- This was my first shot at filming an review video! The owner of the car went above and beyond by OFFERING his ride up to make a review video! We spend a whole day together shooting all of this footage, and I can't thank Kirk enough for the opportunity to drive his car. It was a massive extension of trust, and I hope the video does it justice.
If you are in the Minnesota/Wisconsin area and have a unique car like this, and would like a feature/review as the driver or in this format send me an email at greenlightproducers@gmail.com!
I do realize that there is some rattling on the audio while I'm talking in the car, and that won't happen next time. The offending clips have been unceremoniously removed lol...
The car is a 2001 Ford Mustang GT, with a 4.6L (281CID) V8, squeezed with a gentle 10lbs of PSI from a single 70MM On3 turbocharger. This kit can be had for around $1,600.00 and will yield similar results as the car in this video. Behind the 2 valve headed engine, is a 5 speed manual transmission, and a solid rear axle with a 4.10 rear gear ration, making this car a blast to drive.
Hope you like the video!!!

I’m really happy to see new 2V content on CZcams FINALLY.
More 2v content to come too
The sound of the 4.6 engines is why I won't do a coyote swap. They sound so much better than the coyotes.
nah were just broke
Haha
9 months later I still piss myself laughing 🤣🤣
Same haha. Driving mine right now.
It's like 100 more hp for an engine swap seems awesome but then coyote only handles 700hp on pump gas. Might as well build a 1000hp 4.6 4v imo
The longtubes and X pipe that were on the car are now on my 2004 Mustang GT. Got to know Kirk when I bought my car mine. Mine the slow version of his car.
Hi Hadam 🖐🖐🖐
oooo I was wondering if this was him! lol. I didn't know he bought some of your take off parts.

Editing is 👌 more of this! Great commentary. The audio quality is so good from the outside! Nice job :) 10/10 would drive that.
Thanks bud!! Going to try and shoot a few more of these if anyone wants to offer a cool car up to feature or review!
I've got a pretty good camera (Canon 80D) for all of the outside shots. The camera I used for the commentary is good too, I just didn't realize that the two strap clips on it were rattling. So annoying.
You should make some vlog type videos! You do a lot of racing, and it would be fun to watch you keep getting better.
I love my twin turbo 2v. The power comes on a little bit quicker than the single turbo cars, but for now I'm only making 400whp just to play it safe with the motor as it's a daily driver
Twin setup to make 400 why
@@brettbaker8130 because it's a daily, and still has stock internals. I didn't have the money to put forged internals in it when I built it, and 400whp is about the most it can safely handle. I plan on turning it up to over 1000 when I get the motor built
I just always wonder why ppl go twins when there goal at first is not very high. What's the twin setup cost
@@brettbaker8130 twins allow for smaller turbos that spool faster, so the power comes on quicker and is just easier to drive on the streets. As far as cost for everything, most of it was custom fabricated, and it was nearly $8000 for everything. The only things that aren't custom to the car ar the turbos, the headers, and the intercooler
Shelby Siegmann dang did you pay someone to install that is a lot of money could have been in a vette if you sold your car and put that combined money into a vette.
I can appreciate for the most part your GM and driving/reviewing this mustang. I own/owned more Fbodys but I like mustangs and this 1 is sweet.
Turbocharged 2vs are always fun
This was the first one I've been in. It's making awesome power, and I'm a big fan of it. Really cool car! BTW, I'm planning on being at the Wednesday night drags this week if the weather will be good.
How much power is it making? And awesome man we will definitely have to meet up there! Looks like it’s gonna be 69 and sunny so hopefully my car won’t get as heat soaked haha. You gotta do a review of my mustang for your channel man here soon
@@Twinturbomach hell yeah dude I would love to! We can talk about it Wednesday if we both make it to the track. It would be a lot of fun! I would need a good part of a day with you to do it all.
Kirk's car was making 450+whp when we shot it. Should be close to 500 when he gets it retuned. It's very conservative right now.
GreenLightFilming sounds good man! I’ll be there today! I’m deciding if I should bring the gti or the mustang
@@Twinturbomach of course I'll suggest the mustang! Lik. I'll be there around 530
Dope content and a sick ass 2v turbo💥💥💥 u get your self a new subscriber🤝🏼
Thanks buddy! Welcome the the channel. Thanks for subbing
Nice job on the video can’t wait for some more local cars
Thank you! I hope some more unique cars come along! I've got a couple in the future but nothing immediate.
Hopefully with the retune they can rid of that stumble down low when shifting. Gonna be doing an on3 kit on the wife's car soon
I was thinking about 5.0 swapping mine but I was like I'm buying stage 3 comp cams and a 78mm throttle body and I think its gonna be a fun build plus the sound of a 4.6 is really mean
It sounds great with cams. I think you'd be a lot of money ahead instead of Coyote swapping it. Hard to beat that late model engine though! Probably makes more power with longtubes compared to a 2v with cams lol.
What kind of power is it making?
Awesome 2 valve btw!
This one is making right around 500 if I recall
Nicely put together. Car sounds great.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! The car sounds really good in person. Video never really captures it.
Nice video work, more rolling footage.
Thanks Freddy. It was my first crack at doing a video like this, so there was some trial and error involved. The owner was awesome and played guinea pig for a whole day with me haha. Turnout out pretty good overall. The rollers were good in the end.
Is that the stock cam idling like that?…. Sounds amazing
Love the license plate frame 🤣
Good eye lol
Great hd quality and editing
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Car sounds so fucking good
Thanks Bud!
You can clearly see the tubular front control arms with the under shot of the car.
I'm in the middle of installing my kit right now and I'm debating the bumper exit or if I should just shoot it out the rear
No question. Bumper exit all day
+1 for bumper exit
Yeah after having my on3 kit on since may I’m definitely going with a bumper exit now
@@maciasd303837 I know this is a two year old comment but I have a question for ya. The bumper exit pipe. Do you have to fab one up or can you just buy one? Thanks
Hey sir, I was hoping I can pick at the owners brain a little bit in reference to the build. I have a 4.6 2v setup , I want to purchase an on3 turbo kit. But I'm clueless as to what else I'm going to need like injectors? Stand alone fuel system ? Or a tuner? What time of springs should I run on the heads? Do I have to build the block ? Different pistons or what not.. I have so many questions I'd be nice to get information from someone who's done it right, in my opinion. :) Thank you, I hope you could help.
every figure anything out
Great Video by the way as I had an 00 GT with a Vortec S Trim. Your buddies Turbo would smoke mine.
How did you get the popping backfire? N2MB WOT box?
Video turned out great!
Thanks Travis! Had a lot of fun cruising down to Duluth with everyone last weekend. We should do it again sometime.
Yes, would love to take another cruise.
Me too!
I think the 410 are not good with boosted cars at all, i had 410 on a procharger 2v and I took them out and installed 3.73 was gonna go 3.55 but 73 is nice gears
He installed the 4.10's before the power adders, and would agree with you 100%! I would imagine down the road he will change them.
Love the car what wheels are those
I’m thinking of going turbo on my 03 Terminator. I had a Lysholm twinscrew 3300 and made 609rwhp but then the head unit froze up and imploded. I now run a Ported Eaton and wonder if you know of any single turbo kits for Terminators or are they all twin turbos.
373 gear would be better imo. Great build! Love turbos!
If it was a positive displacement blower car I'd agree
@CockYaLegS without knowing his tire size it's pointless to recommend gear changes. 3.73 on a 26 inch tire is the same as 4.10s on a 28 inch tire. Unless the car is trapping over 125 in the 1/4, 4.10s are perfect.
What tires you running on it I plan to do on3 on 10psi too building my motor this winter
I have nt555r's on mine. 315 wide.70mm on3 kit on 10 psi. If its a warm day second gear will hook.
@@MrOhai1337 that's what I was planning to run . Thanks
What trans are you running?
@@maciasd303837 Stock TR3650
@@MrOhai1337 that's what my spare trans is how's it holding up on 10psi I'm about to swap it in over the winter
@@maciasd303837 Holds fine. Dont launch it under boost or powershift it super hard and it will last forever i bet haha.
That’s fire 🔥
Sweet ass review man.
Thank you! The next one should be even better. This was our first crack at it.
Great song and editing
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Sweet! MN local!
Can you get back to me about the on3 turbo kit please I have plenty of questions
What's the 0-60, I'm very curious 🤨
Nice 2v. Anymore vids of this car anywhere?
The car in the video is mine, I don't have many videos of it on my channel, but a few of it on the dyno and whatnot. I'm not CZcams savvy lol.
@@blown87gt love the car you know how much power it’s making?
@@samuelloose8236 it's currently roughly 440whp. I have a new fuel tank and pump setup to swap in, then get it retuned. Should be well over 500 whp then. Won't be till spring though, the car is hibernating for winter currently as I live in northern Minnesota.
@@blown87gt that's awesome! Can't wait to see more. I can't wait to start building mine also!
You know how much power it’s making?
If I recall, the owner mentioned between 400-450 with the new pistons/rods since he last had it dynoed.
Hey I just got this kit and I was wondering how did you go about tuning/ecu and stuff?
VC Boyz TV for tuning use the MS3 Pro MegaSquirt.
This is my car. I had it tuned with an sct x4, stock ecu.
turbo2v hey could you message me. I have a 2V and I live in Minnesota I’m looking to do this
@4:10 what the hell is that ticking noise. Mine does the same
Wait till my 2v town car is done.. 👀
What hood is that!!
I’m 3 years late on this vid, but is there any way you could respond to this comment with a link directly to the turbo kit.
Is the transmission stock?
Is there anyway to do this without cutting a hole in the fender?
Of course. The on3 kit gives you the option of running a full cat back exhaust.
Sweet
Does all he have is cobra pistons and rods? No crank?
Yes, just pistons and rods if I recall correctly.
Cost of tune? Just got this kit for a 4.6 2v crown vic...
I paid 500 for the dyno tune
Honestly sounds like a mustang without exaust
Well, that's because it basically has no exhaust lol. It's just an open downpipe strait out the front bumper cover. I used to have full exhaust with magnaflow mufflers, but decided to just to the bumper exit this year.
Listening on a phone really doesn't do it justice. Lots of turbo noise on speakers and especially in person! Wish everyone could hear it under power in real life. Its awesome
@@Greenlightfilming oh im sure im missing detail in the sound but i know what those mustangs sound like without an exaust.... They sounds mean af
derpinsky eh I just took the cats and exhaust off of mine for a straight pipe , but it’s so loud im debating on even putting a system back on it. makes me feel more like a .... MAN
Im planning a high compression big cam high rev manual mustang and throw a bottle in er for some extra fun
Why does this not have subframe connectors 🤷♀️🤦♀️
I couldnt answer that for you! Maybe the man himself will chime in on it .
Worried about making power first, it's more fun lol.
How much hp & Tq?
Before it blew up, it was making 454 who and the torque was only 430, the cams aren't ideal for a turbo. Once I get it re tuned it should make over 500 whp now that it has forged rods and pistons.
What is the name of that bumper
It's a "Cobra" front bumper cover.
Are the heads stock? What work did you do to them if not?
The car in the video is mine. The heads are bone stock. Just has aftermarket cams
@@blown87gt are these kits good I'm thinking on getting one but not sure
@@gsc2866 I've had zero issues with mine in the 10,000 miles it's been on the car
@@blown87gt I feel like I just may go just doing heads and cams for now then doing a supercharger cause I just rebuilt my whole suspension and dont wanna do it all over again just to get a k member to work with the turbo but that's definitely a sick car how much power you making I'm curious
@@gsc2866 at the moment about 440 whp, once I get it retuned in the spring I should be well over 500 whp
Stock internals ?
Cobra pistons and rods I believe. Factory ford parts.
0-60?
You'd have to ask the owner! I don't know offhand.
Does this car have a cam in it?
Yes it does!
@@Greenlightfilming what cams are being ran in this car
i was there
You up on the lookout area?
yeah!
@@tylermount9544 ok I figured haha. Nice meeting you guys, thanks for subbing! I think I've seen you at shows before too.
💪🏾
Nice license plate frame
New Edge
I kept hearing 4.10 gears was good to I put them in my car now first gear is pointless so I think I'll go back with stock gear at least I didnt need to use 5th all the time
T45 or 3650
It's a built 3650. Hanlon motorsports built it.
That shit is sweet! 😘
Why would you put cobra pistons? Super low compression ratio.
Lower compression = more boost
@@Greenlightfilming hes on 10 lbs... and plenty of cars are running higher compression and boost, 2.0 ecoboost are like 10:1 and run 21 psi of boost, it's all in the tunning.
I dont think you get what I'm saying. You will flow more air/fuel into and out of the engine with less compression.
I could be wrong but I think cobra pistons are forged too.
20lbs on a 4cyl vs a v8 arent even close to the same amount of air flow as the turbos arent the same size.
@@Greenlightfilming wow I've never heard something so wrong in a long time, if a lower compression engine flows more air and fuel in and out it would make more power n/a than a high compression engine.
And the 4 cylinder was just for a comparison, so let's use a 2020 gt500, they have 9.5:1 compression.
Only 2003 and 2004 cobra has forged pistons, all other cobras that use a 4.6 have hyper pistons and powdered medal rods, but all 4.6 cobra have forged cranks.
Again it's all in the tuning.
@@centraltexasfoxbodies dude I was talking about a lower compression engine with boost. Not NA lol. You just agreed with my point other than that. Why wouldn't ford make a 2020* cobra motor high compression if it makes more power safely with boost?
4.10 is wayyyyyy to much gear for a turbo
Right, that's one thing the owner is well aware of. The gears were installed long before it was turboed.
I’ve got an 03’ V6 and it already sucks on gas but it’s probably cause I busted out the cats and put cherry bombs on it 😂 I couldn’t imagine how much you fill that beast 😂
i live in CT would you be willing to help me tune up and fix my 01 turbocharged mustang cobra? im trying to find someone that knows mustangs and nobody seems to be out there!
please HELP ME!! thanks
-PeterPiccolo
There is probably a lot of good information on one of the many mustang forums online. HPTuners also has a great forum you should check out!
I'm far from an expert on tuning anything lol!
The 4.6 2v Sound is not touchable.. I have not heard any engine ever that sounds better than a stock or even a cammed 4.6 2v.
Did this guy seriously say this car doesn’t have tubular control arms. He does know they did a shot of the underside of the car while driving right? You can see he has an aftermarket K member, and tubular a arms lol what a joke.
He was talking about the rear end's control arms.......
Turbo 2vs don’t sound good on decel for some reason
"Its a stock 4.6 with cobra rods and pistons with a on3 turbo at 10psi..." turns on car and it has a nasty cam... please dont say stupid shit like this making people think a mustang can make good power without crazy mods. LS dont even need rods and pistons or cam just a shit turbo to blow this junk out the water
Ok there big guy lol
