  • What's the difference between Extraverted Feeling (Fe) and Introverted Feeling (Fi)? Extraverted Feeling (Fe) is used by the xxFJ types in the Myers-Briggs 16 personalities system (ENFJ, ESFJ, INFJ, ISFJ). Introverted Feeling (Fi) is used by the xxFP types in the Myers-Briggs 16 personalities system (INFP, ISFP, ENFP, ESFP). In this video I'll define the cognitive functions Extraverted Feeling Fe and Introverted Feeling Fi.
    A big difference between these two cognitive functions is Fe's External Harmony of individuals vs. Fi's Internal Harmony of values within the self. What standards of behavior get a cooperative group rapport (Fe) vs. What standards of behavior resonate with me personally (Fi)?

    This has helped me hugely to understand my sister - she’s Fi and I’m Fe. I am really loving these new videos!

    For a long time I tried to realize which one of the NF types I was. I could relate to each of them perfectly in different situations. Recently I've been trying to find out if I might be an INFP, and this video made it pretty clear that I do not use Fi at all. Fe might be my first or second function so my type is probably INFJ or an ENFJ. Thank you for this clear video, I will continue watching these for my personal research. This was very helpful and insightful!

    This was really helpful! Due to the placement of my Fe (tertiary), I tend to think I use Fi instead of Fe (Fe filtered through Ti?) but your presentation breaks down the details so well that I can see my child Fe trying to make an impact. Excellent series, Alexis, I've sent it to several type colleagues and we're all enjoying it-thank you!

    Fe vs Fi - Person A tells a joke in group X and the group reacts negatively. Person B tells Person A to read the room even though Person B personally found the joke funny, they also knew it was in bad taste. Person A tells the joke in group Y where Person B is and they all love it. Person A is frustrated at Person B for being a hypocrite and not standing by their values. Sometimes you have to stand by your own personal opinion even in the face of the group. How else can you love yourself and be loved truthfully.
    Then Person B tells a joke that group Y loves but Person A does not think is appropriate. Person A tells person B "You shouldn't joke about that, it's sick and I can't believe those people laughed". Person B apologises, saying "I didn't know it was a problem for you personally and I won't joke about that in front of you". Person A says "It isn't okay to joke about it at all". Person B feels bad, but is annoyed at just how selfish and dictatorial Person A was being. Sometimes other people enjoy things you don't and that's okay. If you care about people you let minor things slide.
    Person A = Fi
    Person B = Fe

      Naaah, that's just hitting too close to home ☠️ A lot of times, i thought i was Fi user, because i had moral codes that some people wouldn't agree on BUT those moral codes were based on health of people that i felt the pain of and anger for them. Many times i didn't understand why people would say something so harsh about others because "what did they do? Why are you attacking them for literally nothing" or "why you joke about them? There's nothing wrong with them". Which also lead me to think i was Fi user

    This really cleared things up for me. I'm definitely an Fe user (most likely ISFJ). You explain things so clearly yet creatively. Thank you so much! 😁 I know this isn't related to this video, but speaking of ISFJ, I have a question: Do Si doms have to be in tune with their environment? I'm very unobservant of my surroundings, getting very immersed in my thoughts. I think this is partly due to how strong my senses are (sound, smell, taste, etc) and how easily overwhelmed I get. I have a very good memory for experiences rather than my surroundings. My memory is very data-oriented-dates that things happened, information about people (I still remember all the birthdays, as well as the basic astrological info of my elementary and middle school classmates and I'm almost 22), and I have a distinct memory for arbitrary events that other people don't remember. I also get nostalgic over these memories veryyy quickly. So, it's more like I am processing things, but it's more so memories and information getting stored in my brain (which I see as drawers filled with organized files to an extent) than immediate sensory information. That got pretty long, but I hope it makes sense. I've just seen things saying Si doms are observant of their environment, but many physical aspects of my surroundings just don't register. My mom has joked about how easy it would be to kidnap me when I'm on a walk because I'm so oblivious to my surroundings. 😂😬 I've chalked this up to more of an Se deficiency, but I could be wrong.

    I'm an ENFP and from the beginning of the symphony explanation, when you mentioned imagining which instrument in the would be fi. I knew it was a no. And before you started analyzing which ones it could be hence before I felt you felt it wouldn't be any of those I felt it would be the acoustic guitar so I love how I felt once you came to that same conclusion eventually. Thank you for verbally going through your thoughts process as I don't necessarily think like that and it just pops up for me. I thought piano? No orchestra can have it. Drums no, too close to percussion. Acoustic guitar. Wait she is saying hypie movement, will she say tambourine???? No I'd say acoustic guitar then bam she say acoustic guitar 🤓

    I agree about the general positive or negative emotions being mentioned being somewhat associated with functions. Let's say if you look at Dave and Shan from OPS, it's a lot of emotional negativity whereas if you look at a Joyce Meng it's on the other hand a lot of positivity. My Fe dom girlfriend is always grateful about everything. When something goes wrong, she is grateful that not 2 things went wrong. In general I find this positive/negative thing quite an interesting pattern (but of course not always true ) that you can relatively easy pick up about people. I would say that a helpful side of observing this in people is that it does not require a whole lot of analysis and tends to not get deep into subjective territory. I mean, it's usually relatively easy to observe when someone resonates more with positive or negative emotions. If you want to connect to a higher Fi type, then share your negative emotions with them and you will notice how this makes them bond with you.
    i'd say it's basically the same with Te/Ti. Whenever I (TI dom) tell some idea I have (like some theory I cooked up) to a Ti user, they tend to ask lots of questions about it to figure out if it makes sense to them. If I tell it to a (high) Te user, they either immediately jump into the seat of a student that believes anything their professor says or they reject it more instantly if they do not perceive you as credible enough to be viewed as their mentor. If they instantly perceive what I say as if it's just automatically true, I feel inclined to mention that it's just an idea or theory and not automatically thus true.
    I think it's basically the same with all introvered or extroverted functions like that. Si thinks things are gonna go wrong and build themselves some more safety against some hypothetical problem, whereas an Se dom might just do crazy stunts with a high likelyhood of going wrong, yet it's not gonna worry them that much about it. Whenever I talk to my Si dom father in law, the first things he says are always negative things related to human safety. He says who got sicknesses, who lost their house etc. Once you spot such pattern, it's kinda hilarious though.
    It's just that introversion is yin (thus negative) and extroversion is yang and thus positive.
    Also, while I agree that SJW's not are automatically Fi, I do think that the things you describe a little bit later like 'oh why can't guys wear dresses' is actually quite very close to the SJW view of things. For that reason I do think they're much, much more inclined to feel attracted to such movements.

    • @AlexisKingsley
      @AlexisKingsley  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for the comment! Do you think Ni is negative while Ne is positive as well? As to the SJW part, I do think there's a correlation with Fi users valuing social justice, but I don't think there's a correlation with the "warrior" part. Fi-doms don't push their values or argue their values as they don't desire to change anyone. But if you get Fi lower down, (like a Te-dom for example) I've seen get more aggressive "warrior" behavior.

    I think it's interesting that perceivers are the ones who generally aren't so stubborn in their group place as their judging functions are in 2 and 3 and can be quite close in usage. Introverted judgers tend to find it hard to fit in to groups, and extroverted judgers tend to find it very hard to deal with dissent.
    Fi or Ti + Ne is the worst possible combo for groups because they rebel against their inferior function dominating their dominant function in groups, and are constantly challenging with new ideas their opposing function. And their demon function doms feel like they're from an upside down world.
    So basically all the INxPs have in their corner are the perceivers who have their inferior and dominant function together, especially those who share the top two, and also, they must not have Ne 4, 7 or 8. So the ENxP are the stars here, with the INxJ running backup. Ohh but those 30% of the population who are xSFJ they are coming for you introverted intuitive judgers.. Look out.

      I can really relate to that. I'm no expert, but at the end of the day, I think it's what your default is. Even if you find your thought patterns matching with both functions, I think how you instinctively approach situations, especially social ones, is the strongest indicator. The way I think about it is that though we have all the functions, the ones that align with how we intuitively interact with people and our environment are most likely higher in our function stack. It's not necessarily about only using one or the other, but about which function we have a stronger immediate preference for in situations. Again, I'm not an expert, so don't just take my word for it. 😂

    At 11 minutes when you say: "why can't guys wear dresses, why can't guys wear long hair"- I literally said a version of this to my ISFJ sister and my stubborn friends who are ISTP and INTJ.
    We were obviously talking about gender roles and I just said it's funny how society works and how someone decided a long time ago that women should skirts and dresses.
    Who decided this? Same goes for pronouns, why do we need to specify he or she?
    I was not arguing about it, I'm not even qualified to have that conversation, what I meant was, why in conversation we need to confirm it's a female or male (I'm not saying gender doesn't exist, it does of course). Why can't we just say the individual did something? It's just strange, that's all. Same with clothing. Why some genders should not wear some clothes.

      I can have the same thoughts, but using Ti. Then how do you find out whether you use Fi or Ti to come to those conclusions?
      On the other hand I don't care that much about those topics. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Respect the culture in other words

    • @dxfifa
      @dxfifa Před měsícem

      The difference is Ti users who come up with the same conclusion generally aren't attached to their own identity and values, rather what they see as general ethics and truths that could apply to anybody. I am an INTP, I come to the same conclusion, but I don't care about having to dress to fit in as i'm not interested in trying to make myself stand out outside of for bringing new truths to people.
      My perspective is "if you wanna be that guy that everyone sees doing your thing outside the norms, you gotta take what comes with it"
      And I'm sure Fi people 100% think the same about people who are spreading unpopular ideas and implementing very different solutions to non moral problems
