smoother time communicating.

    My dad would drive over a pot-hole and curse out the pot-hole for being there. I would always find that so strange that he is literally talking to and cursing out a hole in the ground. Probably an observer.
    Meanwhile, I'm definitely a decider and in my head going: YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT POTHOLE? ARE YOU BLIND? Or if I'm the one driving over the pothole, I'm cursing out the city government for incorrectly spending our tax dollars and not fixing our crummy infrastructure...

    Man this is so true. I'm an INFP and in school, when I freak out, it's over people (how I stack up against others and the curve, if others seem smarter or more put together than me, etc.) as opposed to information (which I treat as: eh, it's impossible to know/remember everything, so just do your best).
    Meanwhile, I have an ISTJ roommate... It's such a difference. Like, she will "gossip" about this person and that person, but honestly it's all light-hearted and funny to her. Ya, that person is an idiot. That person is so smart, blah blah blah. But it's not loaded; it's just funny conversation to her. When I hear her talk about this stuff though, I freak the eff out like oh my goodness, what if people were saying this about me! That's why I never gossip and I actually won't talk about people, b/c I'm so conscious/afraid of whether people were to talk about me in that way.
    Haha, but the stuff my ISTJ roommmate really gets upset about is when the administration schedules the curriculum wrong, so that we don't have enough time to go through all of the information, when professors leave out information in their lectures that end up getting tested on the exam, etc. That stuff she really hates, but doesn't bother me as much. Maybe it should, b/c objectively it affects our long-term performance. But I guess, b/c my focus is on people, I figure that since nobody is getting the information, everyone will do poorly on that topic, and so it won't affect my "standing" in the curve.
    I have to say. I think the "observer" freakout seems like the better way to go, haha. At least when it comes to schooling.

    • @sonja1020
      @sonja1020 Před 3 lety +10

      Interesting.....I am an older INFP. I still freak out (just now with greater awareness) over people vs. things. My tidal waves are usually centered around the stupid things that people do that I disapprove of and/or are bothered by. The stuff (the things) I get mad at depends on my mood. But the "OMG, this is UNACCEPTABLE"......it's all about people. People do dumb shit. I am also a manager and I have employees that FREAK the F out over OMG this THING doesn't work, I'm like, "fix it and move on" and they are imploding because X doesn't work and/or is broken. What is up with SJs and gossip? I'm so self above tribe that I don't get it. I was like you in college - if the "stuff" was wrong, incomplete or missing, not accurate, I would magically skip over that stuff and be unbothered but for the observers, they couldn't move on until it was rectified. They were the ones that would dog the professors to "fix" it .....like yesterday. Me? I would just go do other things knowing that the observers would get it handled. LOL.

      As the person who regularly fucked up the curve for everyone in the class by scoring 100+% on tests when the next highest score was in the 80s, I apologize on behalf of all autodidacts who somehow have that "missing information" and always do well on tests, thus ruining your chances of having your grade bumped up because of the curve. And as an INTP, and thus single decider with De tidal waves, I still relate so hard to your perspective. I felt so bad every time professors would hand back our tests. I could feel the eyes of everyone in the class glaring at me with hatred. I knew they were thinking "if it weren't for her, my B would have been an A" or "if it weren't for her, my C would have been a B" (or worse)... Sometimes the teacher would embarrass me by announcing who got the highest score or writing my name on the board. My god, if looks could kill. I can still feel all those eyes on me, even on the back of my head. That kind of glare pierces. It still bothers me to this day, all these years later. Some people would take advantage of sitting near me and ask to see my test so they could compare their answers to mine to see where they went wrong. I tried to help anyone who asked and never thought myself superior or developed a complex, but I could tell that even as nice as I was, people still resented me. This is the nightmare for inferior De. Living in a world in which you fear the tribe will never accept you for who you really are, or where their social hierarchical games actually threaten your ability to keep being your own unique individual.

Let's do daily meetings about what everybody's doing to be updated all the time ". Second attitude is neglecting passing info: don't care, don't need to worry about it (hope it will happen naturally, no need to organise some meetings to force that). Never see it as a cause of problems or mistakes. I can't decide which attitude is double observer which is single observer?

      I realize I'm a late response, but these things you describe are not about observer/decider but about the animals. Specifically Blast. The first thing you describe sounds like very high Blast (I have a system and the whole tribe needs to be controlled by my system) and the second sounds like very low Blast (I consumed the information I need, but I'm not responsible for the tribe, they can go figure it out for themselves).
      A double decider blaster would be pretty balanced about the tribe control part, but their system of information will be insane. Especially if they are Oe, since Blast makes use of Oi. If they are Oi, their system may be brilliant, but the actual information would be a mess.
      A double observer blaster would have a decent system, but they would be insane in the tribe control part. Especially if they are Di, since Blast makes use of De. If they're De, their communication may be fantastic, but they're going to have mental breakdowns out of nowhere.

      @@LemonMeIon well said. My last girlfriend, being an Enfj and myself being an Infj, had a lot of that going on. She always thought I was oblivious to what was going on with people's emotions in the room, yet I was hyper aware. I always thought she was oblivious to the narrative or true framework in social situations (seemed like she was in her own fairy land) yet later discover she was quite aware. It was like our top two functions, being flipped would come so instinctively to us, that we would both not understand the other person was aware. I'm trying to make sense of it. The lead Fe I find can make a huge mess of one's own individualism. Being second function Fe, I wish I could just turn it off, because I feel way too deeply for people, yet so badly want to seperate myself from others. Lead Fe tends to care so deeply for connections with others, can't seem to get enough, yet feels choked when away from those they care about. It's as if the objective in EnFjs is the communion with others, while infjs objective is the direction the relationships are heading. Depth vs Breadth. Fe/Ni seems to want a wide horizon, while Ni/Fe wants a deep cavern.

    This perception of first or second slot De can be hard to read though; For example, IxFJs can look like ExFJs on the surface because high Fe is so obvious. Both types are always going to be constantly talking about people especially if they are high in neuroticism.

    • @basic-decaf
      @basic-decaf Před 3 lety +9

      Not true. True INFJs will not FREAK OUT over identity. These are freak-outs that we're talking about, i.e. the question of being comfortable. INFJs will freak out over the chemicals in their deodorant and whether or not that will give them breast cancer 30 years down the line. ENFJs freak out when Joe Shmoe isn't doing his job in upper management. Swap places and ENFJs will be yeah whatever I actually don't wear deodorant anyways. And the INFJ will be yeah whatever Joe has always been like that but not my business.

    • @arwuh
      @arwuh Před 3 lety

      In that example it is the imbalance between Fe and Ti that OP would notice. IxFJs have Ti that is high enough to balance out the Fe somewhat. What is this person talking about more often (and with more intensity)? If it's people and not "I've lost my keys" then you know they can't be IxFJ.

      @LemonMeIon Před 3 lety +4

      @@basic-decaf I appreciate the example and I understand why people want to dictate everything as right or wrong because it makes it easier to guess types, but there are a lot of in-betweens and 2nd slot Fe can also be concerned with identity. Hell even 3rd slot masculine Fe will have tidal wave breakdowns about the tribe not getting along and rant about who are causing the issues.

    • @basic-decaf
      @basic-decaf Před 3 lety

      @@LemonMeIon One-off breakdowns are fine and everyone can do everything sure. Sure. But there is a consistent pattern of freak-outs of this nature. That's the system. If you want to suggest the system is wrong, that's fine, but in this system that's how the definitions work. INTJs freak out every single day with the information they receive and the sensory working for them. Massive tidal waves of conflict between Ni and Se. Going above and beyond uncomfortably with Se to meet their Ni. The Te and Fi aren't even on their radar, and when they are, they're benign. Dave never mentions his morals, his beliefs, talks about the things he likes, and only sometimes takes people's quotes and thoughts into account. It's whatever to him. But he is, he IS completely absorbed in his own world and his own system and he freaks out about things, THINGS in the sensory-filled, real world never matching up with his vision. Consistently. Repeatedly.

    How do INTP show the whole double observer stuff? They're afraid of the people and not of the things?

    • @shiro1744
      @shiro1744 Před 3 lety +7

      Yes, more or less. Everyone has problems with both people and things, but it's where the real freakouts and panicking occur that is the big sign. An INTP (which I am) has very low Fe and so will probably freak out about tripping over some social rule or causing other people to have negative emotions accidentally. If, say, an INTP is with someone who is in a bad mood, the INTP will be far more likely than other types to take it personally and think that they were the cause and to freak out along the lines of "why are you mad at ME for?!?" The bad mood would be a problem to everyone else, but they would be able to see more clearly that the bad mood was most likely caused by something else, and so it would therefore not be a cause of too much distress.
      The other big sign is where the blame falls in ambiguous situations: an INTP will probably blame a computer problem on "some idiot programmer;" an ENTP would be more likely to blame the machine or equipment directly.

    • @samwilcox10
      @samwilcox10 Před 3 lety

      @@shiro1744 this helps extremely. I love these vids about observers and Deciders. But the problem is trying to see how they manifest within each personality. The thing I'm trying to figure out tho is an INTP always going to be a single decider double observer? I think my animal stack is CP/S(B). So I have Ti/Ne and Fe/Ne as my saviors. Wouldn't that then mean I would be freaking out over the Ne and Si balance struggle??? And reletively calm about Ti and Fe?

    • @shiro1744
      @shiro1744 Před 3 lety +2

      If that's the case, then yes, you would seem more like an ENTP than a regular old CS -INTP (like I am). But, if you were an INTP, you would still have more decider issues than observer issues--it would just be in a ratio of something like 60-40 rather than 80-20.

    • @giacomocasartelli5503
      @giacomocasartelli5503 Před 3 lety +1

      @@samwilcox10 From what I understand the animals have little to do with fears, in fact it's one of the last steps you should take in typing someone; first you chose between observer and decider, go over the other steps and then you fit an animal stack that makes sense.
      So the fact that you have blast last will make you more balanced on energy animals, but if you are a Di dom you still will be freaking out about people rather than things.
      I think Shan and Dave use these videos just to give a superficial understanding, while you can find detailed info in their course, that's why they seldom go into deep, thorough explanations
