These knockoff consoles always make me feel so sad. You just know they're targeted primarily towards lower income and elderly relatives who don't know any better and are just trying to make some kid happy :(

I love when bootleg products use the word “new” on some feature the thing always had to begin with, just to make you believe it has a history and some reputation, even if it was launched like two months ago.
At 3:21 they have a 8G connectivity sticker and don't even boast about it... we are stuck with our mere 5G and it's a selling point for high end smartphones ! They're way ahead of us and yet remain humble about it.
We have so much to learn from these cheap rip offs and knock offs sellers

Because they are from China who don't really care about other countries when in comes to distribution of their properties. It's why most don't release consoles there to begin with.

Actually purchased that exact one through Amazon as a cheap game player for my 6 year old. I have a NES and SNES but this is just easier for him to play on the go. He feels like his older sisters since they get to play. Cheap and easy so that if he breaks it no problem - however, 7 months in and still going strong.
If I was you, would buy them a second hand modded PSP, rather than this piece of garbage. But if he's happy with this, then great.

There are dozens of retro handhelds that can play everything perfectly up to PS1 for less than 100$ and you choosed a terrible quality one which can't even play SNES? Do a favour to your kid and pick a Miyoo mini or a RG351P.

It's also his first moderately proper foray into gaming (beyond little tablet games). And second, he will be tempered in the fires of laggy inputs. It'll be life changing when he doesn't have to experience that.. lol. Well, joycon drift could ruin it for him.

For $40 you can get the PowKiddy V90 which is actually a pretty damn good lil device that runs the games well. So the low price point isn't always the issue in the emulation handheld market. Just do your research first.. and if custom firmware is available for the device USE IT... It will often make a massive performance difference with some of these devices.
I mean they're asking the same price as as an Ambernic. I know they have cheap ones that are like $20 or $30 maybe $50 that would work great with this stuff for the price and isn't total garbage.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu ya, I have several Anbernic devices. They're beauty. Especially with CFW... However, I'm not aware of any devices they have that are that cheap... You're spending at least $70 for a good Anbernic... I just dropped $170 on their new RG353P

I'm not sure if the one I'm thinking of is an actual Amberic but I thought it was. Super portable basically only has d-pad no thumbsticks. And I think 4 face buttons maybe left and right triggers I forget.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu sounds like you're thinking of the RG280V... Great lil device that's been around for awhile. I think it's in the $50-75usd range... It's getting a lil long in the tooth now, but is still totally capable of emulating up to PS1 I believe... Also probably has a ton of CFW support by now.

My problem is I keep up with a lot of the channels that look at a lot of those like something prime and MLP. So all the brands and stuff just start running together it might have been a powkiddy variant or something similar. This one really looked like a small game boy or even GBA version d-pad maybe it was only two buttons but I think it was four. And maybe left and right triggers but I might be wrong. But yeah it had a pretty weak chip in it if I remember correctly I pretty much was for 8 and 16 bit consoles maybe things like Neo Geo TG-16/PC engine probably. Along with arcade probably.

Just test it with some verification software on windows to detect firmware modification.
If only there was real Switch Lite version with that size controls.
You'd think these companies would actually try to make glorified PSP emulating devices out of these given the entire concept behind this handheld being a Switch copy, but no, that would be giving into the role too much because good is bad.
It's even more ironic as the main menu is a PS Vita LiveArea rip-off. Pfffft...

I can remember when everyone was playing snake on their Nokia 3310 only 15 years ago. If you go back in time with this device, to be able to play console games and thousands of them for just $30 and in a pocketable device, that would be considered no short of amazing. And thousands of mame arcade games too!! A whole arcade in your pocket.

@@secondaccounta320 I collect them. Back in the day, people would give their eye teeth for something that cost under £40 that would play thousands of arcade and console games. How much did each game cost to buy back then? I remember paying £30 for a second rate port of Flying Shark on the Amiga but in those days it was amazing.

Miyoo Mini and PlayGo are both $50-$60 and are great entry level devices. The RG353P is pretty awesome.
As someone else said this feels like the kind of crap a deadbeat dad would get for his son. The internet equivalent of buying toys at a local liquor store or mini Mart.

I mean I do think they're unfortunately is a lot of crap out there. You gotta be careful when buying one of these. Even some of the good ones have a tendency to suddenly die for no reason. But yeah this is one of the absolute worst I've seen. Truly bottom of the barrel plus it's a bad switch knock off. This could have been halfway decent if they cared even a little bit which clearly they didn't at all.

It's not that the Switch *can't* play GBA, it just *won't*.
@Spawn Wave On previous iterations the D pad would have been 4 separate buttons, so the D pad has to be large to reach the button contact pads. The case may be a recent design but the PCB isn’t, that’s why the plus & minus buttons have to be fake, there’s no contacts up there.
6:18 They lie. I bought a Media Player for my G/F, she wanted it to play DVDs. It does, it doesn't do anything else it claimed though. And claimed not only Online but in the instructions. Nope does nothing except play DVDs. Fortunately that's all she wanted.
I am extremely curious to know what that built in maplestory game is. Afaik Maplestory has only had games released as the MMO, a DS game, and a mobile phone game. Seeing as this device can't even run SNES games at full speed and it only has one screen, I'm doubtful it's the DS version. It's almost surely not the mobile version as it requires online play, and it definitely isn't the MMO. Really want to see what that could be

OH MY GOD. I have the Vita variant. (X7 Plus) It has some noticeable differences. Doesn't really show all the supported stuff on mine but this plays the same stuff lol. It's actually decent along with the camera, mic, and video.

There's some better ones out there that will actually run ps1 games decently, and everything before that console runs near flawless. Powkiddy q90 or v90 are pretty good compared to this. But for the ultimate retro handheld emulator go with the miyoo mini. Near flawless ps1 on that one! The more expensive ambernic devices will play dreamcast and saturn and n64 almost perfectly. Retroid pocket 2+ will play GameCube pretty well. So there's some really good handhelds out there in the $50-$150 range.

@@Arc_Soma2639 Have you looked into buying a Vita from Japan? They tend to run cheaper than US/EU variants. You can install CFW to run in English and play roms.
Steamdeck plays nearly everything
Spawnwave the only good thing I can see about these knockoff handhelds is that you can be able to experiment with them to make a Raspberrypie handheld.
The first megaman game I played was x4 on PC. I got so used to the default keyboard control scheme that I felt I could never be comfortable with playing this kind of games with a controller. 4 arrow keys feel way more precise than analog stick, and you get dedicated fingers for dash, jump and x buster individually instead of having to use right thumb for all three actions.
How the hell did you manage to play x4 on pc? How the hell does that even happen lmao. I didn't even know it was on pc.
@@Andronicus87 iirc all X games had a PC port. Though the only PC port I've gotten to play personally was a bit of X8 on a friends desktop a few years ago.
You should do a video upgrading these knockoff systems with like raspberrypi. Essentially just keeping the shell and trying to fit a raspberrypi motherboard on there.

Huh, they changed the design on these a bit. I used to see a slightly different variant on Facebook Marketplace all the time with a larger screen bezel (and thus smaller screen) branded just "X20", with a slightly different box.
I got a fake SNES Classic once. I noticed the bugs and told my dad. It became clear that we got a fake. Very saddening and disappointing.
Honestly this sort of crap should not be allowed to come into our country. ATS is "Actions Semi" in Guangdong China. You can depend that nothing in this SoC is properly licensed and no patent fees have ever been paid.

The PocketGo and Q90 are the only $20 emulators that I've found to be playable.

In it's defense, if something like this had come out 20 years ago it would have been a hot seller (and would probably have a major lawsuit with Nintendo).
The PSP came out 17 years ago and was able to emulate all those systems way better than this thing (including flawless PS1 emulation). Granted, you had to hack it and find roms yourself, but that wasn't all that difficult. The only thing this device has going for it is the cheap price.

if you can re-flash the system with an updated software, it can suck less, but it still going to suck.
the button press issue is likely software side, as it may be just reading state changes vs a per frame read out of the button states.

I bought this X20 Mini, knowing it was a knockoff of a Switch Lite, my reasoning for buying it is so I can have an inexpensive handheld that I can take with me on the go and not worry about something happening to a $200 system. I will say, I like that the D-pad is big, always had trouble with the small D-pad, I have a big thumb. Had to order a second X20 Mini, though. It did not break, malfunction or anything. Mine works really well, it's just that I lost the SD card and if you lose that, the whole console doesn't work, none of the apps will work. If my next X20 Mini turned out to be a bad one, I can just put the SD can from the new one to my previous one.
Side note, if you get a bigger SD card with 32GB of storage, you will need to format the card and set it to exFAT before copying the contents from the 8G SD card that comes with the X20 Mini or it will reject the card and will not read it. You can put video files on the card and it plays videos fairly well.

I don't buy consoles on EBay anymore. I learned that the hard way. You should look up any unusual titles on the system and play them.
The reason why I don't like it is because the screen is so small that is even smaller than the Nintendo switch lite in literally makes my eyes think that it looks smaller than usual

I've been looking at external storage devices for my PS5 (Still has new console smell)
And I've been seeing a bunch of items calling themselves 16TB SSD's, for $100 and are the size of USB Flash drives.
They're obviously scams, but not everyone is going to know that.
And Amazon, doesn't even bother to vet items it lists and THEY EVEN DISTRIBUTE THESE!!!

These scam items (which all seem to be gone now) were USB Flash-Drives (Thumbdrives)... with 16,384GB storage... for $100...
But at least they seem to be gone. For now.
And yes, consoles are limited. Playstation 5 limits to 8TB, don't know about XBsX.
