They are also causing damage to buildings that they pay for. The money for repairs could very likely lead to less budget for university departments and hence worse teaching. It’s like damaging you own property, it only ends up worse off for you. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if they get expelled but the university keeps the tuition fees.

I graduated from Columbia in December I and I am so embarrassed by these students.
What the administration should do is: Turn off electric, turn off the water, block all food deliveries, block Wi-Fi access. Surround building with police, allow no one to enter or leave till all leave.
Just wifi and a signal jammer to prevent cellphone data around the building would have them out quickly. Once they can not social media to get there fix there out of there.
Blocking wifi would probably be enough.

You're all forgetting that they're still paying tuition fees. Each one of these students is worth $90,000 a year to the university. Even expelling one of them will likely cause a net loss, to expel all these students would literally cost them millions of dollars in revenue.

I've been seeing where a common demand by these protesters across sites is "immunity"...so they want the freedom to do whatever they want...set up encampments, destroy property, make campuses unsafe...but not face any sort of punishment. How great life would be if there were no consequences for our actions?!? They are petulant overgrown toddlers who need a lesson in real life.
That would require thought and education. Where could they get that? If only there was a place they could learn history. 🤔

Uhh..... Protesting has always been about sacrifice for your ideals. They literally want their ideals without any sacrifice. This is what happens when you teach kids idealism and commie "sharing is caring" crap instead of the brutal truth of human history and all its nuance.

"Free college" "Free healthcare" It always ends bad. Every single time and yet constantly some people think its good.
Our welfare is a great example.
I worked with government housing programs for years. I also worked in different states and I can say with 100% confidence that over 90% of people on these programs should not in any way be allowed on said programs. They can work but refuse. The sad part is 90% is a low ball number.
It only takes 1 ahole and that 1 ahole is the start of a flood of aholes that will abuse the system and take advantage of peoples empathy.
