    I’ve been debating for years now on doing a supercharger or turbo on my 97 Cobra but I still can’t decide. I’ve been looking into these On3 kits lately but can’t seem to find anything on CZcams involving 96-98 Cobras. I can usually only find videos on New Edge 2V cars or Fox bodies. I like the price on these kits but I try to remember the old saying “you get what you pay for”. I wonder if my stock ECU would have the same issues that this car had. @@automafiaracing That's odd, I had the exact issues. I took the xcal out to my expedition which has ran fine for 250,000 miles and it did the exact same thing. Tach drop out and cutting out. Switched to a new xcal and problem resolved. It doesn't make sense since the xcal is a pass through. But mine did it on seperate cars only when plugged in for datalogging. Put a dvom on a reference wire to a sensor and see if it's a voltage issue dropping out. If not, put a dvom on a ground source to a sensor to see if it's ground cut out. Take the SCT device and laptop to another Ford of the same generation of processors and attempt datalogging only with a laptop. See if you duplicate concern. Brian

      The block can handle 600whp easy, the sleeves are the weak point on a 2v mod motor. With a conservative tune it could do it. I have a 3.8L V6 making 400 whp. Have raced it for years.

    • @abasiczombie.
      @abasiczombie. Před 2 lety

      @@robertwood3970 actually the rods and pistons are the weak point. Yes the block can hold the power but the internals on a stock 2v aren’t forged. Your 3.8 has the same internals stock, just minus 2 cylinders. Given the same boost, the 4.6 2v v8 will make more than your V6. And given that they both have the same internals(stock), they’ll hold a certain amount of pressure per capita of their size. The stock internals on a 2v will only hold 500 horsepower to the crank and that’s if it has a ton of fuel. 4v mod motors can hold 500 crank reliably. Yes, some can go higher and some pop way lower, but the average is 400-450whp for a 2v with 8-10psi

Why go through all the bs to ls swap a 4.6 turbo mustang when all you gotta do to make WAY More power with the current power plant is upgrade the rods and pistons that alone is good for 600-700! Eaailh if you also upgrade to an 8 bolt forged crank while you're in there sky's the limit especially if it is a teksid block 4.6. No need to swap anything other than bottom end parts.
