Bill O’Reilly- wrong about one thing…in 1930’s Germany most people were not outright antisemitic and as individuals did not have a problem with Jews. But they were followers and they were silent. The Holocaust and the next Jewish pogrom will be because people didn’t take this kind of antisemitism seriously and assumed “most people didn’t agree with it or weren’t involved”. You are being naive about history by seeing how serious this is. The antisemitism is engrained in these colleges. Many students are truly indoctrinated with the idea that all evil in the world is because of Zionists, aka Jews. It starts with groups of people that believe this and it spreads. If these kids who are not involved do not learn the truth to counter this ideology, their beliefs can be shaped by it too. Even if just loosely. It is not trivial.
The belief that the Jew-hate wasn’t really a big thing that needed to be addressed back in the 1930’s is exactly what led to the holocaust. There’s all these conspiracy theories that the Jews/Zionists are the cause of police brutality in the US because some officers asked to learn IDF tactics. They learned things like how to clear a room more safely, to ensure no one gets hurt. Conspiracy theories about how the Jews are behind all that’s bad in the world= Jewish persecution, pogroms, holocaust, ethnic cleansing. That’s what comes next.
Never experienced university students anti-Semitic. Though I’ve experienced many other bigoted individuals with hard-right leaning sentiments perfectly willing to add antisemitism to their other stereotypes.
I have to say as an American citizen, I have no ill will towards Israel but can you understand how in a time of massive inflation and unemployment people would get angry over the billions of foreign aid we give to Israel in exchange for nothing to the average American voter? A government that is paid for by our tax dollars in exchange for handling of affairs domestically and internationally.
Moreover they are overtly an ethno state by international and domestic law. The only one left on Earth. Can you see how people from all over the world who have been victims of western intervention and then as a result lost their nation would be angry? Iraq comes to mind. Not only this but to top it off Israel wants us to take Gazan refugees, people who hate us (justifiably) but it is deranged as they have reason to hate the US more than anyone else on earth and they will be right here. We have a flood pouring across the border and are at our weakest now and this is how our best ally behaves? Again I'm not Anti-Israel but Israel's government is doing the absolute best to make as many people dislike you as possible. All of these reasons are why the protests will not stop.
A great many of the Germans were indeed antisemitic. Hillter made numerous antisemitic speeches and they were well received by the German people. Author Ian Kershaw in his two volumes on Hillter covers the antisemitism in Germany in the 1930s.
Very well put about the average person in Germany in the 30s. And about the next wave that might be a Jewish pogrom or another radical wave. Having met and talked to some who were involved in the Cultural Revolution in China, it started much like the maga movement. With similar attitudes about intellectuals and how established culture is rooted out and reversed. China’s never gotten over that transformation and the horrors it involved.
They were painted as patriots and filled with simplistic ideas that have never been realized.

Think of it this way, when you’re afraid, angry, or sad do you let your emotions drive your decision making for you or do you control them so you can make an intelligent decision? Emotional control provides clarity of thought, and also helps you direct your emotions to make your life and the people you care about better.
Try giving that some long critical thought, you could also learn a great deal by studying stoicism. Our society could use more of the wisdom of the ancient Greeks right about now.
