Me too. I’m an ENFP aspiring writer and Te people are so much easier for me to write than Ti people. Fi? Perfect sense to me. Te people? Write about people with a buried Fi emotional side, done. Even Fe makes sense, since I’m someone with an Fe/Se dad and I know how Fe looks in a Savior state. Ti? What the heck? Is that?
Lucky for me, my current protagonist is an ENTP, and she is very much enjoying making my life absolute torture as I try to figure out who in the world she is. I spend so much time just tearing through my mind, trying to learn how in the world it looks for her to be excited, angry, emotional, vulnerable… if she doesn’t have Fi and she doesn’t naturally use Fe, where are her emotions? Fe or Ti? What is personal to her? What motivates her? What does she even want? I spent months trying to interpret Ti through an Fi lens and it didn’t work, so I had to spend even more months researching into Ti and trying to get a handle on how it functions. The idea of logic being personal is really hard for me to fully grasp. I grasp it a little bit at this point, and I’m trying every day to understand it more. If anything, I’m grateful for this ENTP character, because she isn’t even real and yet she’s already encouraging me to figure out more about people and their perspectives.

@@jimclayson Woahhhh. As an ENFP, I see how that might happen, because there’s this huge barrier between how Fi and Ti types feel emotions and make decisions. I find that I always used to tend to assume Ti people were feeling something 24/7, and if they weren’t, they were suppressing it or unaware of it. The more I’ve listened to Ti people talk about it, Thinkers are capable of just… thinking. Like, emotions are a thing, but they exist on their own, and they’re not very important in the grand scheme of things. It’s not really an awareness game sometimes; it’s more so that Fi people tend to base more of their lives on emotions, and Ti people just don’t.
Obviously, I find that crazy… because I haven’t mastered the art of leaving my emotions out of things. Lol. Y’all are so cool. 🤩
I see why the projected insecurities would happen too. Ne most definitely tries to jump into other people’s heads and scope out their perspectives, and when the Fi is insecure, there’s ample room for it to pin things on people. There are certain areas I do that in, and I’m really trying to break that habit.
It’s really cool that you can look at your past relationship and pick out exactly how the ENFP saw past you as a person. I think understanding typology is really important, at least in my life, because I know there are quite a few people in my life I would be at a loss for understanding if not for cognitive functions. Not to mention they help me avoid all my defaults and try to be 2% better of a person, hahaha.

I admire you so much for who you are after that encounter. I can relate to the struggle with anger. For me personally, anger is this built-in defense mechanism to battle hurt and fear when it comes to the individuals who cause those feelings. But then that anger keeps coming, long after the threat is gone. I have a few people I’m still trying to get over anger with and it’s unbelievably rough. My respect goes out to you and your recovery- you’re such a strong individual. Good on you for not giving that up for anyone!!! Abusers and toxic individuals can screw off.

As a Savior Fe, maybe I can help y'all understand Kathy's behavior a bit better. Folks like us spend our lives dedicated to the care and security of others. Rarely do we "burden" friends and family with our problems. Our hardships best be pretty damn serious for us to consider seeking reassurance. In essence, the teacher becomes the student in times of trouble. The support we provide with such ease is quite difficult for Savior Fe's to solicit. "We don't want to be.a burden."
But when confronted with a diagnosis like cancer, Savior Fe's find that we've expended so much effort on building resiliency in others that we neglected to do so in ourselves, hence Kathy's outburst in the hospital. She had exhausted her emotional bandwidth and was desperately searching for someone to restore it. I imagine that she must have felt a great deal of despair and loneliness in that moment, particularly as an Fe. I certainly would.

Te users would probably call their schtick an “exchange of ideas” or whatever. Putting whatever ideas they have into the open and going along with whatever works. Fe, then, is just an exchange of feelings, like an emotional call and response. We express whatever feelings we have in the moment, see how the people around us respond, and go along with whatever takes the group dynamic in a positive direction. But as an INFJ with savior Ti, I guess I sometimes see Te similarly to how Dave and Shan see Fe. I can recognize when people are using reasoning that doesn’t sound like their own, and to me it can come across as not genuine or thought out, as if they’re just parroting someone else.

    • @savagebuck

Your comment proving again why INFJs are the MOST SENSIBLE beings. It's like understanding the other person via their own POV as opposed to trying to understand them from my own viewpoint. Fe was never trying to be genuine or self-expressive, they are only doing it for the tribe, so what "works" is what matters the most, as a feature of expediency. If you have a hard time understanding that people can do this, then it's likely because you yourself is a single decider (feeling/thinking as the first and last function).

Something I can appreciate about Fe users, as an Fi/Te user, is how quickly they can move on from emotional turbulence. Once the Fe-dramatics are over and all the feeling has been expressed, they move on. I on the other hand can let my turbulent emotions fester inside of me until they rot me from the inside out, lol.
Also, poor Kathy. What she really needed was someone to hold her hand and cry with her.

You are right. Having fe once an emotion is expressed it is gone, there is no ownership of it. Which can feel like a blessing and a curse, it feels like you never really have any emotions of your own & sometimes can get caught in logic loops like a fly in honey circling around. Te can often break that and I find that with fe can shift the emotional experience of others so it’s truly a dynamic interplay.

If that happened to me, how would I feel, and what would I want other people do to comfort me? I usually ended up solving their problem, but I can also give emotional support. However, what can also happen is, I think that person's reason for crying is stupid, like "I wouldn't even be sad if that happened to me, the fck are you crying for?" If that happened, I could even feel comfortable laughing at that crying person, as cruel as that may sound. And then sometimes, I found out that my assessment of why they cried at the beginning was actually off. Staying with the stuff in the video: I like overcomplicating things for fun (Ti) and that's my main thinking form, sure, but I can do quickfire lowest-common-denominator executable stuff (Te) no problem, and if you call me an idiot for it I'll mostly just shrug. I think that's what the Fe-saviours are doing with their sudden flips from tribe pleasing to self-centeredness. I'm not Te nor Ni front stack either. For me, it's more the disrespect of Ti and lack of Ne that gets to me. I wouldn't say I misunderstand their intentions, but I can sometimes be schmoozed and lulled into a false sense of security by the Fe/Si. Just don't forget, if you are not part of their inner circle whom they will fiercely protect, like their child, they might throw you under the bus to protect their inner circle's interests. If you are genuinely super close to them, you can just expect them to explode and say mean things occasionally, only to pretend like it never happened the next day. Just try to keep the conversation light and superficial so you don't give away too much, and if possible, turn the conversation towards them. Fe doms are used to focusing so much on how other people feel anyway, they are sometimes ignoring their own feelings and will likely appreciate the Fe gesture of asking them how they're doing or getting a break from taking care of others. Interesting video, but as an ENFJ I have something to say... We might act all silly-bubbly like you said but it's not just because it's what would be more acceptable for everyone or because 'it works'... From my perspective and from many ENFJs I know, it mostly comes from a place of authenticity within us. We might be aware that we are acting a bit 'too happy' to others, but we enjoy being that way - we are utterly optimistic =)
And yeah, Fe users might get emotional bursts every once in a while, but I am not sure if that is a product of Fe-dom or a more complex effect from a combination of different functions in the stack. For example I tend to get frustrated when I must explain my decisions logically to someone and I find it hard because they were made mostly on an emotional (Fe) or intuitive (Ni) basis. So that's Fe and Ni getting in the way of my poor inferior Ti who won't have a chance lol. Anyway, sometimes I just 'freeze', but other times I get angry like that, but I wonder if when Fe users burst like that it would be because we are just more intense in our feelings? Hmm, food for thought anyway... but it would be interesting to explore this in more depth comparing how different Fe users do that, if it really has to do with the function by itself or with a more specific stack combination.

We were in this workshop and we were preparing and editing a document in real time and whenever i had an idea i had to request everyone to shut up and write it down then ask them if it made sense as i could not think and at the same time talk like them.. I was wondering if that was my Ti in play as i am an INTP

Last week I had this zoom meeting with like 20 people and we where all brain storming on that we could do to do something nice for a couple people that are affected with all the covid stuff and I was sharing my Idea and it was really heard for me because it was traded just like everyone elses Idea and on the spectrum it really was just about average but I still feeled very vulnerable because I had shard my ti. 😅😂

Sure glad this video was over 5 minutes. That gives me a bit more time to gain enough insight to at least get by.
I think by this logic, Fe types should be the best and most rare in today's society, which overemphasizes "logical thinking" (as defined by the subjective culture of today's society anyway). For communication to hold any value in this day and age it ought to be concise and rational. It is a masculine style of mental, action-oriented "intelligence" which naturally lacks emotion, because emotional intelligence is feminine in nature. Therefore the Fe types should be venerated as the most brave, for openly communicating emotions despite also possessing the the mental intelligence that makes them aware that they "look crazy". Legendary philosophers and Christian apostles, among others, seem to encourage us to be as children, reacting in purity from our hearts in order to broaden our intellectual horizons and even gain intimate understanding of the Divine. I am not negatively insinuating that Fe's are emotionally immature, but suggesting the opposite. They set the true example for how we ought to embrace our emotional selves, because that expression is also highly intelligent. A healthy child freely and clearly expresses their emotions. But a healthy adult seems to feel threatened by them. They attempt to shut them down in favor of conforming to a completely illusive idea that limiting their emotions equates to thinking objectively and being smart.
Emotions are *neutral*. Happiness is an emotion. Anger is an emotion. Jealousy is an emotion. Excitement is an emotion. None should be shunned and none should be honored. If emotions are frowned upon, that seems to be a huge result of brainwashing. ("Don't be so sensitive/ don't act so emotional. Use your brain". If anyone's ever told you that, you could argue that those don't make inherent sense, as you can *and should* have emotions and use them by acting on them with purpose or hardly at all. Either way you are still an emotional human. And "using your brain" involves using your emotions to communicate a message. This *is* a smart way of exploiting your own system to your advantage. Fe according to what I've gathered from your videos, denotes using emotions as an extremely effective catalyst, devisive tool, charm, and other means of intelligent communication to clearly obtain a goal that is intuitive for the recipient to read and understand. From that point the recipient can either instantly become an asset, a liability, or a pawn.
Fe's could be some badass Slytherins if understood this way. Sorry I went off on a tangent and now I'm too lazy to proofread this.

Ok, that difference can be soooo huge! I am NOT one of the Te's! 😅
This reminds me of how I took part in a game tournament a while ago. With a partner, who I think was some kind of Se/Te type. While preparing, he would ask the tournament organizers questions about the most simple stuff if it wasn't 100% clear. Like, no shame. I was secretly glad that he did, because I wouldn't have asked. I would have been afraid everyone else would think I'm stupid for asking. If anything, maybe I would have tip toed up to my partner in private and be all whispery about it, like: "Hey... This feels like a dumb question, but... Do you know how _xyz_ is supposed to work?"

They are leaving out the aspect of righteous indignation. As an ENTP I am usually logical but sometimes feel I have the right to display how hurt/angry/scared/upset/etc I am. The immature parts may actually conduct this display as punishment to the others, their discomfort for my pain. Ti won’t step in the way cause it’s like “well, you got a right be pissed”.

And let me tell you, I feel like 90% of my coworkers tend to be Fe and Te doms, mostly sensors, too.
I think in this context, the "lowest common denominator" could essentially be this spectrum of the working class, the entry level/unqualified workers and day-laborers.
